Cap Space for top 51 - 73.5M

Re-sign

Jon Bostic 1y 1m

Mike Person 1y 1m

Pierre Desir 1y 800k

Erik Swoope 1y 630k

Chris Milton 1y 630k

Luke Rhodes 1y 630k

Honestly I don’t care to re-sign many of our guys. I would keep Melvin but it sounds like he’s overestimated his own worth. Mewhort should probably retire with those knees and Moncrief has not lived up to expectations. I just want to keep the solid, cheap, depth players.

Cap Space - 72.3M

Sign

Andrew Norwell - OG 5y 65m - I hope Ballard does everything he can to get him here

Josh Sitton - OG 3y 21m - Same deal he had with the Bears

Matt Tobin - OL 1y 800k - Depth/Competition who can play multiple positions

Orleans Darkwa - RB 3y 15m - Good back who hasn’t had much to work with in NY

Cody Latimer - WR 1y 1m - Depth WR who never caught on in Denver

Trey Burton - TE 3y 12m - Frank Reich brings his secret weapon TE/QB to Indy

EJ Gaines - CB 5y 60m - A great fit for our new zone defense, whether it’s Cover 2 or 3

Anthony Hitchens - LB 3y 21m - Eberflus wants him

Avery Williamson - LB 3y 21m - I want him

Kareem Martin - DE 1y 1M - I liked him out of college

I believe this sets us up nicely going into the draft. The Oline is fixed with Haeg, Good, and Tobin battling it out for RT. Still a little weak on the edge but that’s where the draft comes into play.

Cap Space - 13.5M

Draft

1 - Bradley Chubb DE - NC State - No trade down, just get a strong edge presence

2 - Michael Gallup WR - Colorado State - Need a new weapon for Mr. Neckbeard

3 - Rashaad Penny RB - San Diego State - Strong 1,2,3 punch with Darkwa and Mack

4 - Darius Leonard LB - SC State - Gotta get faster at LB, he’ll be a good Will

5 - Nick Nelson CB - Wisconsin - Gave up a 38% completion rate, good zone corner

6 - Skai Moore LB - South Carolina - Undersized but a tremendous coverage LB

7 - DJ Chark WR - LSU - Would be a higher draft pick if he had a competent QB

Final Roster

QB - Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett

RB - Orleans Darkwa, Rashaad Penny, Marlon Mack

WR - TY Hilton, Michael Gallup, Chester Rogers, DJ Chark, Cody Latimer

TE - Jack Doyle, Trey Burton, Erik Swoope, Darrell Daniels

OT - Anthony Castonzo, Denzelle Good, Joe Haeg, Matt Tobin

OG - Andrew Norwell, Josh Sitton, Mike Person, Anthony Fabiano

C - Ryan Kelly, Deyshawn Bond

DE - Bradley Chubb, Jabaal Sheard, Margus Hunt, Tarrell Basham, Kareem Hunt

DT - Johnathan Hankins, Henry Anderson, Al Woods, Hassan Ridgeway, Grover Stewart

MLB - Avery Williamson, Anthony Walker

OLB - Anthony Hitchens, Darius Leonard, Skai Moore

SAM - John Simon

CB - EJ Gaines, Quincy Wilson, Nate Hairston, Pierre Desir, Nick Nelson, Kenny Moore

FS - Malik Hooker, TJ Green

SS - Clayton Geathers, Matthias Farley

Isn't Hitchens a MLB?

We’re all being a little optimistic with our free agents at this point, but I definitely wouldn’t be upset with this offseason!

Yeah we all want all the good FAs, only problem is, there’s 31 other teams that feel the same way.

He started as backup MLB, moved to weak side OLB when Durant got injured, was going to become starting strong side OLB the next season until McLain got a 4 game suspension, so he was back at MLB. Once McClain got back, he went back to ILB, then back to MLB when McClain got hurt. The following season was slated to start at OLB, until McClain got a 10 game suspension, and, you guessed it, he was back at MLB. Last season he started at MLB, then got injured and later in the season moves to weak side OLB after Sean Lee got injured.

All of that to say: yes, but he's typically an OLB that has played a lot of MLB out of necessity.
