Cubs still up 6-4 going to the Bottom of the 7th. Just need 6 more outs. Cards lost 5-4, so a win here puts us up 2.5 over the Cards. Brewers catching fire again though, won their 4th straight so they will be only 1.5 back if Cubs do indeed hang on here. These 3 teams = Cubs, Cards, and Brewers are so inconsistent! They sometimes win 4 or 5 in a row then lose 4 or 5 in a row. Tough to figure these teams out :dunno:

Yeah baby!!!! nonsense call on Zobrist and Maddens ejection, but they get the win anyway!!!!!!! GoCubsGo!!!!!!

What is up with the Umps and Zobrist, that ticked Maddon off! God glad we won this game, this is one game had we lost I would've really been mad about. Huge win too. Up 1.5 over Brewers and 2.5 over Cards now.

IDK, maybe there's a hit out on him with all umps after he called them out over blown calls, lol!  The Ump that he got into it with during the Diamondbacks series, Mark Wegner, actually admitted to Madden the next day that he got the call wrong and apologized. Man Madden was furious after this one, called it "asinine!"

They're saying he could get suspended for making contact with the umps! lol!!! Man I love that guy, he puts it all out there and isn't afraid to take one for the team!!!!!

Honestly I am more into Baseball right now than I am even Football, Playoffs are right around the corner and the Colts cant even field players that can stay healthy. If you cant stay healthy in your early 20's that isn't good RYAN KELLY. Oh well, Go Cubs. My World Champion Cubs have players that play injured like Bryant has, Rizzo has, etc.. I am leaning toward Baseball being my favorite sport which Football always has been, Basketball and Baseball I have always swayed between the 2. Been a Colts fan since 1984 but also been a Cubs fan since 1984 - sweet coincidence right! I have been a Pacers fan since the late 70's but the NBA Playoffs stink now days.

Donte, Philip, Hooker, dot dot dot- etc etc etc.... same lump of crap every freakin year.  Get your * on the field

And no, you are just frustrated and worn with injuries holding back our Colts like a lot of us are.  It sucks, but it will get better.  It will get better because Ballard will build our team with quality backups once he has his starters in place.  THEN when someone really good goes down it isn't such a drop-off in talent that we can still win.

It does get old though.  And the guys thinking they will sit out over bumps and bruises may find themselves moving on down the road.  I don't think there is going to be a lot of tolerance for missing time over typical to moderate injuries.... at least that is the feeling I am getting.

Maybe Lester partied last night because he sucked.

LOL

Has to be.  Pitching has been nothing short of lackluster all year.  It is hard to believe that the SAME guys were so damn good last year..... could say the same about hitting too.

I saw your post the other day about runners left on base and that is absolutely the difference (offensively) this year.  So add the LOB % and mediocre pitching and you get what we have been seeing lately.

Real head scratcher how it can turn around in one year and stay that way.  I get a "slump" but that isn't what this is.

Well I can say this, at least I am off work tonight, I put almost 70 hours in this week. Off until Sunday actually, going in that day for a few hours. Cubs are going to lose this one I can tell but they are still in 1st. The inconsistencies are really asinine to use a Maddon term!

What do you do for a living?  If you don't want to disclose that information it won't hurt my feelings (can always PM).... just curious.

I work for a pretty big company, deal with a lot of semi trucks/inventory of semi trucks, and help with Security issues as well, some IT stuff too dealing with computer issues. I cant give out INFO where I actually work but that is the details of it. I am still able to Post here a lot because I have downtime at work (at night more) that allows that. When I get busy though it's stressful. My hours are all over the place, I work days and nights.

Cards won 11 - 7 and  CBE I hear ya Brother nights 12 hour ones in the heat and humidity takes it out of this Ole Boy .

Where I am at Mornings/Afternoons are a killer regarding truck volume, then with the sun/heat it is bad. I like nights much better, it's cool out and I don't have to deal with management. I am basically a supervisor but not in upper management. I get along with everyone but don't always agree with what they are doing and it's stressful.

    • yeah this concept of not being the year to draft an edge rusher is strange. We shouldn’t be drafting for need at #15. We should be drafting for the best player that we can put on this roster, positional value factored in. I would dispute that this isn’t the year. I think it could very well be. What a better d-line to be on the depth chart on than one with uncertainty at the edge moving forward in contract years. Let a rookie stud go out occasionally and get experience/see what he’s about. We might find a true pass rusher at 15.    what I would argue is it’s not the year to draft one of our “needs” at receiver or corner considering how deep these classes are. Day 2 should be just fine there.
    • I don't understand this way of thinking.   When you draft a player in the first round, they sign a four year contract, with an option for a fifth year. If the player is as good as you hope, then the intention is likely to sign them to a second contract for another 4-5 years. So if you hope that this player is a foundational piece of your roster for the next decade, then why would you be so absorbed in the player's playing time in Year 1?   Specific to the Colts at DE, we do not have a game changing pass rusher right now. I like Kwity and Dayo, but so far, they aren't foundational pieces. They're both going into contract years, depending on whether the team picks up Kwity's option. And we have Ebukam, who is also good, but not a game changer. There's no reason any of these players can't be challenged for playing time, especially in pass rush situations. Dayo and Lewis play DE, but also rotate at 3T, so that can be worked out. And there are injuries, which will open up playing time.   DE historically has a learning curve, even for good players. Kayvon Thibodeaux was the 5th pick in 2022, he played 14 games as a rookie, 444 pass rush snaps, and had 4 sacks. He played 17 games in 2023, 498 pass rush snaps, 13 sacks.    Ultimately, passing on a high level edge rush prospect because you're not sure he can start in Year 1 seems incredibly shortsighted.
    • I'll take the Buccaneers as my second team. That is, if I don't win the COLTS lottery!   Where do you keep your Buccaneers? Under my buckin' hat!
