Hmmmmm.......9th pick?  That would make a definite difference in who you get.  My thought on that is there is someone they are targeting in that "top tier".  Wonder who it is?  Would a guy like Hooker still be there?  I said the other day on tape he reminded me of Ed Reed, and then watching the Combine I heard them say the same thing!

I think it is reasonable to assume that getting kicked out of the combine is the kiss of death.

Run. Run far away from that knucklehead.

I think the rumor is bogus anyway. The person reporting the story called Chris Ballard, "John Ballard". He has no clue what he is even making up.

LOL. True.

The fans would pack Chris's bags for him, drive him to the airport, and give him a one-way ticket back to Kansas City,

Cardinals look to have the first deal in place this FA period with Gresham, a 4 year deal in place it looks like.

The team is going to have to be active in FA. They had too many holes and have done nothing to keep their own FA's, it appears. I really wanted to keep Doyle and I'd love to keep Butler too but I don't think either one will  be back now.

Colts and redskins both contacted the Bengals about the 9th pick at the combine.

That one came from a person with 60 followers on twitter. Don't fall for it. It's fake.

I'd have to see how it turned out. If he becomes a hall of famer for us then I could forgive, but other than that I agree.

On the Colts front I've seen us linked to Paul Worrilow, Jack Spencer, DJ Fluker, and Chris Baker...no BIG names yet

Well if we are going to be "extremely competitive" for Bouye we will see just how much we can persuade a top free agent to come here.

According to some people on this forum, playing with Andrew Luck is enough to get free agents to come here instead of better weather locations, bigger markets, no state income tax etc.

We will soon see.

This area does seem to be the one place where Pagano does indeed have some type of magic touch. If Bouye comes to Indy for an interview, there's like an 85% chance that he's a Colt after that meeting.

Not sure that closing deals with FA's over the years has really been due to Pagano.  Is that even in his wheelhouse, as opposed to say, Grigson/Ballard/Raye?

Supposedly he's the one that got P-Rob last year, apparently meeting with Chuck is what sealed the deal.

I'm pretty sure over the years people have mentioned that Grigson was known as a "closer".

Edit: Here's an article on it. Man this seems like a distant memory...

Rob needs to make a big leap this year. Maybe isolating him in the slot with Bouye and Davis on the outside will do him wonders.

Well, considering who Grigson gave contracts to, most were going wherever the money was.

    • I personally don't think it is that simple.  For several reasons.  For one of course someone could come in and do it better.  He's not the greatest who ever lived, so yes someone, presumably many players could be better.   He played really well Sunday.  Not to denigrate his accomplishment but the team has been very fortunate the last two weeks as to what they have faced on the field and what they could have faced on the field.  So have the opponents.  Our secondary has been all kinds of banged up, but I am specifically talking about what JB needs to do.   Against KC, we ran the ball the entire second half against a bad and injured Dline after less than average start by JB in the 1st half.  He was a non factor in the 2nd half.  We were fortunate that Mahomes was injured, that Hill wasn't back, their OLIne was hurt.   Against Houston, the game plan was superb.  The Texans stacked the box with a poor secondary and JB made them pay just like an NFL QB should.  It was a good time to play them.  One dude was talking about he TDs.  Bubble screen and Shuffle pass are bascially handoffs.  The crosser to Pascal was an easy play for the protected QB and a special play by the WR.  The catch by Ebron is one of the best plays you'll ever see.   But was impressive to me was pocket presence for JB which I really hadn't seen yet.  He has had protection most of the time, and its been like "Stay in the * pocket dude and people will come open.  WEll he did that SUnday.   Darn windy response so far.   But why I say it's not simple is that JB may be at a replaceable level or he may be better than that.  Don't know yet.  I am still skeptical BUT saw some of the looking off, progressions, and pocket presence that I haven't seen from him.  It is a tough call IMO.     I think the real question is much more nuanced.  How likely is it that we can get someone better if JB isn't good enough.  A bunch of issues there.
    • If I had to guess...I would say 2-4 (maybe 3-3)...with more of a focus on rushing...especially around the goal line.   Hard to know what game plans would look like though...but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that Hoyer (or someone else) could operate well in this efficient Reich offense. They use a lot of rub routes and other creative ways of getting guys open...which helps any QB. It’s a far cry from the other offenses we have seen in Indy...except when NE came to town.   I remember, back in 2015, the Colts offense looking very efficient with Hasselback at the helm for a handful of games (which they won most of)...as they went to a similar offense. And I could see Hoyer doing just that.   But like Hasselback...I think he would get exposed eventually. Definitely have the best QB on the team going forward.
    • Interesting, is notice of requirement to visit a medical rep considered PHI?  And was it disseminated by a 'covered entity'?     To my understanding, People that get a hold of Protected Health Information (without illegal action of their own) and are not in the medical field and not in the direct care of the subject are not under HIPAA rules (covered entity). Those that allowed the leaks or discovery of such PHI may well be ... depending.   Also, Dr. John Lombardo independently runs the Substance abuse and PES testing.  (has been for 28 years).  The NFL/NFLPA collectively bargained the program, and he can be dismissed by either side at any time.   Each player faces one mandatory test per year under each policy. In addition, 10 players per team are chosen randomly by computer (cough: smart computer?) each week during the preseason, regular season and postseason to be tested under the policy on banned performance-enhancing substances. (only)   Rec drugs of abuse tested in the off season, or if one has previously rested positive.
    • I think we've pretty much covered that big win over Houston on Sunday, so let's look at our next opponent.   Denver actually scares me a bit...not saying it's a trap game, but after two big wins against two very good teams, it's possible for a let down against a weak Broncos team.   Their offense isn't very good, but they do have some weapons in the backfield.  I think if we get pressure on Flacco, then he's going to be ineffective.  If they decide to run the ball, then we need to be ready to stuff the running game.   Defensively, they aren't terrible...they have some very good DBs, so we may be running the running the ball more this week.   Reich has done a very good job designing an offensive game plan to exploit the opponent's weaknesses, so I expect the same this Sunday.   Thoughts?
