Why not? Saints needed the blocking TE and their contract with Fleener is not living up, and the Cardinals did not get much production out of their TEs plus the Cardinals had given up Fitzgerald, so their passing game needed a boost. Not to mention Michael Floyd is long gone. Saints drafted 2 WRs, and have Michael Thomas too.

Probably made the trade because they recognized Coby Fleener as a Colt from before. Just the recognizability made them feel good about the trade.
