Yeah he just doesn't have it anymore.

I like Jeffress better than Kimbrell at this point.

Had a gut feeling he was goi g to cost us the game. :hissy:

My thought, he and Hendrick shouldnt pitch at GABP. They both seem to have something off there. Before that Kimbrell had looked much better till that game

10-1 Cubs now, in the 9th. Kyle just hit a grandslam. Safe to say this is over. Hozer you can Fly the Flag early lmao .

2 HRs each by the OF Happ, J-Hey and Schrawber. All of the offense came off of those HRs. Also Reds only Run was a HR. Nico had a real nice play to end an inning bases loaded jam.

Also, 5 ejections last night! That was great watching Votto and Winkler kicked out

Cards won 7-2 today. Wainwright threw a complete game on his 39th birthday. Only gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and 9 strikeouts. He looked really good. Offense woke up a little today.

Yep you guys are still hanging around, 3.5 games isn't a huge lead. I won't feel good until it is around 5 games with about 15 games to go lmao . There is still a ways to go.

Trade Alert

The Cubs got a lefty reliever in Andrew Chafin from Arizona

@2006Coltsbestever @HOZER @PuntersArePeopleToo

It is conditional, he is on IL right now. If he comes back in a couple weeks, the Cubs send a low level guy. If he doesnt, we dont. Also AZ is paying his salary down to the minimum so we are only on hook for the minimum

Should be close to being activated

Nothing happening for the Cardinals at the deadline, which isn't surprising.

Meanwhile the Cubs and Reds were active.  Reds are buyers this year and picked up Archie Bradley and Brian Goodwin.

Lots of deals today, so we'll see how they work out.  Padres, Marlins, Blue Jays and Mariners were all active.  Although the Marlins and Marines were more sellers than buyers, it appears.

Mets fans hate the trade. I get it. The Mets aren't going anywhere; so, they should be acquiring prospects, not veterans. Instead they give up prospects.  Only the Mets. I like Todd but I did not want to give up prospects for him.

8 teams make the playoffs this season from each league, Mets could still get the 8th seed. Once you get in anything can happen if healthy and playing well. As of now the Cubs still have the 2nd best record in the NL at 20-14 only behind the Dodgers. Winning the division would be nice again for the Cubs but still a ways to go. Cards won tonight so they are only 3 games back in the NL Central.

I had someone ask me at work earlier that if the Cubs win their division this year should there be an * put by it. I said, I supposed so but not really because all teams are dealing with what the Cubs are. Every team is dealing with the same thing. Cards players did get hit hard at first by the Covid-19 but now are playing a lot of games. Whoever wins the WS deserves it IMO, they still have to beat the opponent in front of them. If the Cubs do win at least win the NL Central division, it would be the 3rd time in 5 years = 2016, 2017, 2020. Of course the Cubs have the 2016 WS championship banner and 2016 NL championship banner with it

The Cards have me scared and most Cubs fans I know agree. They have a knack of just knowing how to win over the years - great WS championship history, this goes way back to the 80's with me lmao . Brewers are a flash in the pan with the core they have now, good team but no WS championships won. They have no WS Championships in franchise history as well. Reds and Pirates have a great history but the Pirates have stunk in recent history and something seems to be missing with the Reds in recent history.

I agree that this season is crazy, but even with a 60 game season and all teams playing under these conditions that the WS champion should not have any * next to their name.  They will have earned it, even more so with extra teams making the playoffs.

Hoping the Cardinals can hang tough and get a wild card, which is now a best 2 of 3 series.  Starting pitching will be key in those short series.

Meanwhile, my AL Rays continue to dominate the Yankees in NY, even with Cole on the mound.  If you haven't watched the Rays, please do so...they are fun to watch and play the game in the right way, IMO.

Cardinals beat the Reds last night 7-5. Was 7-2 until Woodford gave up a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th. Cards are hanging in there. Don't think they have enough to overtake the Cubs. The series this weekend is huge if the Cardinals want to win the division. It's in Wrigley again. Also Sunday Night Baseball this weekend.

My Oakland A's have been hit by the COVID. They are expected to resume play Thursday though. Getting swept in a doubleheader the other day by Houston really hurt. Getting LaStella is gonna be a huge addition I think. Not sure about the Minor acquisition. He's been kinda bad but is coming off a really good start against the Dodgers. We'll see.

Cubbies made me sweat tonight, but pulled it out in extras.

GO CUBS GO

FLY THE W

Yep, it was a big win because the Cards won again. Jeffrees may be the main man moving forward out of the bullpen. He got the win tonight. He looked good again.

Standings in the NL Central as of 9-2-20

Cubs 21-14

Cards 14-13 (3 back)

Brewers 16-19 (5 back)

Reds 15-21 (6.5 back)

Pirates 10-23 (10 back)

Fly the Flag Hozer, tough hard fought win over the Pirates in 11 innings 8-7.
