Hankins Released

Recommended Posts

I thought he was actually one of the bright spots on our D.

CB, why put me on this emotional rollercoaster?!

Disappointing...

The roller coaster continues...

And yes...   I think Hankins asked for it because he preferred a 3-4 to a 4-3.

Surprised by this.

Some think it is because of the switch to 4-3 but I don't believe it. Hankins can play in the 4-3. Plus, Ballard is the one who signed him last year. I believe, even though there is no way to prove it, that Ballard has wanted to switch to the 4-3 from the start. I think there is something else to this besides a scheme change.

Interesting.

I have been hitting on a lot of things this week, but I did not see this one coming.

Holy smokes. He played so well for us last season. He doesn’t fit our now 4-3 scheme?

You could be right. Unless there was some type of internal fight going on, then it's what makes the most sense. Maybe after we all get over the initial shock of the news then we will think about this clearer. It is very surprising though.

SUH???

I kind of kid, but....... LOL

It's called a COMPLETE rebuild.  Don't be surprised when Luck is vacated.

I know it’s St Patrick’s day but *, that much alcohol is lethal.

I am just trying to figure out an explanation but I hope so too. I am 99% for getting younger - which will do through the Draft but Suh is healthy and still Top 5 at his position. He's better than Hankins too, so why not I say.

I don't think Chris Ballard will even consider trading Andrew. Jim Irsay would fire him before he could send the paperwork in.

He’s actually very good and graded out really well. Among the best at his position. That’s why I’m surprised he wasn’t traded.

I agree. Why is everyone saying how well he played. He’s not disruptive and doesn’t create pressure. Seems avg at best

Yeah, I think you are right. Al Woods at NT and Suh at UT makes a whole lot more sense now, as much as I do not care for Suh.

during the colts town meeting when hankins was asked about the new system you could tell he wasn't to excited about it.

    • Maybe Denver or Washington due to cap space. I'm hoping we get a player in return if he ends up going anywhere. I wouldn't complain about getting a pick either.    I can get behind this but not just for DeAndre Baker maybe a pass rusher or interior D-line will fall.
    • If DeAndre Baker falls past Denver, I wouldn't mind trading pick #26 and Brissett to the Dolphins in order to acquire him. That would be a deal both teams might agree to if the Dolphins are indeed interested.
    • He's my favorite FA or even early round pickup at WR this offseason
    • I laughed when seeing "QB" listed as a team need on OnTheClock 2019.  That being said, I have to wonder if it's worth taking a flyer on a QB like Kyle Shurmur and either deal him or Brissett going forward.
    • Having faith without knowing why is "blind faith". At least when I supported certain picks that Grigson chose (like Dorsett), it was because I thought they were good and I was wrong. It wasn't because Grigson was our GM and I felt an obligation that I had to "follow" his every move. He did have 3 straight winning years and advanced further each time, but it became apparent by the end of 2014 that his drafting and FA signings were poor (besides the early part of the 2012 draft), and Luck was carrying the team. Luck got hurt afterward, but it's not like Grigson's drafting or FA signings got better. We were a team carried by Luck and the previous regimes players from 2012-2016. I didn't notice it completely until after the Pats AFC Championship game where we were completely outmatched, but I did notice poor patterns before that (especially missing on 1st round picks).   I'm just saying that the people who say that Ballard knows more than other "armchair GM's" would also say the same about Grigson, so they were merely guessing and were right on Ballard just like they were wrong about Grigson with "blind faith". I don't know, that line just bugs me a lot. Most people who say that also don't predict ahead of time who is good and who isn't, they are extremists in an either positive or negative way, and both are poor viewpoints IMO. Ok, rant over!
