Dontari Poe scheduled to visit

Recommended Posts

Dontari Poe in high demand. Visits Colts Sun, JAX, ATL, OAK and MIA wants visits as well. If Indy doesn't come correct he'll be traveling

Don't know how to copy a tweet on my phone. This is from LaCanfora

Hmmmmm, interesting.  I'd say if he doesn't have a contract when he leaves Sunday then he isn't gonna be a Colt.  He strikes me as one of those boom or bust players.

Getting Poe would be a big splash indeed, but would his contract be "doable" and still give us enough cap for other signings?

If Ballard wants him, and the Colts get a visit with him, then he's ours. It just depends on how much Poe wants for a contract. He's someone I actually don't have a dollar figure on as of now.

Well I personally would put he and Williams pretty close together and Williams just got around $10M per year.  i can't see him getting much more than that, maybe to 11 or 12 tops.  Anything more than that is bad IMHO.

I honestly don't want him if he's more than Brandon Williams. He just got signed as the highest paid NT in the NFL. Poe, with his back problems, should not be signed for more. Maybe if it was a 1 year deal, but even then, I'd only like to pay him around 8-9 million.

I would concur.  i really wanted Williams.

Sign Poe, Zach Brown, and Claiborne and we'll be sitting pretty.

I could get with that.  At least they are all young still.  but I would be surprised if Ballard makes a run at that many high-priced guys.  Personally, I'd be happy with just one of them.

Does anyone know the nature of his back issues? Has he had surgery in that area? How much playing time has he missed due to his back?

I don't think he missed much time, but his play wasn't the same this year.

I have a feeling he will sign a one year "prove it" deal with any team he signs with.

Yeah but with those 3, and a good draft we could actually have a GOOD D next year. Poe is a superstar. He just wasn't 100% last year. We could grab a couple EDGE rushers and another ILB in the first 3 RDS

Here's the tweet, sounds like we have a golden chance to seal the deal with Poe tomorrow. Would absolutely hate to see him land in Jax.

I could get behind this. If I could only have two of the three, give me Poe & Claiborne. If we can do that I'd say grab an edge rusher, a safety & a guard in the first three rounds.

Honestly, I'd rather just grab a corner in the 1st or 2nd than bring in Claiborne.

Thank you. I don't hate the idea of a one year "prove it" at all.

Pay the man 8-10 million all guaranteed with 2 more million in incentives. 2 year contract. With the second year being a team option for 12-13 million year (if he pans out to be what we expect). And if he does pans out, give him a the contract he deserves.

We had what, 50ish million to spend coming into this after the Doyle contract? We've spent 8 on Sheard and about 4.5 on Simon, so we still have about 35ish million to spend. We can definitely add Poe and still have room for a couple more additions.

Poe won't get more than a 1 year deal from anyone. My guess is 1 year 9.5M.

I'd say it would probably take us out of the Hightower race, but could probably still snag TJ Lang (OG). I could still see us re-signing Darius Butler as well.

Don't want Poe.....not as good last year as in the past....

.....purely a run stopper...

...I'm not a fan....

I'd do a one year deal with the Revis opt out function. I don't want to invest in him long term, but he could help short term. And if he opted out and re-signed somewhere else, he'd bring back a comp pick.

I'm okay with this as long as it's a one year deal.

This free agency period is going exactly as you predicted.     Which guy did we bring in that brought you back?  Was it Mingo?

Just busting your chops.   The fact poe hasn't been signed yet is curious.   Teams know something we don't.  If he leaves without a contract,  I'm good with him going elsewhere

I didn't think we were in the race for Hightower?

If poe was a superstar,  He wouldn't be unemployed currently

I feel la canfora should never use the term "come correct"

That's actually quite interesting, for my attitude is, as long as they don't utterly cash strap themselves cap-wise, which would then prevent ongoing moves to continue to improve, I really could not care less what a player is signed for, as long as he is a key signing to noticeably improve the team.  As a fan wanting to see the team WIN, I would never quibble over a guy being signed for $13M per year instead of $10M per year.  As long as that extra $3M does not strap the team, who cares, really?!

Not like the dough is coming from mine or your wallets.  lol

    • Josh Jacobs is the clearcut winner on this list for me. I'd be alright with every other player on the list.
    • Great!!!!!! All we need is for a rattle snake to Slither out of that high grass and bite Darius is the butt!   I LOVE the effort Darius, but hang with her while you wait for AAA to show up next time. Please
    • Darius Leonard changed his name from Clark Kent a few years back.
    • We were top 10ish in both O and D last year. I recognize the need to improve both. -our biggest problem on D was stopping the pass (because we couldn't get to the QB). -our biggest problem on O was we were anemic when teams doubled TY. We have no legit X and/or no legit vertical option other than TY -we have addressed DE with a proven guy like Houston, and should go iDL with the 26 -we have not addressed WR. we signed DF to a one year deal. he's not consistent, he's not a well rounded X, and he's not a vertical threat. I do think he'll be good in the slot, but that doesn't solve our deficiencies. he'll be great in the RZ, but we need a well rounded guy between the 20s. He's too similar to Ebron. IMO, he should have never switched from TE in college. He would have been a better, and more well rounded TE than WR.    I'm all for improving both. If you look at the numbers, and look at comparative games (Indy vs KC, Pats vs KC, Indy vs other top passing Ds), it's pretty clear.   -Our OL was top 10 by the end of the year. They'll improve in year 2 with chemistry and having their 2 rookies have a full off season. We don't need to swing for the fences. We're already projected to be top 5 in 2019. Take an OT mid or late if you have doubts about AC.   -DL is improved with Houston, but will also improve all around just having Houston garner attention. Turay should be improved in his second year. If we get a decent iDL in the 1st, that up the game again exponentially.   -DBs will benefit from the addition of Houston, Turay's improvement, and the addition of an iDL. S is more of an injury issue than a talent issue, and we signed another S (Kendrick) in FA. I'm fine with adding one though in the second. CB is fine with the scheme we play.    -LB is fine, with DL at the core. Walker should improve. LB is a devalued position and we could easily get a decent guy in the 3rd or 4th.    -We spent more in 2018 on TE than any other team. If Doyle is back, we don't need another. If he struggles this year, we make TE a priority in round 1 or 2 of next year while resigning Ebron.
