Gotta keep Moncrief and Mewhort IMO.

Vontae will be looking for a big pay day, but he's also turning 30. If he would come back on a short term deal, perhaps 2-years, $22 million. I'll take it.

 

All three need to show that they can stay on the field.

I see it the same way. 

 

Moncrief and Mewhort are the only must keeps. I would love to bring back Vontae at a reasonable price too. It is possible.

I think Mewhort is way overrated.

I think Mewhort is very good.

 

BUT....

 

A.)    He's got a very balky knee and who knows what the doctor will say about his future....

 

B.)    Guards are now getting paid very big money.    Some guards are getting $10 Mill + a year.    I don't see Mewhort asking for that,  but he still may price himself out of what Ballard wants to pay a guard.     So, I think he's 50/50 at best.....

 

I'm in the camp that wants to bring Moncreif back in the range of $8 Mill per give or take.    We'll have to see what Donte does this season.....     he's an ascending talent.

The only thing we have to do is wait until the end of the season to talk about who gets re-signed and who doesn't. Should be based on performance.

Then it might be a good idea to pay close attention to those players listed above.

One of my top priorities would be Butler. 

 

May not be a star name, but his versatility and his ability to stay healthy are two massive plus points over others. 

 

Also, with so many young corners and safeties in the team, his veteran status will pay dividends with passing his knowledge and experience onto them.

He's one of Grigson's better draft picks but he should have taken  Gabe Jackson there.

I think we may need to pursue Vontae a little harder than that.   He is crucial to this defense.
