At least the Brewers lost 9-7 to the Reds. We are still 3 games ahead of them despite the struggles. Cards are up 3-1 on the Dodgers in the 4th right now, if the Cards win that would put them just 2.5 games back. You would think they will cool off soon. Most teams do after a hot stretch. Cards have won 11 of 13 and Cubs have lost 3 in a row. I believe it goes in cycles with these teams. I have seen the Cubs win 5 in a row and turn around and lose 4 in a row, same for the Cards.

I am very concerned about our team right now though and less concerned about what the Brewers or Cards do. The Offense has completely disappeared. Doesn't matter if we hold teams to 2 or 3 Runs if we can only muster up 1 Run. Like I said I am hoping Murphy can bring a spark to this team and Bryant can get back by next week. I am starting to wonder if Chili Davis isn't part of the problem, alot of Cubs fans seem to think so.

Don't know if the Cards cool much or not , Ozuna is starting to light it up as well. I like the way the team is being managed , and its been a total different mindset after Matheny's departure . Much more aggressive baseball .

Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

As most of you know, I'm a Cardinals fan.  But you don't know that at one time I was a Cubs fan.  This was in the early 1980's while I was in college and got cable TV.  Our TV provider had WGN and sin

It is Jackie Robinson Day today. It is the 70th Anniversary of when Jackie Robinson integrated baseball. A month or so later, Larry Doby integrated the AL, playing for the Cleveland Indians.

Cubs and Cards both look like both will be in the Playoffs assuming we can score some Runs soon :spit:

Just as we thought early in the season, the Cards do have a very tuff schedule ahead.

8-2 Cubs, Rizzo just Homered, back to back HR's by Baez and Rizzo!

Murph is 2 for 5. Did Dgambill say that Murph could not turn double plays? I see he was part of 1 double play on defense.

Cardinals win again! Very nicely done by them. The NL Central standings after tonight (August 22nd) reads as:

Cubs 72-53 *best record in the NL, own #1 Seed

Cards 71-57 (2.5 back) *own the 1st Wildcard spot

Brewers 71-58 (3 back) *own the 2nd Wildcard spot

-In the NL East, Braves own the #2 Seed as of now (71-55)

-In the NL West, D-Backs own the #3 Seed as of now (71-56)

-Of course in the AL, the Red Sox are running away with the league at 89-39! Can anyone beat them come Playoff time?

I need to learn to stop putting my foot in my mouth. Trust me I was as surprised as anyone. Doesn't change the fact he is a big downgrade defensively. I knew he had a good bat and expect him to continue to hit well. He has lost some of his punch but he is still a dangerous hitter. Again I like him as a player and a signing....it just meant to me that someone was hurt to go out and get him. Maybe this is what the team needed. If guys don't produce then Theo will go out and replace you in the lineup. That said Russell/Baez double play is probably one of the best in the league. Both have great range and great arms.

I should not have singled you out. I apologize. We all joke with each other on this thread and we all get along.

You wrote that you were surprised. Are you referring to the double play or the trade?

A large gathering of Mets fans just got on the subway, trying to beat the crowd. The Mets are losing 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth.

Yes they can be beat , but its gonna take a hot team with good pitching to back it up.

    • Before i begin i just want to say that i'm not taking any shots at anyone but only keeping things real. That being said i dont get it. I just dont understand why Jacoby a person were not going to be resigning next season is our back up QB and not Eason. I know people say hes our best back up QB but again hes on his way out the door i mean why not have Eason a QB who is suppose to be our future on this team be the backup and have Brissett be the third stringer? i ask this because if you look at the packers you see Love as the backup aka the future starter, Tua on the dolphins is the backup for Fitz again future starter, then there's Hurts on the eagles behind wentz another one. These guys i mention wont start right away but at least they'll be ready when called upon i mean Herbert on the chargers has put up fine numbers these last two games and he never saw any Pre season action. So my question is why cant we have Eason be the one taking the snaps when were up by big margins instead of someone who wont be on the team after this season?
    • Cowherd think's it'll be as soon as this Friday after their Thursday night game. They're reportedly reaching out to coaching agents.
    • Well that was disappointing.   Not that I wanted the Ravens to win but I was hoping for the game that was hyped so much.
    • Let them. Doesn’t mean you have to engage with them.   The alternative is that you run the risk of not fostering an inclusive environment for all opinions, even the bad ones.   To be clear I agree with your points about the negative nancy types. I’ve been here long enough to see that it’s pretty much the natural order of things.
