Mark Grace, Shawon Dunston,

I can never remember who played 3rd base when Grace, Sandberg, Dunston were in the infield. They had the twins in CF, the Dawson in right and can't remember the left fielder. Joe Girard was the catcher, I believe.

Besides Law, Ron Cey and Keith Moreland, Ryne Sandberg, Ken Reitz and Pat Tabler were Cubs 3rd Baseman of the 80s

I was talking late 80s, early 90s. Maddux, Mike Bielecki, Sutcliffe were there in addition to the others I mentioned earlier.

None of those names ring a bell.

Edit:

Pat Tabler sounds familiar but I think I am thinking of another guy on another team with a similar name (Kapler).

Ron Cey was before my time of following baseball, I think.

Ah. Paul Assenmacher... Mike Harkey... Lloyd McClendon (I remember him more with the Pirates.)

Anyone remember when McClendon was so angry that he removed home base and walked back to the dugout with it. It was hilarious. Just the way he moved while walking back was funny.

Edit: it was 1st base.

That would be impressive

Any memories of times in the ball park?

When I was growing up, baseball tickets were affordable. One year I went to about 20 games. I used to take my nephews and my niece. I also attended with some friends. A few times like on the 50th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson's integration of baseball, I went alone. (His wife Rachel Robinson and the President were there.)

In the year after the baseball strike, ball clubs were trying to win back the fans. Mets sold some tickets for $1 and gave out free food, IIRC. I loved that Mets team. They played NL ball.

Anyway, in one of the early games that I attended that year, a few fans ran on to the field, spreading dollar bills all over the infield (about $150). The game had to be stopped momentarily to remove the guys and the bills. The fans were interviewed afterwards and shared that that was a message to what they saw as greedy ball players.

Quote from LA Times about the story above:

"Three men wearing "Greed" T-shirts ran onto the field at Shea Stadium in the fourth inning, threw 150 dollar bills at players and then stood at second base to receive an ovation from a crowd that later saw the Mets come back from a five-run deficit to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-8.

.

It was a novel twist to the fans' backlash protesting the players' strike that delayed the season and cost last year's World Series."

If the Cubs can get out of here 2-2 that is a win for us playing at their place. Our BullPen tends to blow things though. I miss Chapman. If we had Chap, our % of winning this game would be at around 80% right now. It is probably 55/45 with what we have now.

We ended up taking 2 of three in Arizona , should've been a sweep , they blew the first game.

Well, so much for that. Washington up 3-2, Carl gives up a 2 run HR. The BullPen just irks me.

I feel your pain

What are you seeing that you don't like?

Poor base running at times mental lapses , Matheny staying with pitchers to long . Not warming up 2 relievers at a time in case one has a problem when trying to hold a lead and letting it get out of hand . Is that enough lol errors in the field. I'm no fan of his managing style.
