NFL Radio Final Mock - 'McElroy's Mock Draft'

McElroy did say it was a hard decision, and one he is quite uncomfortable with in his mock draft.  I feel Ballard wants to trade down if possible, because it is a hard spot for us. Based upon all of the medicals and character issues, getting a solid mid round pick is not certain.  I trust Ballard doesn't want to risk too heavy and end up botching his very first draft pick in his new GM career.

I'll bet he has a plethora of round two to round 4 guys on his list, and trading down could make him look like a genius if he hits on a majority of them.

I think Indy has to go either OLB or ILB in round 1 now. Conley was the only CB I wanted in round 1. You can get value at CB in rounds 2-4.

That's what I'm hoping for. My preference would be Reddick rd 1, best OLB rd 2 and then use 2 of the next 3 picks on CBs....hell maybe all 3

Second time this week I've heard White mocked to us. He fits Ballard's stated parameters for corners, but I don't think he's a top 15 guy.

Me neither.  I'd take King before White and I'm not sure he is top 15 either.

I'd be fine with White IF we trade down.     I think he's in the 20's on my board.

I'd love to have Reddick,  but he might be the hottest rising name in the draft right now...   and, within the last 10 days or so,  I've seen a number of Mocks listing him in the top-13 and some even inside the top-10....

In other words,  he may be off the board by the time we pick at 15....

Of course, it only matters what is on the GM's big board though. Those mocks are just subjective opinion that has no bearing on where he will really go. Can't put too much stock into them. Still have some hope he'll fall to us.

Some of the people doing the mocks are talking to sources throughout the NFL.....

Not all mocks are just opinions and only opinions....     some are based on NFL sources.

No one saying "if this guy is available when we pick that's who we're taking..."     No,  nothing like that...

But more like "Our sources think this guy won't last until our pick.    We think he'll be long gone before it's our turn..."        that type of thing...

If a mock is based on "so and so is heavily considering taking Reddick with this pick" and it's before the Colts, that when you get worried. I'm just not worried about mocks unless there was a leak, and even then it's not guaranteed because a player they like better could fall to them. I would have to hear something like "the Bengals are considering taking Hasson Reddick with the 9th overall pick" today to get concerned. It's probably just some "experts" reacting to Foster and Conley, and that doesn't guarantee Reddick will go sooner, just makes it more likely. We could still get him.

Honestly,  I don't worry as much about a specific rumor linking one player to one team.      Because no one knows what the other teams are thinking,  or what trades may impact the rest of the draft.     Too many moving parts.

That's why I look for more broad statements....    "Christian McCaffrey is not likely to get past pick 14."    That leaves open a number of teams taking him.

"Haason Reddick might just end up going in the top-10"      Again,  broad statements but at least they give you a ballpark idea of where someone might go....

By the way,  I've heard and read both of those rumors in the past week or so.    Are they true and accurate?    I don't know,  but judging by the buzz,  they sure feel accurate....

We'll know at this time tomorrow!

Yep, can't wait! I think McCaffrey does go before us, mostly because the Eagles picking before us ups the chance significantly. Reddick, there's a good chance I'll admit, but I won't admit defeat yet. :) Will be a big day tomorrow, and to get a certain player to fall to us, it only has to happen once. Anything can happen!

    • Fries has proven to be a diamond find.  Figure our salary cap will determine how our OL future pans out. Starting WRs are some of the best in the league.  Can AR connect with them like Menshew done?    TE room wouldn’t mind adding Fannin but team needs devalue him as BPA.  Conyers is great in run blocking and can catch hoping falls to R4-6 range.    DL help is a major area of need agreed.  Think I had a Day 3 initial grade on NT Rene Konga but each week he has impressed.  Between Konga and Michigan’s Benny probably our two best choices for Stewart’s role.  See my recent Week 4 top 10-15 players posted especially for LB and DB options.
    • I would personally like to see more bootlegs, and more throws on the run. AR is SO good at that.   Especially since they love playing out of shotgun so much.
    • Army is playing mistake free football, very impressive so far. One of a handful of unbeaten Group of 5 schools.
