No, you are not oblivious. It has been only a couple months ago. But I am the same person. No change. I may even be nicer. :)

@PuntersArePeopleToo Thank you for letting me know about the catcher we signed. By checking the Mets site, I learned that we are close to hiring a new GM. It is not Theo or the guy I favor (Dave Dombrowski). They are candidates that I never heard of.  I will post their names later.

He is on my keeper fantasy league and has really come on the past 2 seasons.  Not sure about his defensive metrics, but when he gets a chance to play, he put up good numbers.  He will hold his own offensively and this allows the Mets to pursue other free agents.  McCann was a lot cheaper that Realmuto would have been.

Ya you guys got Jared Porter from the AZ who was AGM. He was with the Red Sox for years, then the Cubs, before he got the job in AZ. He was the favorite for the Cubs open GM spot, but you guys got him. And Dombrowski got the President job for Phillies, which makes sense as he was not going to be a GM and you guys got Alderson at the very top

Darvish and Caratini traded to Padres, Davies and youngggggg prospects. Including a 17 and 18 year old and 2 19 years old. The Cubs Rotation right now is Hendricks, Davies, Alzolay, Mills, and then Miller Steele, or Thompkins

Also snell went to Padres too in a trade

Padres are not playing around.

Watch out for those guys.

Looks like the Cubs are trying to get younger, I am not sure about losing Darvish though. Thanks for the info.

None of the prospects have played A ball yet, They are yearssss away. And also the first year, he was injured and trying to fight through it which caused his bad numbers, once his health came back the numbers approved

There are many Yankees fans here but they don't post on this thread. Coltsfansince65 is a big Yankees fan. There are Oriole fans too but it is mostly the National League fans that post here. Hopefully you will post here. This is one of the best threads here. Most of us get along. :)

I hate to praise the Cubs, but this was a good move by them.  Unload a 34 year old pitcher and stock up with young talent for the future.

DANG. I had heard rumors, and get why they’re doing this, but wow our pitching will struggle even more now. Who’s next? Hendricks? I haven’t seen an “official” release of Lester, I know his contracts up and he had a rough year. Darvish seemed to be back in his prime too.....:Cry:And Caratini had a great bat and was a pretty good backup catcher. Good luck to both of them.

Hope the Cubs find some diamonds in the rough.

What's up Jay, hope all is well my friend. Cubs little 6 yr run may be over, as far as winning a lot. No Theo, little pitching, Kyle is gone. It was a great 6 yr run when you factor in the WS win, 5 playoff apps, 3 division titles, and all the other wins. Our play by play guy on TV left the team as well.

Colts have had a good season but there is a chance we may miss the playoffs at 11-5 unfortunately.

It is more we traded him for guys that are 5ish years away at least, Especially with Padres having very strong farm system that we could have had a closer to MLB player.

Lester's option was declined, he is a FA and could and has told them he wants to be a Cub next year though.

And ya that was just low prospects just for how much risk and how far away. I am gonna miss the fun of all this

Yeah the Cubs finally became a team people had to take serious from 2015-2020 (instead of being a laughing stock). We won a WS and 3 Division Titles, with 5 playoff appearances in that timeframe but 2021 isn't looking promising. Our overall rotation looks average at best. I like Hendricks but after that it is shaky. Theo left us, Kyle left us, even Len Kasper our TV guy left us and I loved him the way he called games. We will always have these fun teams like with the Colts from 2003-2009. 10 years from now we can call the 6 season run the Cubs had as their golden era like we do with the Colts from 2003-2009. I don't have high hopes for 2021 and you know me I am usually real positive.

Well Schwarber was cut, he genuinely seemed hurt by the decision too, and from what I’ve read is still interested in coming back if the opportunity presented itself. I think he’s concerned about what’s going to happen to designated hitters after this season.

Of course there’s the rumors of MVP being traded away for a “super package,”

wonder what that’ll be...

Ugh and now I’m seeing rumors of them shopping Contreras too?! You have got to be kidding me?!?!?:censored:

Yeah I am not sure what the Cubs game plan is right now. Getting rid of Darvish is questionable but he is 34.

Hey @PuntersArePeopleToo any news on my team? I have not been following much.

@Barry Sears What do you think about the Rays' moves?

I'm not happy about losing Snell, but that's the way the Rays operate.  Keep payroll down and try to get the most return on a trade.  They get 4 players for Snell...the one pitcher looks pretty good and may pan out, but he's not winning a Cy Young Award, most likely.  Couple of catching prospects included, which is one of the Rays weak areas on the roster.

Then, they also trade Alvarado in the 3 team deal and get a first base prospect and player or cash to be determined later.

Again, this deal was to reduce payroll.  So, they now have Morton, Snell and Alvarado off the books, so they'll look to pick up some cheap free agents to fill roster spots.

The Rays have a great minor league system with lots of prospects that they keep promoting or using in trades to bolster the farm system.

I hear they are trying to move Kiermaier to get his salary off the books, but they will not get much back on him.  Great center fielder, but not much offense.

The Padres are making a big splash this week and on paper they are much improved, so we'll see if they can catch the Dodgers, but I know the Dodgers aren't finished making moves yet.

I wonder why? Any idea? Are they trying to sell the team? I believe last year or the year before, they had about 10 of the top 100 minor league prospects. So, the Rays may have gotten a few of those.

This offseason will be an interesting one.

Just the opposite...they are trying to win the division.  They have been able to get Snell and Darvish without trading away any of their top prospects.  They still have lot of talent in their minor league system.  They have done a very good job in acquiring talent without trading their top young talent.

Hoyer said that report was fictitious. While they have received "on everybody" they arent straight shopping him

He could be traded yes, but it would be for a good package since he is a top Catcher and not expensive

Major score for the Metropolitans

@NFLfan just read the Cubs and Mets discussing a Kris Bryant trade, that could be interesting. Both our teams could have quite a different look next season

Angels trying to get Contreras, Maddon was pretty close with him so could possibly happen.

RIP Tommy Lasorda.:(

Rest in peace, Tommy Lasorda. He was a great ambassador for baseball.

I have to read more on the Kris Bryant trade rumors. I don't like to trade for other teams' stars but let's see what we give up. He is still young and has lots of years left to play. Right?

Posted

The Mets made a blockbuster trade earlier this week acquiring Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco from the Cleveland Indians. Mets fans seem to be ecstatic with the trade but some say we gave up too much. I don't follow the American League; so, I don't know them well. What do you all think?

Ya he is still young, one more year of control left Not likely to be expensive to aquire, money plays a big part.

And Lindor is one if not the top SS in league overall. And you guys will now have a better chance at signing him as he is a FA next year.

Carrasco came back from cancer a year ago and he is one of the betters pitchers kinda a middle rotation with top upside
