Person I want will be long gone which is why I was trying to move up. This was an oversight on my part

Just FYI - that's usually why you don't make trades like this until the pick being traded away is on the clock.

Didn't something similar happen a few years ago in the actual draft

It involved the Ravens and Vikings, if I recall correctly.  One team ran out of time.  The NFL rule is that if the team runs out of time, the next team can make a selection with the previous team being allowed to submit their selection at any time.  I think the Vikings ran out of time, so the Ravens submitted their pick before the Vikings submitted theirs, even though the Vikings were ahead of the Ravens.  At the end of the day, both teams got who they wanted.

All these trades are beginning to confuse me...

With the recent departure of Kony Ealy, the Panthers select Caleb Brantley, DL, Florida

@loudnproudcolt and the Bengals are on the clock

I'm going to give CR91 a break and consider the trade void.  Mistakes happen and he made an oversight.  However, I won't be as forgiving in the future.  Once a trade is publicly confirmed, it is final, even if an oversight is made.  It is the responsibility of a GM to make sure he/she knows what is being dealt before confirming.

It's been quite realistic.  No doubt the cards would trade a proven player on his rookie deal like Buchanan and replace him with a rookie

No you didn't,  You brought in rookies who bust at a rate of over 40%.  No GM would roll with three rookie LBers

The Vikes got borderline HoF DT Kevin Williams. It worked out.

Wasn't it two teams that jumped you guys?  Byron Leftwich was one,  not sure on the other.  I'm at work or I would Google it

I was way off.  I though the Ravens were involved.  It was Jacksonville and Carolina that jumped them

http://www.espn.com/nfldraft/columnist?id=1545117

The Vikings were forced on Saturday to make a rare "pass" on their first-round choice, the seventh pick overall, when they were unable to complete a proposed trade with the Baltimore Ravens before the 15-minute time limit lapsed. By taking a "pass," the Vikings delayed their choice, but were permitted to then make it at any ensuing time. But in frenzied flury in the minutes immediately following the Minnesota move, Jacksonville, choosing No. 8 overall, rushed in its card to pick quarterback Byron Leftwich. In lightning time after that, Carolina jumped in to choose offensive tackle Jordon Gross. Minnesota finally exercised its pick at the No. 9 slot, selecting defensive tackle Kevin Williams, one of the fastest-rising players in the lottery.

    • qbs and rbs have tangible abilities yu can see throughout a game (speed, throw power, accuracy, elusiveness)   Mahomes had one of the best seasons All Time and Barkely literally does everything yu can do as a rb as good or better than his piers. yu can see it, it flashes    Nelson is a guard, madden is skill position driven. it’s common sense. ppl don’t look en the trenches and say this lineman’s technique is AMAZING. yu want him rated highly bc he is a colt and yu want what yu see reflected i get it.    As a guard he has to consistently show he is improving and maintain his elite level. everything isn’t created equal why yu can’t grasp this fact idk
    • because there's a forum dedicated to gaming topics
    • It's not just about sacks, but hits, pressures, etc.. And these stats should be viewed by pass rush snaps to get a comparable pressures/snap value. So I trust my eyes, Clowney is ultra talented, but I have multiple "issues" with him. Compared to the others mentioned (tends to disappear for periods, even games, I'm not a big fan of his motor, his pass rush arsenal, etc. Again, I'm comparing him to the bests. Watch him - him exclusively, and all of his snaps - in a game, and watch Flowers. Or Clark. Imo you will see what I mean.)   We will see how the league values him, 'cause I think O'Brien does not want to keep him. So he'll be available, probably sooner than later.   My bet: no one will give a 1st + 2nd for Clowney, and he won't get the deal Clark (or Flowers) got in Kansas City (assuming he gets traded and extended this season, 'cause next year's market may skyrocket again, that's unpredictable).
    • No they didn't. The roots were indeed the Steel Curtain, but there's nothing in football withouts roots. The tampa2, as the middle lb dropping deep when he reads a pass play was Dungy's and Monte Kiffin-s invention/addition.
    • Mahomes has only played one season, yet he's already the best QB in the game with a 97 rating.  Barkley was also a rookie, yet he's the #5 RB with a rating of 91.   While Nelson was voted to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro, but is like G #8 with a rating of 87, behind guys like Ali Marpet and Kevin Zeitler...   How is that consistent?  Again, it's all subjective according to EA game developers.
