Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

As most of you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.  But you don't know that at one time I was a Cubs fan.  This was in the early 1980's while I was in college and got cable TV.  Our TV provider had WGN and sin

Even when we were down 7-0 I still thought we could win even without MVP lmao . We didn't but that is how good we are right now. I have been spoiled with this team since 2015. Reds won't be easy starting tomorrow but we should win. Reds are much better this season than last.

@NFLfan, Mets won again. They have now won 4 in a row and are 24-25 and still only 4 games out of 1st place in the NL East.

Thanks but it's nothing to brag about. That was preceded by a sweep by the Marlins. haha

How is our friend @Jay Kirk doing? He is missed around here.

Me too. I am worried about him because he normally chimes in at least once a week.

There are times that he gets busy for a while. I'm hopeful we will see him soon.

We really missed Bryant in the infield yesterday, as well as his bat. No more breaks for MVP!!!!

And yes, was wondering where Jay is, hope everything’s ok.

Congratulations! Time flies. It seems that you had just told us 2 years ago that you were a senior in high school. I can't believe 4 years have already passed. All the best in your professional (and personal) life.

So finally back after having layovers and delayed flights to misconnections. Rogers Centre is interesting. When you walk in you end up on the 3rd level and we sat in 130 for one game and 123 for the other game. The stadium did not have a real baseball stadium feeling though. Idk if cuz the roof was closed or what but it did not feel the same as a normal game. I did like the stadium though. It was nice that it was inside as weather was bad all week. I did like the fact the turf was so bouncy that they would just start to bounce the balls between innings. I also like there was no dirt flying to get into my eyes. The best thing was the unlimited souvenir cups for drinks and a bargain type  stand of general baseball food.

I will rank this one once I reach 20.

Tough loss. Reds have our number lately. We need a closer.

Epstein really needs to do something about this bullpen, and I don’t think Strop returning is the answer. Unreal.

Still lots of baseball left. The Nats are not doing anything this year. They have a good closer that the Cubs can trade for.

I hear you. Is there any pitcher you want. CBE wants Chapman back. I like Doolittle but he and Maddon had a little back and forth; so, Maddon may not want him here. He is the Nats closer. I like him a lot.

So far this season Chapman has 13 saves and has only 1 blown save, era of 1.83. We should've never let him walk or let Jake walk. We could've re-signed both but didn't. The Cubs are still a very good team but not great because of the bullpen. We have had chances to build on the NL Central lead and failed to do so, so far. Brewers, Pirates, and Cards all lost yesterday. Instead being up 1.5 over the Brewers we should be up 3.5 or 4.5 by now had it not been for the bullpen.

Although he would be expensive, Kimbrel is still out there. I just don’t see Theo spending that kind of money, and he’ll prob be gone after the draft next month to avoid the qualifying offer penalty. Might need to get crafty with some trades, although our top prospect Nico Hoerner is currently hurt so....:dunno:

I still don’t understand why they let Jesse Chavez walk after one season, he was a great closer, and wanted to remain with the team.

Yeah definitely don't see Doolittle coming after the comments he made about Madden. Don't really know much about him.

Thank you, Chavez is who I was thinking of after yesterday's loss. I could not remember his name. Should've never let him go either.

    • danlhart87 on Colts.com Forums:   "Is there a reason all the Colts castaways go to the Jets? They have around 8 former Colts.   Are the Colts planning on following the recipe they had Sunday on O where Rivers keeps it under 30 attempts?   Do you believe the Colts have a good OL or do you think Q makes them better than they are?   and finally   Do you think the emergence of MAC will effect how we move the ball especially when Doyle comes back?"   Walker: Woah, woah, woah. Firing from all angles here.   » I think the connection to the New York Jets is pretty clear: Rex Hogan, who was the Colts' Vice President of Player Personnel under Chris Ballard in 2017 and 2018, is now the Jets' Assistant General Manager under GM Joe Douglas. When you're Hogan and you already have so much intel and information on these players from your time in Indy, it really cuts down on the background work needed for players from outside organizations.   » I'm not sure I'd put a limit of passing attempts on Philip Rivers at 30 for this game, but that does seem about to be a sweet spot. The Jets have a ton of injuries in their secondary, though, so one would imagine Rivers won't be shy about testing out their depth. Another factor: the Jets' run defense is usually pretty tough under defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, even though they didn't quite show that last week when they allowed 184 rushing yards on 27 carries against the San Francisco 49ers. So I'd expect a few more pass attempts in this one compared to last week.   » The Colts' offensive line is outstanding as a group. Anthony Castonzo is a top-five to top-10 left tackle in the NFL, the aforementioned Quenton Nelson is the best guard in the league, Ryan Kelly is probably a top-five center, Mark Glowinski has been one of the better run-blocking right guards in the league the last couple seasons, and is off to a wonderful start so far this year, and Braden Smith is undoubtedly one of the top young tackles in the game. Nelson gets the pub, and rightfully so, but the rest of the group is very good.   » And I addressed the Mo Alie-Cox/Jack Doyle dynamic above. If Doyle plays, I don't think Mo Alie-Cox gets quite as many looks every game, but he proved he needs more targets in general with the way he played last week.
    • Trying to keep it short.   I'm looking at the situation as allocating blocks of capital in the ensuing years and making sure we have a blocks to invest where we need.  All of those examples you've given are true, but finding players like that involves availability, and the farther you move away from the first round the more you are at the mercy of how the draft falls and of things beyond your control.  In terms of planning, I simply think that if we think of Pittman as #2 (drafted at 41) and Campbell as #3 (drafted lower), then to get a #1 WR will take a higher draft pick.  But it could work out like you say.   We could also draft a LT later to play behind AC, then start after he develops.  And do the same with DE behind Houston.  I'm sure you can find many successful LTs and DEs and #1WRs throughout the NFL that fit that pattern.  But to say that we are going to plan to find guys later in the draft to develop into what would be a 1st round pick quality player is risky, and I think we need more sure things at those positions.    Having said that, I think LT is definitely 1st round capital allocation because he plays every down and tends to be on an island.  Success at the other two positions can be schemed a bit, or their success depends more upon how well other players play.
    • No he hasn't officially announced yet
    • I for one, enjoy their videos....   They seem like a sweet couple of kids and seeing their journey through the draft process and NFL life as a young couple has been interesting and a little bit of much needed fun.... especially these days.    I have ZERO problem with it.
    • Is it a done deal that Trevor Lawrence forgoes his senior year and enters the draft?
