would this be a good idea?

Recommended Posts

having a plan in FA that will work with our draft that only seeks to solve 2 problems  (note not 2 positions but 2 problems)1

for example: the running game/pass protection: we would need a great rb therefore Barkley first round

we in this case would also need to use our 2nd pick on best G on the board

this will make our priority in FA the best G and RT

3rd pick then should be best wr so as you can see we are really selling out on the O side of the ball

The Problem: if the browns take Barkley----then since we have invested in FA with starting G and RT we the should take Nelson 1st rd and take a rb with 2nd pick

next year we could work on the D side of the ball, but with this idea if we get Luck back healthy we should have a great O

Well....    at first glance, this jumps out at me....

You devote both the majority of both free agency and the draft to one side of the ball.   This early in the rebuilding of a franchise,  I don't see that happening.

I wouldnt rule it out 100 percent, but pretty close.   Ballard's background is defense... the idea of him paying very little attention to that side of the ball seems pretty unlikely.

I think it boils down to Ballard just either trading down or picking the player he thinks that will bring the most to the team.

It's not rocket science.

We also need to acquire a good wr in FA, we are very thin at the position. JMV said We only have 2 receivers currently on roster that have ever caught a pass in the nfl. And I'm assuming one of them is chester rogers.

The draft is a crapshoot. Maybe Chubb isn't there, or maybe Ballard gets a really good offer and trades down. We should go into free agency looking to fill needs.

Our GM has spoken in the exact opposite of this thinking.

Which part? Ballard has said he's open to trade downs, and I don't recall anything about free agency, other than he'd like to spend a lot of the cap.

He said he wanted to build through the draft. Naturally there has to be free agents signed to bring players in as band aids till those player develop.

Yes I do agree with that. I mentioned a 3rd wr but we would need to pick up a more elite wr in FA to go with TY and Chester (as 3rd or 4th option)

I think we should go after that MLB from the cowboys (forget his name) and spend our 4th 5th and 6th picks on D.

we will not be able to find an elite Edge Rusher in FA and Chubb may already be gone at our #3 but even if he is there we should go with the elite RB or Nelson to fix one side of the ball

think about it---if our O last year was able to score more points (and convert 3rd downs) we would have won more than 10 games

He has?    Not that I'm aware of....

Is there a link you want to point to?

yes!! me too. I know someone who is his cousin

Dez may get cut. I know he's not the player he used to be and can be a headache. But if Ballard can't get a Big Top WR to compliment TY, what you think of Dez as a stopgap for a season or two?

    • The Eagles are super banged up! Top 2 WR out now their starting RB. Going be hard for them to score I think.
    • Put me in the camp calling for a free agent WR as well as one taken high in the draft. We all know that it takes a couple of years to hit your stride as a pro WR. I don’t think the team can wait for that. The Colts need to improve at this position immediately, especially with TY showing the inevitable signs of aging, i.e. he’s dinged up constantly. I’m not sure what will be out there next year FA-wise, but I know this: they can’t fix this problem with draft picks alone.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/american-football/50448708   Looks like he's not given up on getting a gig in then NFL, but acting like this is getting to endear him to organisations. I can understand that he might not agree with the terms of the workout, but you've got to handle it more professionally than this.    Shame, I really do think he has talent.
    • Most of us HATE injustice. We saw it with the OJ situation: part of the country wanted justice for all of the times police overstepped their boundaries and innocent people got arrested or convicted. The other part of our population wanted a murderer convicted for killing two people. Both sides wanted justice.         Same is true for police brutality and social injustice. To me, these are individual acts done by individuals and protests against the flag are misguided. It’s saying this country stands for injustice and inequality and nothing can be further from the truth.          We live in a country that provides the opportunity for all people to do well: Athletes, Doctors, Businessmen, Pastors, Actors and Musicians have reaped the benefits of living in this great country.         I have no problem with anyone protesting individual acts of racism or injustice. But to protest the flag is misguided.
    • What is Cam's "questionable behavior"? Serious question.
