CR91 Mock draft 2.0 with trade

Recommended Posts

Colts trade 2ND, 4th, and next year's first for both of the browns second round picks

4th comp pick for fleener

7th went to the browns did Billy Winn trade

1St-Dalvin Cook RB-I know people don't want a RB in the first, but the more I watch, the more I see a special talent that would add new dimension to our offense we haven't had since edge.

2nd- Jameel Johnson NT- Beast. Only word I think of when watching his tape. Relentless and powerful.

2nd- Tim Williams OLB- tremendous first round talent, but off the field issues will have him slip. Could be absolute steal if he cleans up his act.

3rd- Jalen Reeves Maybin ILB/OLB if you've seen my previous mocks, you know how much I love maybin. Speed and powerful hitter and all over the field

4th- Devonte Fields OLB- size, speed, and talented, but like Williams has off the field issues as well. Another steal if he can get his head right.

5th- Tony Connor S- I love this kid. Tough fast and can lineup anywhere, but hasn't been the same since his injury

6th - Darius English OLB- undersized pass rusher with a lot of upside.

I just can't get past trading a future 1st unless its for a blue chip prospect. If Luck went down next year (knock on wood), we could miss out on a top 5-10 pick.

It's also possible that pick ends up in the twenties

I really don't see the value in trading 3 picks (including a future 1st) for 2 second round picks.

Value is I'm fixing our defense with just two players if they pan out in exchange for a pick that possible be a late round pick

I could understand maybe trading to jump back into the third since that is common for Grigson but I do not see this happen.  He lost a first once before and has seen a lot of heat for that.

Past failure doesn't deter future successes. Yes I know that sounded like a fortune cookie haha

You want to trade a 1 and a 2 and a 4 for TWO 2's?!?

Dear God,  no.

You've got WAY too much time on your hands and are badly over-thinking things.

Sorry.

Two high second round picks.

I got us a special rb, improved our dline, got us bookend pass rushers, a talented tackler with a lot of speed and range all for what will be probably be a late pick. What's the problem exactly?

You paid too much for it.     Way too much.

So fixing the defense and getting another dynamic weapon is not worth it?

We're not going to fix this team in one off-season.     This is a multi-year fix.

And trading 3 picks for 2 is a poor way of fixing anything.     Especially when we have so many needs.

And I don't want to trade a future draft pick. especially when it's a FIRST ROUND PICK!

We're not one draft away from being a very good team.....

We're not so bad that we need a few drafts to get back to where we were. This draft fixes a lot of issues we have.

Yes....   we are.      We're 30th in overall defense.    30th out of 32 teams.

We have no playmakers,  no difference makers.       We need a ton of help.

And we need help over several years....    that's the way good defenses are built.

And with this single draft, I fixed the front seven which is the biggest issue

I know that most draft enthusiasts love to trade, especially trade down.  Myself, most of the time I avoid them, and if I do it's usually not a radical trade like yours.  Reason being, it just makes the mock more unlikely (with the big trades)  That being said, I like most of your picks (specially Jaleel).  Do you really think Maybin will go that high though?   You might want to check out draftwired, I think it's a much more professional and realistic app.  dont have the link handy, but you can just google 'draftwired'  (I think).  It's new and not well known but far better in my opinion.

OK....   if you think so.....    we'll just agree to disagree.

But, I'm going to ask a small favor....    bookmark this thread.     Let's see what happens after the draft.

How realistic was the draft?      Were the players you wanted even around when the Colts would've picked?

Let's take a look back on this in May and see what happened....

Of course I'll be wrong. No one gets the draft correct

I'm not expecting you to get every name predicted to the Colts.

My point is.....     how realistic were your picks.     You've got Tim Williams going to the Colts in the 2nd round.   But if he goes in the 1st,  then your mock wasn't realistic.

You've got Maybin in the 3rd,  Fields in the 4th,  Connor in the 5th.      If they're gone before where you have them picked,   then it's not very realistic,  is it?

That's how I judge a realistic draft.....

I didn't even get to Cook in the first.       What if he's not there?

There are lots of things that go into a mock....     my biggest criteria is how realistic is it....

We won't know until early May.....         So, let's take a look then....

You realize this won't be my last mock? Obviously a lot will change about players from now til then

This draft would fix issues but again this draft would never happen.  I would have to agree with NCF from above and say a lot of your players will not fall that far plus we would be stupid to do this trade.  I could see us getting or having the possibility to draft Cook in the first but Tim Williams fallen to the 2nd? I have not seen him drop past the top-15 yet.  I could see Maybin being there in the 3rd but Fields will be long gone before the 4th.  These are just mocks though so I am curious to see your next one.

    • I compared AR to Mike Vick recently but didn't get alot of reaction.   AR may never fix his accuracy issues like Vick who struggled with short and intermediate accuracy his entire career.    But Vick was a dynamic runner and could hit the deep bombs with just a flick of the wrist.   Vick resurrected a very sad Falcons franchise and I was a huge fan.   If AR became Vick 2.0 would Colts fans be happy ? I would be
    • Seems like this team gets a lot of untimely injuries that come out of nowhere. Smith and Kelly, Lewis injuries just appeared out of nowhere. None of those injuries were even mentioned after the Bears game.
    • Yep. He must of woke up Thursday with it. I assume Pinter will play center if he can’t go. That tackle slot is worrisome if smith can’t go. The defense is looking ridiculously banged up.
    • QB is hard.  It's easy to sit back and expect guys to look like Marino but every QB has a different ceiling and a different path to that ceiling.  And again getting there is a long and tough road and the toughness in that road includes everything from injuries to quality of the team around them.   Richardson still looks like the guy we saw on tape in college.  He is an elite run threat who can put the ball anywhere on the field, but his consistency in ball placement is not good.  I used to believe that can't be fixed.  Until Josh Allen.  Now these types of QBs are guys teams will take a flyer on, because of supply and demand, and the immense impact if you can hit on one of them.  But here we are and he's still the same QB, which is a bit of a concern to me at this point.   It's not like he doesn't still have time to get his game in order.  He does.  And even if he fails in Indy he'll have another chance with another team due to his talent level.  So it's still too early to get all crazy about where he's at.   For myself I'll say what I keep saying about him: he needs to learn to move the offense from the protection of the pocket.  That is how you have a long career and end up in the Hall with a million passing yards.  If he does not develop that part of his game the end result will be his teams will use his legs to move the offense and he'll get hurt and miss time and demonstrate why RBs have such a short shelf life.  So his career is in his hands.  He has to learn and do it or he'll suffer the results.
    • I wonder how Kelly got his neck injury he seemed fine and even practiced on Wednesday right,
