I like that move. Ive always felt we needed a Bruiser. Turbin is sort of that, but Jones is more of what I'm talking about.

He goes down way too easily from slightest contact to be a bruiser.

Has pretty good traits but they haven't translated to the field very well.

Could he be a Turbin replacement in a couple of years?

I see him as more of a complement to the different styles we have. Hes that guy you bring in when we want to bang. Him, Turbin, and Gore. Then Mack adds the slash and burn. I also like it because its clear we will be running the ball more which protects our QBs.

I don't see how we're going to use him a lot though. Mack + Gore will get the majority of the carries, with Turbin in on short yardage. I suppose he can come in for Turbin if Turbin gets injured.

He didn't perform much worse, either.  McGill and Parry are both guys who have limited upside.  They are OK players, but nothing more and nothing with their frame or skillset to show that they will continuously improve in this league.  They are average rotation guys, but that is it.  Stewart has a huge frame and a lot more raw potential.  Coming from a small school with his size and raw skillset should hopefully suggest he can be developed into something more than just a mediocre/average DL and instead become a very solid player in this league.  He also seems like he may have more versatility to rotate around DL positions.

Agree with this.  Stewart has a much higher ceiling and McGill showed some solid pass rushing plays but also has a lot of plays that show his weaknesses if you watch the tape entirely.  I appreciate what McGill and Parry gave us fans in terms of effort to the Colts, but the fact is that neither of them are anything more than average rotational players.  Stewart right now is probably not much more than that either, but he's got better physical traits and a higher potential to be a very solid player in this league with his raw skills.

Dorsett as a 1st rounder had 18 catches and 33 catches in 2 years in the league.  I don't really think it's fair to say 'this is not a well informed fan base.'  Most of the arguments on this board are opinions and to suggest your opinion is better than mine and others or for me to suggest mine is better than yours and others doesn't mean others aren't well informed.

Dorsett has undoubtedly underperformed as a number 1 overall draft pick.  In his rookie year, we expected (and the coaches did, too) him to be a dynamic special teams player and run after the catch guy.  He never panned out as a return guy and he never really showed anything to suggest he'd be a gamebreaker as a receiver (whether it was the long ball, or breaking a screen or reverse for a huge play w/ his speed and athleticism).

He did show potential at times and he wasn't terrible for us.  However, both TY and Moncrief have outperformed him and Chester Rogers seemed to outperform him as well.

Perhaps Dorsett wasn't being used properly.  Perhaps he needs more time to develop.  That said, 51 catches in a 2 year span from a first round draft pick is simply not worth the value we invested in him.

yne

Part of his issue is he hasn't stayed healthy.  Pagano seemed to be addressing him almost directly earlier this preseason when he made a comment about nobody's job being safe, even the dinged up guys who can't practice because they've got minor little injuries.

Dorsett seems like a guy that could shine in NE's system, but he wasn't doing so in ours.  It's good we got something in return for him and I wish him the best.  That said, Dorsett's 2 year body of work in Indy did basically nothing to warrant anyone having confidence that Indy's system would be the one for him to develop into a productive player in.  I mean last year with Moncrief hurt, you would expect him to step up and light the world on fire like a 2nd year first-round draft pick should do given that opportunity, instead he got outshined by an undrafted rookie and finished the year with 33 catches (average or below average numbers for a 3rd or 4th receiver -- certainly not what anyone would want from a #1 or #2).

Grover has the size/length needed to disrupt at the line of scrimmage that the others would never have. Love him as a Colt.

Reggie Wayne 1st two seasons 29 games  16 starts
Reggie had a much higher catch % because Manining was much more accurate than Lucky is at throwing quick, highly accurate passes.  That being said, thank you for such an accurate assessment of what Dorsett is and isn't.
Glad we moved him and i am hoping we soon add a Bug to our game day roster. Big is better.
 76 catches
1061 yards

4 td`s

 Dorsett 26 games  7 starts
51 catches

753 yards

3 TD's

With Kelly shelved for a little bit not sure about that but if RK was a full Go then yes

True but we're pretty thin at T too. And Clark is the only other guy besides AC who's had time at LT, even if he was bad.

But yeah, we'll be left thin at an OL position either way if we cut one.

    • Man I feel real strong about Brian Thomas jr. I think it's on and cracking if we get him. His game is just consistent and he is such a hard cover. I like him being paired with Pittman. I really do!
    • This is probably the most exciting nonplaying event of the year and it’s tomorrow. I just hope that Balllard  and the scouting department I’ve done their job thoroughly
    • @2006Coltsbestever @NFLfan   Kirk has been treated much better and with much more respect than Wentz was treated in Indy. And was showed with Love and truckloads of money in Minnesota, and was defended constantly with much more ferocity by Vikings fans than people defending Ballard in Grievances thread.    it'd be crazy to think of injustice against Kirk for a few minority who criticize his play.    We're Going back and forth on Kirk debate which will go on for eternity, but I struck Gold when I saw recently @Superman explaining how he felt watching Wentz playing with other teams before he got to Indy and how it felt watching him play for Colts when you're emotionally invested with the franchise.    There's no other way to perfectly describe Kirk Cousins' career and his QB play.   For every fan around the NFL, especially for fantasy football fans, Kirk will be a hero and am above average QB. But, when you're emotionally invested in your favourite franchise and Kirk plays QB for your team, you would come close to understanding how excruciatingly frustrating his play and smartness and game awareness are (or shortage of them are), that all contributes to team missing playoffs many years and even when they qualify, no one sees Kirk as a threat in playoffs. Ever. Your team would be paying Elite QB Money for that, and you'd be constantly in debate with criticizers Vs defenders. Until he plays for your team, you won't realize that, and I totally understand.    Anyway, happy to pass on that frustration over to Falcons fans, they'd know soon. First of all, Kirk takes at least a season or two to trust his OL, even if you put an elite line and weapons around him, and it's all in his head. I'm going to sit back and read Falcons forums for Fun in 2024 Season! Good Times!
    • I have no idea how it will all shake out, but I have my popcorn ready.
    • There are no owners in the NFL that are perfect people. Some owner's demons are more public, some not so much, but they all have them. There's much more to the free agency issue and the Colts than most are aware of. There are a lot of intangibles most will never consider. That said, there is more to almost every aspect of any organization that most will ever be aware of. Those are often the things that matter most.
