Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

It is Jackie Robinson Day today. It is the 70th Anniversary of when Jackie Robinson integrated baseball. A month or so later, Larry Doby integrated the AL, playing for the Cleveland Indians.

As most of you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.  But you don't know that at one time I was a Cubs fan.  This was in the early 1980's while I was in college and got cable TV.  Our TV provider had WGN and sin

I wonder if his arm is bugging him? A lot of tweaking to the lineup, Bryant will be RF again, I know it's just temporary, but I prefer him at third. In Madden I trust.

Cards came back to win 6-5, doesn't shock me. They are playing really well right now. Cubs still up 5-0.

Yes they are Sierra who was called up from high class A for the OF has made the most of it , blazing speed , causes problems for defenses, and was a major part in that comeback . Fowler drove him in for the winning run. They have not used Fowler in the field yet has been throwing on the side. They are not rushing it and letting shoulder get back to normal. He is on the bench as a hitter. The Cards are deep in the farm , Sierra was not the best option but was already on 40 man roster. If not for that it would've been Bader or Cunningham. Jed Gyrko has settled in at 3rd and probably has won that job. If he keeps it up I can see them signing him longterm.

In a lot of respects these 2 teams are very much alike. As you said before they are both very capable of running off long winning streaks Cards have won 6 straight on the Road. Some didn't realize they had the best road win % in baseball last year and that's what puzzeled me why not at home.

I try to remember that. I saw someone wearing a t-shirt with your mantra written on it. I took a picture and thought of posting it but it was too big.

So, the Mets lost one this afternoon. In the 7th, I checked the score while I was at work. I think it was 3-2. I think the closer gave up 4 runs in the 9th. We lost 6-5.

I think the Mets are off tomorrow and play the Brew Crew on Friday.

Yes. They have been hitting a lot better since Cespedes has been out. They are less reliant on the home run.

We were about to get the sweep today. The closer gets the double play grounder but the 3rd baseman tries to rush it and makes the error that leads to 4 runs. Ugh.

Let's see how they fare this weekend.

It will be an interesting series. Cards are red hot and the Cubs are slumping. Baseball is a game of hot steaks, Cubs may catch fire this weekend and the Cards may struggle, who knows? This season has been real up and down regarding many teams. Anything can happen this weekend.

Cards ended up winning the wife and I went to bed and were finishing game but didn't see end Got hammered by a storm about 10.45pm power went out we went out to go to work tree fell on top of power line covering drive no other way to get out . If that wasn't bad enough had attached line running across ground right in front of wifes car and across the hood of my car. So we were going nowhere till power company got there. Just got power back at 8pm. More of Terre Haute hammered as well may be up to 7 days till all power restored.

Sounds bad up there

I am somewhat shocked we didn't lose power since most of our Power comes from Central Indiana even though one of the world's largest Coal Power Plant is about 10 Miles away and Own by our Provider

    • The only way that Darius Leonard is not a Colt is if he demands something absurd like starting QB money and is unwilling to negotiate. Chris Ballard would lose all credibility with his locker room and across the league if he were to let Leonard walk or traded him because he didn't want to pay him. Ballard is now at the point where he is has to put Jim Irsay's money where his mouth is. Besides, our owner has never shied away from paying our best players top dollar when they deserve it. Leonard will be a Colt and a very rich man for years to come!
    • The whole thing with Shannahan's system is that it simplifies and makes life easier for whoever the QB is. It creates tons and tons of open throws and usually all the QB needs to do is make a simple read on a secondary defender(or dropping LB). That's the reason why he made players like Nick Mullens, Matt Schaubb, CJ Beathard look good in stretches. That's why Kirk Cousins and Jimmy G, both of whom lack playmaking ability have looked like average to above average QBs in that system. But at the same time Shannahan himself chose to move on from Jimmy G. I just have no idea why he would give up on Garropolo and trade 3 1sts +3d in order to get a QB who in one of the better outcome scenarios will be about what Garropolo is now. I think Shannahan wants more and he knows that with his system AND with added playmaking and running threat from a dynamic QB, his offense will be unstoppable.   Like I said before... he gave up a 2nd and a 4th for the Jimmy Gs and Kirk Cousins' of the world. Do you know who his team gave up 3 1st round picks + for? Robert Griffin III. And he looked amazing with Shannahan before he got hit by injuries.
    • I completely agree with this. It would change people’s outlook for sure. Specially using all the metrics you mentioned. I think what has moved Jones up the board so much was the Senior bowl. He showed how coachable he was and that he can make any throw. Rhule loved him after that week.
    • Sometimes, I wish GMs could make an evaluation without names involved.   Player A vs Player B - Advanced stats and metrics vs elite competition, supporting cast, X factors, coachability, intelligence, longevity of stats, measurables etc. and then get the name revealed to them as to who player A or player B is after they make their decision in a vacuum.
    • And this is my belief. The whole Jones was a Bama QB so he has this and that I think is terrible.
