Very pleased indeed. Love the Frank Reich hiring. Glad to send the Patsy boy McDaniels back to his hole as well....Pats are going to learn to respect the horseshoe pretty quick when we get our hands back on them... I can't wait for a young, fast and talented defense. Put Brady in the dirt where he belongs...

Ehh... They just named a WRs coach, didn't name a QB coach. And Sirianni was the Chargers QBs coach before he was the WRs coach.

Also, based on the website, it looks like Mathis stays on as Pass Rush Consultant.

Reich did help Rivers & Wentz become better. Maybe a combination of Sirianni & Reich will be the actual 'Qb coach'. It's not normal for the HC to do that, but with his past success it could happen.

Since Reich is calling the plays, they said Sirianni will serve as QB coach pretty much

From article on front page:

"Reich said the Colts won't have a fully-dedicated "quarterbacks coach," this season; rather, offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, assistant quarterbacks coach Marcus Brady and himself will split up those duties. Reich and Sirianni have each been quarterbacks coaches at other stops in their NFL coaching careers, while Brady had spent the previous five seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts."

With FA set to open up in just a few weeks, Is it worth mentioning that Mike Bluem is still Director of Football Administration???

I always felt, that while not all, or even many of Grigson's FA moves panned out favorably for the Colts, the contracts were structured soundly. Hopefully Bluem can work some of that magic this off season as well to help Ballard land some of the teams targeted FA's while also avoiding a bad cap situation in the future...

Anyways, while he's not a coach exactly, I feel like Bluem (assuming he is the one helping structure the contracts) has really helped build the team during this part of the off season...

Ehh if you look at some of Grigson's old contracts and Ballard's contracts (not rookie deals of course) you can see the way they structure their contracts is very different.

That isn't to say that Grigson was irresponsible with his contracts.  One good thing you can say about him is that he never put us in a bad cap situation.

This Free Agency and Draft will show us a lot about Ballard. So far I like him, I thought his Draft last season was Very Good. It was unfortunate that Hooker got injured and I like the Mack pick. Grigson was very fortunate that he had Luck coming in as his #1 pick, otherwise he would've really sucked. Anyone in here could've got GM of the Year in 2012 by picking Luck. Unless someone would've actually took RG3 lmao

Seems silly.  Just call him the QB coach and not the assistant QB coach.  OC does a lot of work with the QB anyways because the OC is coordinating the offense and the quarterback runs the offense on the field.

I think his draft was a bit mixed but some of the guys that didn't do much for most of the season started showing something towards the end, so maybe we'll get more out of them next season.  Also you can't ignore a 4th rounder getting cut in camp.  Even if 4th round picks arn't expected to go out there and immediately do something special, 4th rounders rarely get cut in camp.

However you can't completely judge a draft off of one season, so we'll see what happens.  If Wilson and Bashem pan out I will say it was a great draft.   And for the record I would be happy if Bashem is just a situational player on obvious passing downs as long as he's generating some pressure and getting a few sacks.  Anything beyond that is just gravy.  Wilson as a 2nd rounder should develop into at least a solid #2.

But I was really impressed with his free agency moves.  No busts.  Everyone he signed played up to their contract.

I think it's a little unfair to judge a draft immediately. I think you wait at least a couple of seasons for players to get past their learning curve and then you see what you really have.

Generally speaking, of course. I'm not directing this to any specific person here.

Is it wrong of me to like the Strength and Conditioning coaching hire best lol? I actually have some faith he might be the guy that helps with all these injury issues this team has had.

No it’s not wrong. Rusty jones is a legend. The fact that he came out of retirement for Reich speaks volumes about how well respected he is.

Not totally sure how it works, but I imagine there needs to be some sort of title to get a paycheck and the title has to be somewhat in line with what the person is doing/how much they're making.

    • https://www.nfl.com/news/bill-tobin-longtime-nfl-executive-dies-at-age-83   He drafted some all time great players like Harrison, and of course is famous for his verbal match with Mel Kiper. RIP!
    • Then begs the question. Do u want to say draft a MJH at 4 and turn around in 4 years or would u say draft Turner and pay him 30mill in 4 years? All day every day for the franchise rush end. I am not a big believer in 30 mill for a wr. Reid is a fantastic coach and look what he did with Hill.
    • I literally just posted that clip, it's where the conversation about QBs started.
    • Funny you brought this up.  I just listened to an interview Ballard did today with Rich Eisen.  He asked him if he has given any thought on how many quarterbacks will be taken before our pick and how many does he think.  He said sure we go through those evaluations.  It helps us with for planning purposes.  He asked him how many.  4 or 5 or 6?   He laughed out loud at 6.  He said Rich if it’s 6 we will be so excited.  Let’s hope so.  He also said the draft board is not yet set.  Won’t be until the night before the draft.  He also said he has had multiple conversations with other GM’s concerning the draft.  Preparing themselves for opportunities that could take place.  And they will continue up until the draft starts.  He said trade conversations won’t really materialize until you are within three picks of any trade.  Giving you time to finalize it.  Interesting interview.  Oh he pretty much ruled out moving up for Harrison.   Going up into the top of the draft would be very costly for him he said.  Thinks he’s a great talent but he thinks he’s pretty much out of our reach.
    • I personally wouldn’t touch Williams with a 10 foot pole. He seems like a distraction and cancerous. He may be Uber talented but I don’t feel like he is a winner, and don’t feel like his heart is in it. I think he gets the bag and just sets it on cruise control. There is absolutely nothing to base this off of aside from my gut feeling.  Maye Daniels  Penix Nix McCarthy   Maye is your prototype passer and I think his deficiencies are easily fixed with good coaching.   Daniels seems the most limited to me, proficient and will be very dependent on where he goes.    Will always have a soft spot for Penix, he throws such a pretty deep ball. His 40 time should have opened some eyes.   Nix is probably the safest pick IMO. I think he’s got the tools to fit nearly any offense. Has the athleticism, arm talent and I think he’s got the between the ears to excel in most offenses.   I see the appeal with McCarthy, he was as unselfish as they come allowing the run game to shine instead of checking to pass plays. I think his ceiling is a solid game manager.
