Yes. Or Shane Spencer.  Your spelling is correct.

Cubs up 6-4 after back to back home runs from Russell and Schwarber!

The MLB draft is this coming week. I was reading about a pitcher who is considered among the top 50 prospects. He is a top pitcher in the draft and plays with Oregon State. It was reported this week that he is registered as a sex offender for molesting a 6-year-old relative when the pitcher was 15.

Do you think he will be drafted? What are your thoughts?

Cubs up 6-4, a win here gets us back to .500 at 31-31 and Brewers are losing today so far 1-0. if Brewers lose we are only 1 game out of 1st place again, despite a very inconsistent season so far.

I know nobody is here right now but......Judge just hit one over the bleachers. First one over the bleachers. They say it was at least 500 feet.

btw, Castro hits another 2 run HR & has 4 hits today. It's 10-3 Yanks in the 6th. They have 4 players with at least 40 RBIs.

I seen it, that was a blast to the moon!

Just read the story from your link. Some team will probably draft him but I'm not sure they should. This will follow him where ever he goes. I don't want to pass judgement & not knowing the details it's impossible to do so. His admission of guilt takes away any doubt that it actually happened. Sad that both parties will have to live with this situation for the rest of their lives.

I too believe a team will draft him but not as early in the draft as he would have been if the news had not been reported. It sounds like he is a dominant pitcher; so, some team will take him.

The Mets won 2-1. They are getting players back from the DL and are playing better.  They play the Cubs the next 3 days and then face their division leaders, the Nats. It won't be easy.

Brewers lost, Cubs now 1 game back in the NL Central with their win today. Glad to see us finally show the Rockies who's boss. Rockies have been embarrassing teams all season.

Brewers 33-31

Cubs 31-31

-Cubs have the Mets coming up starting tomorrow. I want to see more consistency from the damn Pitching in that series.

Looks like the Cubs will take this guy off their draft boards.

Quote:

"One American League general manager told Yahoo Sports his team “won’t go anywhere near” Heimlich following the report. Two other teams echoed those sentiments to Yahoo Sports, and Chicago Cubs GM Jed Hoyer told radio station 670-AM in Chicago that Heimlich “will be off our board, I think.” While another GM conceded his team was unlikely to fully remove Heimlich from its pool of potential picks, he said, “I can’t see us taking him.”

Earlier I wondered if he gets drafted at all. His victim was 4 and 6 years old when it happened. SMH. I like to give people second chances but this is hard to explain to fans.

Do you think he will be drafted? I think he will. He could also go pitch for Japan or another baseball league.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cards win 2 of 3 - that would help the Cubs and not hurt them. Nothing dominant as Cards still lose 1 and that kind of would put the Brewers in their overachieving place. It is a 3 game series right?

2-2 would be fine with me then, if Cards won 3-1 though, I would be ok with it actually. Brewers need a few losses. They keep hanging around like little pests lmao

Finally, something SW1 can comment on. This classic routine never gets old. "1 base at a time...Left fielder's name. Why. Because I wanna know...What base do you wanna take about?" Straight comedians are the foundation of timeless routines like this.

Thanks Jay. "Naturally who gets it" indeed. Still hilarious after all these yrs.

You're a good man Jay & very funny. Mostly, I just drop in from time to time to see what's on your mind, enjoy the back & forth among friends, & learn something along the way. Carry on...

Cubs have 2 picks at the end of Round 1(27;30)

Yankees have Pick 16

Mets have Pick 20

Cards have No Pick because of the Fowler signing

    • It'll be really interesting to see how consistent our run game will be week to week after teams begin to focus on it more. The Raiders particularly did a really good job with their gameplan against us.
    • No one is disputing this, what we're concerned about is the nature of his play given the amount of experience in the NFL compared to a true raw rookie.    What exactly was the trouble you referred to in your previous post?
    • Playing time is how you gain experience. I do think that it should all come together quicker for him if he improves because he has sat and learned.   Also I realize we added speed. My point I guess is that those two guys are rookies and not 2nd and 3rd year players. If they were I would probably be more hard on JB. Especially if they had a proven season with Luck.  This offense has some of work to do so we can get those 250 yard games passing on a consistent bases. Like Reich said his perfect game is 400 yards. 250 yards passing and 150 yards rushing. I think it will be fun to see with having the bye week if we see some new things on offense. Something else I hope is that JB and Cain took some time in their week off to work together. Ballard also said Parris is learning to play outside and it didn’t help he missed all of TC.   i have never down graded hooker.
    • Hard to stack the box when you have to double T.Y. one of our TEs will be by themselves or send the back out
    • I'm talking about rating.  Now whether you think the ratings are legitimate is another question.  But in the rankings whether it be PFF, QBR, or PR, etc.  He is bottom half.  Maybe top of the bottom half, but bottom half.  In other words he is a replacable player by most of these analytics.   Now we can criticize these analytics and there is a lot of wiggle room and context, but some of his supporters, namely you Chloe are a little over the top.  I don't hate the guy, I just don't think he's very good. Now what I like to do on here is armchair analyze what I think I see and debate back and forth about it.  It's fun to me.  I really like this kind of diversion and think it requires some higher level thinking which is good for the brain.  I don't care if someone disagrees with me.  For instance, you downgrade Hooker, I think that kid is a freaking stud.
