Indianapolis Colts trade #3 overall pick to New York Jets (merge)

It was pretty automatic once the Jets couldn't snag any of the marquee QBs, IMO.

Very good trade for the Colts!!! It would have been greedy to expect a pair of first rounders, and Ballard did the right thing, getting as much as he could to plan for the draft.

This is why I thought people were worrying too much about the trade chart.

Our 3rd pick was 2200 and we traded for a value of 2760.

I kept saying you will get more when people move it on to top 3 for a QB it happens every time lol

It’ll be a run on QB aside from Cleveland 2nd pick and possibly Giants. Chubb could very well be there. Barkley probably won’t though

Maybe. Cleveland could actually end up with Barkley and Chubb which would be an impressive haul if they didn't need to nail the QB position as much as they do.

I really hope we haven't done this with the aim of getting Nelson. Seems like the wrong direction to me. Those 3 second round picks are going to be interesting though.

Love it!!!!!!!!! Didn’t think we could get three 2nd rounders just for moving down 3 spots!!!!

Hopefully either Chubb or Nelson is still available at 6. What a trade!!!

This is what I was hoping for with Ballard. Be able to get a haul just for moving back 3 spots and hopefully still landing an elite player!

The Jets paid a premium for sure. That's the cost of drafting the QB of your choice. This will definitely change the Dynamics of the Browns strategy. They might be forced to draft the QB of their choice at 1, since now NYG and NYJ are both threats.

Draft just got way more interesting.

Much rather get Chubb (if he’s still available) and Hernandez or Wynn in the second, than select Nelson over Chubb.

Some need to slow down and think here there is no guarantee that denver takes a QB there is a huge possibility that Barkley Chubb and Nelson will all be gone so who else could be a target?

Tremaine Edmunds. We missed on Hitchens and at 19yo, Edmunds could run that unit for the next 15 years if he lives up to his potential.

Baker is a baller....

Johnny Football was a baller...

RG3 was a baller...

Sammy Bradford was a baller...

Case Keenum was a baller...

List of ballers goes on and on. But ballin in NCAAF and the NFL aren't, unfortunately, the same thing.

Hope Baker has a great career, but numbers just don't support it.

That's a really good haul.  I'd be interested in seeing if anyone wants to trade up to 6.  Maybe move down 3 or 4 spots and gain another 3 or 4 picks in the process.

If both Nelson and Chubb are gone by 6, I bet we move down with Buffalo.

I just hope Ballard gets it on the dotted line and faxes the paperwork to NY, dots the i-s and crosses the t-s :)

So was Manziel

they are not the same type of ballers. Most of Manziel's big plays were out of structure, most of Baker's big plays are within structure and from inside the pocket. Also... Baker is not a coke head... I think.

Props to Ballard for making that trade.  His plan has to be to take Quentin Nelson at pick #6.  Ballard picked up 2 second rounders for this year and a second round pick next year.  Colts now have 3 second round picks and a total of 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.
