Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

As most of you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.  But you don't know that at one time I was a Cubs fan.  This was in the early 1980's while I was in college and got cable TV.  Our TV provider had WGN and sin

It is Jackie Robinson Day today. It is the 70th Anniversary of when Jackie Robinson integrated baseball. A month or so later, Larry Doby integrated the AL, playing for the Cleveland Indians.

I wonder if his arm is bugging him? A lot of tweaking to the lineup, Bryant will be RF again, I know it's just temporary, but I prefer him at third. In Madden I trust.

Cards came back to win 6-5, doesn't shock me. They are playing really well right now. Cubs still up 5-0.

Yes they are Sierra who was called up from high class A for the OF has made the most of it , blazing speed , causes problems for defenses, and was a major part in that comeback . Fowler drove him in for the winning run. They have not used Fowler in the field yet has been throwing on the side. They are not rushing it and letting shoulder get back to normal. He is on the bench as a hitter. The Cards are deep in the farm , Sierra was not the best option but was already on 40 man roster. If not for that it would've been Bader or Cunningham. Jed Gyrko has settled in at 3rd and probably has won that job. If he keeps it up I can see them signing him longterm.

In a lot of respects these 2 teams are very much alike. As you said before they are both very capable of running off long winning streaks Cards have won 6 straight on the Road. Some didn't realize they had the best road win % in baseball last year and that's what puzzeled me why not at home.

I try to remember that. I saw someone wearing a t-shirt with your mantra written on it. I took a picture and thought of posting it but it was too big.

So, the Mets lost one this afternoon. In the 7th, I checked the score while I was at work. I think it was 3-2. I think the closer gave up 4 runs in the 9th. We lost 6-5.

I think the Mets are off tomorrow and play the Brew Crew on Friday.

Yes. They have been hitting a lot better since Cespedes has been out. They are less reliant on the home run.

We were about to get the sweep today. The closer gets the double play grounder but the 3rd baseman tries to rush it and makes the error that leads to 4 runs. Ugh.

Let's see how they fare this weekend.

It will be an interesting series. Cards are red hot and the Cubs are slumping. Baseball is a game of hot steaks, Cubs may catch fire this weekend and the Cards may struggle, who knows? This season has been real up and down regarding many teams. Anything can happen this weekend.

Cards ended up winning the wife and I went to bed and were finishing game but didn't see end Got hammered by a storm about 10.45pm power went out we went out to go to work tree fell on top of power line covering drive no other way to get out . If that wasn't bad enough had attached line running across ground right in front of wifes car and across the hood of my car. So we were going nowhere till power company got there. Just got power back at 8pm. More of Terre Haute hammered as well may be up to 7 days till all power restored.

Sounds bad up there

I am somewhat shocked we didn't lose power since most of our Power comes from Central Indiana even though one of the world's largest Coal Power Plant is about 10 Miles away and Own by our Provider

    • Also, just because I'm starting to feel some kind of way about this, Mac Jones is getting short changed these days. He's a really good prospect, and people are treating him like he's an unathletic bum with no arm.   Blake Bortles went #3 in 2014. Sam Darnold went #3, and Josh Rosen went #10 in 2018. None of them were unable to succeed due to athletic shortcomings. Mac Jones tested just as good, if not better, than all of them. (Bortles was actually pretty good as a scrambler, despite his mediocre testing.) I already used the Jared Goff comparison; he went #1 in 2016, and went to the SB in 2018. Mac Jones tested as good as Goff.   He doesn't have super speed or quickness, but he's not stuck in mud. He moves well enough to stay alive in the pocket, and he has enough movement ability to scramble when needed. He doesn't have a cannon of an arm, but his arm is not deficient. He's very good from the pocket, he processes well, not a one-read thrower, very accurate, and tough.    If Bortles, Darnold and Goff could go top five in the last 7 years, so can Mac Jones. Of course, he needs to be better than them to live up to that draft status, but again, their issues weren't about lacking athleticism.    Just saying, again, the anti-Mac stuff is getting a little overboard. I like Fields and Lance better, but Mac Jones being desirable isn't entirely outrageous.
    • I am a little confused?  So you are advocating a less talented edge at 21 than more talented OT?  Or am I just reading this incorrectly?  Because I believe the difference in OT quality and Edge quality at 21 clearly favors the OT.
    • I actually like the idea of trading back into the top of the 2nd and at least getting a 3rd rd pick that would not be a compensatory pick.  IF we wanted to move Q to LT Meinerz would be an ideal choice to pull it off.  That said picking at the top of the 2nd could still have Eichenberg and Little still available to mention a few LT’s.  I would rather go that route still taking a LT then take WR or CB with our 2nd and we have a nice 3rd rd pick to boot.  Then we could move up higher in the 2nd if we want as well.
    • I think Schefter does a reasonably good job of presenting his opinions as just opinion, and he presents rumors and uncertain information accordingly as well. Lots of 'I think,' 'I'm hearing,' 'I've been told,' 'the feeling is,' etc...    Here, he said: "It will be Mac Jones." Came across different to me. Then he kind of couched it a few days later, making me think maybe there was room for things to change, he didn't mean for it to sound as definitive as it did, whatever.   I think there was plenty of room for things to change. The Justin Fields epilepsy news is one thing; whether teams knew about that before the last few days is unknown, but they know now. If the Niners were on the fence prior to having that information, that could push their decision in one direction or the other.   Also, it's very possible that they moved up knowing they'd have their pick of whatever three QBs are still there at #2. Maybe they already knew the Jets were going with Wilson, but either way, going up to #3 gave them the peace of mind to know that they could get whichever guy they like out of the Fields, Lance and Jones. Maybe they had a favorite already, but I doubt they had their minds made up one way or the other. They just knew they wanted a QB, and #3 was as high as they could get.
    • I will be there Monday vs Phillies. Up in the Big Mac Land section
