Thats really unfortunate. I heard his health was questionable but never expected it was bad enough for him to have to retire.

While it sucks to have to do that, sometimes its for the best long term.  i wish him well.

His career hasn't started yet.

From football. He didn’t make it to the NFL but he’s retiring from the game of football in general. That means no CFL, AFL, etc...

Sorry, I guess I figured if you never entered the profession, there's no retiring from it. You just didn't/couldn't pursue it.

I suppose if I'd just 'retired' from the NFL when I got out of High School, I may have built up quite a pension by now.

Eh, next life.
