Aroldis Chapman 3 games suspension for throwing at head of Rays

Boone and Cash each get one.

Also KB is sitting out today's game, but don't worry @2006Coltsbestever he is only sitting out because Ross was adamant about easing him back in from the IL and do not want to rush things

Yeah he did play last night and had a hit but his wrist must still bothering him. Happ and Bote have been playing well so it is all good. We need KB healthy for the playoffs.

From the quotes I saw, he wanted to play but Ross wanted to ease him back and wouldnt hear it especially with the really long game on Tuesday. Even more fun was no Heyward or Schrawber and yet we still put up 8. That I say is real nice when two of the best hitters the last week or so dont play and still hit that spot. I also saw Mills starting instead of Darvish like I thought it'd be, but makes sense, you want Darvish against Cards with the way that he has been pitching

Yeah that is smart starting Yu at least once vs the Cards. I have to say so far giving what has been going on with the Covid-19 and no fans in the stands, Ross has done a fine job so far. I will take 22-14 and 4 games up over the Cards with 24 to play.

@Myles, @Barry Sears, @landrus13, @Jay Kirk, with 8 teams getting in the Cards and Cubs both will get in pretty easily IMO.

The Cubs are pretty muched locked in a post season berth.   The Cardinals are only a game or so in.   Only a game up on the Brew Crew for the 2nd spot in the division and then tied with Miami and a half game up on the Rockies for the final spot.

Cubs might be reaching destiny levels this season. I wouldn't be upset to see them win another one. I'll be happy if the Reds at least string some wins together and show progress at the end. We need some sort of hope for the future...

For his last 4 starts. Both him and Hendricks seem to be missing their spots, like both need to have control and in the last couple weeks, neither has had control like they need

Sure did! He was my dad’s favorite pitcher. Fantastic player and an even better human being.

The Reds had some good pitchers. I recall the days when the Reds had Jose Rijo, Tom Browning, Norm Charlton and Rob Dibble. I looked forward to seeing Reds games when Dibble was on the team. haha

I was too young to have seen Tom pitch. I became a fan the same year that he retired. The Mets have had some really good pitchers in their history -- Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Jerry Koosman, Doc Gooden, Pedro Martinez, Frank Viola, David Cone, and so many more. Seaver was the best. The Mets have historically been known for their pitching yet did not have any pitcher throw a no-hitter until about 10 years ago. Many of their pitchers threw no-hitters but not with the Mets. For years, the Mets and the Padres were the only teams without no-hitters. Johan Santana finally pitched a no-hitter for the Mets about 10 years ago.

Anyway, Tom was great. I also enjoyed him doing Mets games after he retired.

Kimbrell looked good at least Happy Will Ferrell GIF

Same as PT, I turned it off after Adam gave up that bloop hit. How do you through it to the second baseman in the OF and not the SS on the base. As I said previously, Kimbrell just needs to not pitch in Cincy.

Also for those with Comacst, you can now stream Marquee , finally.

Marquee is still not part of the RSN package on Direct

Big 5 game series coming up with the Cards as @landrus13pointed out.

To maintain a decent lead, all the Cubs have to do is win 2 of 5 and they still will be in control. If something crazy happens like the Cards winning 4 of 5 or a 5 game sweep then we have a problem. If the Cubs take just 2 games they would still be up 2.5 games with not many games left. If the Cubs win 3 of 5 and get out of the series with a 4.5 game lead it is pretty much over IMO.

What do you mean? I mean ik they have DirectTv as a partner?

In market you can get it at the choice and out of market it can only be viewed during the game through the Extra Innings Package

I have the RSN package and watch every RSN from across the country(except Pac12 Network)) but can only see Marquee during Cubs game

Ahh okay. something with where you are located i am guessing. I am still in Illinois, and use my sister account to get access. You arent missing much on channel right now, they are slowly getting some shows up

It cant be harm to have Strop at SB just in case he can capture something, but even more so maybe bring him around the team after this year in a Assistant type role. He is so good for morale and is loved by the other guys.

And great Darvish start tonight. The one hit/HR was out with wind into the basket.

Willy had 4 RBI and 3 hits. He probably starts game one tomorrow with Caratini game 2 I would think.

Happ hopefully can play one of the games tomorrow maybe could 2

Man, I really miss seeing the fans sing and show the W flags after the home wins...

They can pipe it in, but not the same.

I really miss being there and hanging out in Wrigleyville.

Yup, probably the only reason I would prefer Chi over Indy...

But then I would miss being close to the Colts, downtown Indy is special on gameday!

As of now having a 4.5 game lead over the Cards and Brewers (who are tied for 2nd) feels good. Still not over but the Cubs now only have 22 games left sitting at 23-15 on the season. Yu Darvish is 7-1 with an era of 1.44, he may win the CY Young award?

Posted

Darvish pitched a gem last night. He's probably the front runner for the CYA right now. Cardinals offense sure didn't show up last night. I'm sure Darvish played a role in that as well. Flaherty didn't pitch well. He hasn't been himself this season. Cards need to win both today to make me feel good about this series. Wainwright and Hudson on the mound today. Gonna need another Waino gem this evening.

Go Cards!!

    • I hope he can last till the Colts pick.
    • The more I consider it, the more concerned I get.  When I look at the first year statistical comparisons that I posted earlier, Mitchell looks a whole lot more like Phillip Dorsett than he does anyone else.   Mitchell - 13 games | 7 starts | 20 catches on 45 targets (44.4%) | 254 yds | 0 TD's | 19.5 yds/game Downs - 17 games | 9 starts | 68 catches on 98 targets (69.4%) | 771 yds | 2 TD's | 45.4 yds/game Pittman - 13 games | 8 starts | 40 catches on 51 targets (65.6%) | 503 yds | 1 TD | 38.7 yds/game Moncrief - 16 games | 2 starts | 32 catches on 49 targets (65.3%) | 444 yds | 3 TD's | 27.8 yds/game Hilton - 15 games | 1 start | 50 catches on 90 targets (55.6%) | 861 yds | 7 TD's | 57.4 yds/game Dorsett - 11 games | 0 starts | 18 catches on 39 targets (46.2%) | 225 yds | 1 TD | 20.5 yds/game Wayne - 13 games | 9 starts | 27 catches on 49 targets (55.1%) | 345 yds | 0 TD's | 26.5 yds/game
    • As we go through our discussions and observations for Richardson, we've mostly used two quarterbacks as comparison:  Josh Allen (for his early inaccuracy, strong arm, and ability to run) and Cam Newton (for his imposing physicality and strong arm). There's one other quarterback that I feel needs to be in the conversation: Justin Fields Through his career in Chicago, he was a phenomenon running the ball.  He ran for over 1100 yards in 2022!  But he had a lot less success throwing the ball.  So much so that the team finally decided to move on from him after only 3 seasons. I'm not saying "Richardson is exactly like Fields".  But I am saying that the comparison has merit, and bears watching.
    • I implore you to go back and watch the tape from his first 2 seasons. His accuracy was woeful.
    • Nice. I’ve heard people say they think he’s a 1st round caliber corner. I hope he goes to the Senior Bowl.
