Texans sign Mathieu (Merge)

Good move if he can stay healthy and the players he was.

solid value too. Hard to believe Arizona wanted him to go that low.

Sounds like he did what melvin did to us. Took less to go somewhere else and not have to go back to his old organization

The teams in our division already look very different from when Andrew last threw a football. It’ll be interesting to see how we stack up, even with a healthy Andrew.

Where things stand now, we are by far the worst team in this division, even with Luck. Unless Ballard has some ace up his sleeve in the draft that will make up for the lack of activity in free agency, I don’t see how you can argue that.

Regardles of what we are or aren't doing, the AFC south (specifically the Jags and Texans) seem to be a legitimate FA destination. It sort of seems like we're not exactly an attractive destinated but we're also not gunning after guys quite like they are.

Hopefully Vrabel is a horrible coach.

Could be a rough season in general, but we aren't going to be gifted any South wins for the next few seasons.

I think the lack of certainty around Luck is playing a part. That and some of these guys are getting paid silly huge contracts that I'd never give them.

The Badger is in our division and it’s not with us.

I’m slightly annoyed by the that.

We are the worst team in the division by far. I want to get this straight because we haven't signed as many players as the other teams in the division.

Players their former team let hit the FA market because they didn't think they were the money they wanted. The new teams in most every case paid these players considerably more money than the former team had decided they weren't worth.

Because we have not signed these players you are so sure we are the worst team there is no argument to be made. There hasn't been a single game played and there doesn't need to be. The fate of our team has been decide by the signings in these 3 days.

Regardless of the fact we are due to add the best QB in the division to our roster and almost certainly other players to our roster.  The rest of FA, the draft, roster cuts nothing else matters. You don't see how one might argue that is not correct maybe even a fatalistic view?

crud, i would have really liked it if ballard could have pulled that off. i mean i realize he probably didn't even give him a look or 2nd thought, but guys like Mathieu are rare.

Their secondary is still trash

We’re not exactly loaded with all-pros there either.

This team is gonna suck for many years to come if I was luck I would demand to be cut.

How do we know that isn't why he just returned to Indy during FA season?

Yeah....I hope Titans sign Suh. It will be interesting watching him vs Norwell.

Of course I'm not sure he will line up against him. It will be fun watching if he does though.

    • The Colts have had their fair share of injuries the past few seasons.   Many of these players were either expected to have good/great years, or contribute much more than they did, because of their season being cut short. If there was a single player on the roster right now, whom has had injuries in the past 3 seasons, that you could put imaginary 'bubble wrap' around to guarantee they don't get injured this season, who would it be?   Mine = Kemoko Turay. There are many players i'd want to have a healthy season, Hilton/Campbell/Hooker/ect. But to me, I truly believe if Turay had not had that season ending injury last year, he could have seriously broken out. I am praying for a healthy season for him, because having him on all the passing downs for the season with the rest of the talent we have on the front 7, I think he could have a massive season. He was leading the NFL last season in QB pressures per snap, before he was hurt. Not to mention that he was held so many times, and it was not called.  I mean blatant holding.  Because he is a real issue for O-linemen.  Just so fast, with great bend, and his hand/arm work is stellar since he's been working with Mathis. A full healthy season, I could easily see him getting 10+ sacks.
    • they cant just go from waiver claim to practice squad on another team, he would have to be on their roster a while before they can do that.
    • It will be interesting to see how Watson does without Hopkins. If they won the division again that would show me a lot. Losing Hopkins is a huge blow.
    • That's fair. Watson is mostly due to age, but I think he's finally good enough to lead them to the playoffs. However, they will decline soon with some contracts running out. I see Luck as 32 in football years because I believe he'd be rusty for a year. Just a guess though. I would take Watson too because I feel he's non injury-prone, and that's good for a long-term answer at QB. I would take Luck back in a heartbeat though as long as we didn't have to pay him anything if he retired again.
