Hi, Colts Nation!  :) Our Indianapolis Colts are still seeking both their first win, and preseason win, as they are in The Steel City to visit and play the Pittsburgh Steelers.    

 

Colts are playing their first preseason game at Pittsburgh in five years. Steelers kicker Dan Hrappman kicked the game-winning 45-yard field goal with 9 minuites left in the fourth quarter, to defeat our Colts 26-24, back on August 19, 2012.

 

Third preseason game also traditionally features the starting and first-string units of the offense, defense, and special teams, stay on the field and allowed the most playing time, usually through the first half.  Some of those veteran first-string players might still not make the 53- man roster, and are still evaluated like the rest of the reserve and free agent players.

 

WXIN Fox 59 is televising the Colts @ Steelers beginning with the Preegame Show at 7:00PM Eastern Time.

 

Mostly sunny skies at 72 degrees is the game forecast inside Heinz Field. for the the 7:35PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with 0% precipitation, 53% humidity, and east/northeast winds at 5 miles per hour.

 

Good luck to our Colts and the rest of the NFL teams continue to form their 53-man regular season roster, with the reserve players, backups and signed and unsigned free agents, seek and audition for playing time on the playing field, while at the same time the Chuck Pagano and his coaching staff make the roster cut from the current 90-man to 53-man roster by September 3.

If we don't convert 3rd downs tonight then this forum is going to go nuts. And rightfully so. We are 5 for 30 in two preseason games. That MUST improve if want any chance of winning in the regular season. 

 

No three and outs. We need first downs and good yardage on every drive. Can't keep putting it all on the defense. 

 

We also MUST be better on first down. Can't keeping seeing 2nd and long situations. This means better play calling and execution.

 

Tolzien MUST look down the field. He cannot check down on 90% of the plays. He needs to grow a pair and throw the ball down the field. No risk; No glory. 

 

Last but not least - No Excuses!

      Looks like a tuff week and multiple toss up OT games    Atlanta      19       Jax      21 OT Dolphins    44.     Buffalo 32 *Vikings.      23.     Carolina  24 OT    * I think Vikes should win but by losing it will expedite Cousins to Jets, which I think the NFL favors?   *Denver.     16.        Chicago    17 OT       *Broncos should win but losing gets Payton closer to drafting Caleb, a very  desirable destination for the next super star QB   Ravens        23.        Brownies.   20 *OT    *a more traditional OT score for @VikingsFanInChennai    Steelers       19         texans     10 Rams            26         Colts       29 Bucs             25         Saints.     24 OT Washington  11.       Philly        30 Bengals         29.      Titans       28 Raiders.        26        Chargers  29 *Patriots        16.       Cowboys  17     * not comfortable picking cowboys but a loss could make Belichek/Kraft start thinking about Caleb    Cards           11.           SF.         26 *KC.               25.          Jets       02    *KC should romp but jets need some wins if their trading for a QB.... but still have a hard time picking jets in this one..       I was not a fan of the NFL during old times, but I've heard a lot about Fran..   I'd be okay with Cousins if the guy can think properly on football field, otherwise he's consistently elite in passing stats and never gets injured and misses a game. Only problem is he doesn't have the greatness between the ears to win it all for a franchise who has never won a Super Bowl.   If older Vikings fans ever want to see a trophy, the only way is to draft a franchise QB and hope it works in next decade or so. It's better than being good for 8-11 wins and an occasional play-off game with Kirk.   If he goes to say, Seahawks, and finish his career with all time records, the franchise at least has got SB win recently so they could be happy with some great exciting games with Cousins.   Vikings owner needs to focus on only thing - a Super Bowl trophy. For generations of fans who have never won it all.

      Understand... but why do you say that Jones will ever have to face his HC again?   Would you just like him to be placed in reserve list and the franchise releasing him by the end of the year or contract?   I think releasing him would do similar favor as he could get the help he needs and get back to NFL proving he's healed mentally. As he's a great player, some team would get him next year if he's back to his old self.   He can still salvage his career but more importantly he needs his family to take care of him and get the assistance he needs. I think releasing him would make him focus on getting back to NFL if he wants, or at least let him free to heal and move on towards next chapter in life.   Team could've placed him on a reserve list, I don't think there's any problem doing that technically, but either way he's been done a favor to get back to focus on his health.    He could still receive pension, retirement & veteran benefits from the league, right?
