Stafford, like Rivers, thrived in their careers with big / tall WRs like VJax, Floyd, Mike Williams, Megatron, Golladay etc., and if I’m investing in a WR, I’d invest in the big catch radius guy. That’s why you see Rivers and Stafford throw it ahead and let the WR go and get it, except when it’s underneath. Both of them throw to RBs plenty but Rivers throws more to TEs than Stafford, based on history. Ebron dropped passes a lot as a first rounder, Hockenson was thriving this past year but only because of injuries to Golladay, that’s something Frank has to think long and hard about, Stafford not looking to TEs much. Being objective here.

If Ballard was to make the trade he would talk to Stafford to get a feel for how long he would play and I could see a new contract as well. But with you hypothetical I could say one as well. You trade up and grab Lance and he has a terrible injury game 1. Out for the year and never the same. You can speculate anything.

Hasnt been Ballards practice. If they mean good value to us then Ballard usually keeps the player in house. Only trades ive seen him make are for draft picks or trading guys who are young but havent performed up to snuff. Or in the case of Henry Anderson a bad scheme fit.

Plus they have a big QB contract they want to unload if they trade for Stafford. I doubt the Lions take on Jimmy G.

There has been reports of $176 million for cap but also in December there were reports of the NFL trying to keep the cap higher (estimated $195ish) because they are hopefully to have full stadiums in 2021 and tv deals are still good for revenue. Just to put it out there. Both could help us but honestly lower cap numbers can really play in our favor.
