word is the Broncos and Minnesota Vikings will make offers to the GB guard.

Packers want him back but Denver and Minnesota need him badly..

...$8 mil a year

Look...I know 8 isnt a small number, but having one of the true, elite guards in the NFL protecting Luck would really help me feel better going into this season. I'd pay the man, no doubt.

Agreed...I think we should give them a call...

Denver may not have the money after they sign others...Minnesota needs him badly..

... he's played everything but left tackle and we've seen how good he is...

I like our guards but I like Lang better

And I like Zeitler even better, plus he's 3 years younger.

You can like him.....and we'd be taking him away from an AFC team.

.......its not either-or......sign them both

we have Andrew Luck at $25 mi at QB .......we need an elite line..we started 3 rookies last year and I like them.

But, with Andrew in his prime,  we are 'win now'

I'd rather stick with Mewhort at LG, as I don't think he'll cost as much as Lang, and stick Zeitler at RG.

I jumped off that train there.....I don't know who that is

Zeitler or Lang

///every year we spend the fall whining about Andrew getting beat up, stomped on and slammed down

and then we don't want to pay for top linemen?

Lets do it now.

if Mewhort is healthy.......Lang is obviously a top pass blocker and that's where our Luck lies..

...I would not go into next season with 3 2nd year O-linemen

Forget the money. Build the monster (in the line)

I'd still take Mewhort.

Andrew needs to worry about Andrew. He's got PLENTY he needs to work on and correct.

Warford is the starting RG for the Lions and a former 1st. rd. pick. Rated just below Zeitler and Lang.

I want the guy who blocked for Rodgers.....maybe we cant get him.

Zeiter is very highly regarded on a good line..maybe we cant get him..

I think we must make a move if the chance is there.

We need an elite line..not just a capable one

About 30 other teams in the league want that... I don't think there's any doubt the Colts will target 1 of those 3 G's, but the OL made HUGE improvements the last 6 weeks of the season, and that was with Kelly not fully healthy a couple of those games. Solidifying the RG spot is really all this OL needs.

I agree with you about the last 6 weeks....

but we need to prepare to win the AFC next year..and we don't have the O-line for that.

When we signed Andrew for the big bucks going into his prime...we put ourselves on 'the clock' ..we have the skill players on offense

You always want to draft and develop young players. It costs little,

But its time to go sign major players.

I think that's how you win know...and we cant win the AFC this year with the line we have now

Andrew is good enough for me.

We need a better offensive line.  We have to make a move to contend next year

They need a better OC.  I doubt they get that as long as Chuck is around.

I think T.J. Lang would be an awesome fit. He's coming off foot and hip surgeries and he turns 30 this coming season, but if the docs give him a good review I think he could be a fantastic signing. Guards can often play well through age 32 - 33 anyway.

I do hope the team makes a run at some of the FA guards this year. But I don't know how I feel about TJ Lang. He is a stud no doubt, but he's been hurt recently and is 30 years old. Obviously a guards career span tends to be a bit longer, but if we're looking at 8 million a year (or however much it is), i'm just not sure. I'd rather they shell out the big bucks to someone a tad younger, like perhaps a Warford or even Leary. Zeitler is we're lucky.

I wouldn't mind Lang, not at all. Dudes great. Just a bit hesitant is all.

Right.

The same OC who got us to 8-8 with 5 different QB's....

The same OC who got us to 8-8 with the 30th ranked defense.

I wasn't thrilled with Chud this year,   but of the top-10 problems with our offense,   he isn't even on the list.

We will know tomorrow who or if we make contact with as far as any FA's. You should know Ballard's direction very quickly. I would imagine Rappaport and Shefty will be using Twitter fast and furious all day to relay what is going on in agents talking with GM's.

One more thought, if we are going to get one of the 4 top RG's, 8M will be the starting place I believe. Too much money out there. We are one who has cap space, so use some of it wisely. Good young players. That is why I favor Warford, Zeitler over Lang.

WE can fix that this week

The Pats just won the AFC with a line who are individually no better than ours.

You shouldn't need 5 studs to make an acceptable o-line. If you have a couple of good players in that area (and we do) then scheme and coaching should be able to make the group as a whole better than the sum of its parts.

Not convinced of that.  I do know they don't have the defense to win the AFC.  Point is, the play calling puts a lot of stress on the colts offensive line.  I don't see that changing much by acquiring a RG.  Having said that, an upgrade wouldn't be a horrible thing.

Similar argument you used for Grigson and Pep.  Just because he's done some good things doesn't mean he can't be upgraded.

Really, I just prefer a different offensive philosophy.
