Jay Kirk Baseball Thread since 2017: The 2020 season, Nationals Repeat?

Mets lose but I am encouraged by the Mets hitting. Those who know me here know that I have been down on Mets approach to hitting. This team has fight. They are a fun team to watch.

Mets have off tomorrow. Jacob deGrom is pitching on Tuesday.

Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

I just got an anonymous call on my phone which I usually don't answer when I don't see a number I recognize. I answered it and the person said SOX and hung up.  I have no clue who it was

As most of you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.  But you don't know that at one time I was a Cubs fan.  This was in the early 1980's while I was in college and got cable TV.  Our TV provider had WGN and sin

Your pitching is good so the Mets are fine.

Ugly game no doubt. Our pitching is simply awful right now. The Brewers look good early. dog show dogs GIF by Westminster Kennel Club

Yes the Brew crew has since come back to earth , with the Cards and Bucks right on their heels , wont get any easier for them either as they will be facing the Cards again next week and then I believe the Dodgers. The Cards are going for a four game sweep against the Dodgers today. Cards still are not firing on all cylinders , but they are getting there. Ozuna starting to hit , and Dejong is probably a budding superstar. Although Goldy has 6 dingers , his average is down. No worries he will be right around 300 before its all said and done. The Cubs will not continue this pace either , they will be around at the end. I also like NFL's Mets . Sorry not been on much , between work and my wife. Could really use everyones prayers for her [Tammy] . Will try to be on more , will be off two weeks starting end of next.

One reason why I only went to home games when I went to Colts games was because I felt safe. I went to around 50 games in my time from 1984-2013, last game I went too was the Texans game in 2013 and we stomped them. Anymore I just enjoy watching at home and not messing with crowds of people. I did go to 1 Colts road game, that at Chicago in 2004. I went with 3 other guys and 2 of them played O.Line for Ben Davis when I was in school lmao . Nobody was messing with us . Colts won big that day but the Bears fans around us were actually cool.

I really think the Bears and Cubs fans are pretty classy as a whole. Wouldn't worry much about going to a game as long as I stayed out of the wrong turn neighborhoods .

@2006Coltsbestever and I are a lot alike in our fandom for our favorite teams

He was relating the story to me

I am sure that @HOZER, @NFLfan, and @Jay Kirk aknows fans of other teams and had instances like this at work or in public.

My Family and our AAU Track team found one of those neighborhoods when We were in the Chicagoland Area for a State Meet

    • They are playing great.  We will find out more next year about Eason.  It appears that Ballard has definitely hit on the 2018 and 2020 drafts.   2019 draft seems solid and has provided two starters(Ya Sin/Willis) with a possible 3rd and 4th in Campbell and Okereke.  Overall great job.  This next draft will show Ballard and his scouting departments ability.  A shortened college season will make it tougher to evaluate player potential but I believe this is the front office for the job.
    • Defensive ly chiefs don't  seem as strong they are beatable
    • Pittman  didn't get  enough  targets on sunday
    • I think it might come down to who has the final better record, the Colts or Ravens.  Reason being is that Patrick Queen is his chief competition.  Since the positions don't directly compare, and the Raven's D by media default is more respected than ours historically, I would be concerned if they finish with a better record and/or playoff seeding, especially since we already lost to them at home.  But I hope you're right.  He's been fantastic and perhaps may get votes for All Pro.
    • You missed the purpose and argument of Dan's post, and that is that he thinks we should bring Rivers back.  The strawman part only occurs concerning that point.  Our actual record and Rivers part in it isn't up for argument.  It "is" rather than being an argument. It is simply a statistic, a fact and not open for debate.     The "strawman" argument is that we will need Rivers again NEXT YEAR.  The "strawman" portion concerns assuming our only alternative options would be the same as this years options were, in the future.  If Ballard decides there is a better option for next year, then you'd have to argue THAT specific (and completely unknown) option versus Rivers.  To do otherwise is a "strawman" argument.
