2011 Roster Predictions

Now that all draft picks are signed, UDRFA's are signed and the recent veteran free agent signings I think it's about time to make some predictions and discuss the depth chart a bit. I will start with the defense:

At the Safety Positions I have making the roster:

Bethea - FS

Bullitt - SS

Afalava - 13 Game Starter as a Rookie with the Bears 2 years ago AND was productive

Lefeged - SS/KR/PR - I think he makes the squad based off of his ST's ability

with Newton, Caldwell, Vaughn, and King fighting it out for the PS

At the Corner Position I have making the roster:

Powers

Lacey

Tryon

Brown - Also returns kicks

Thomas

Rucker - Could also play FS

with Johnson likely cut or put back on the PS

At the Defensive End Position I have making the roster:

Freeney

Mathis

Hughes

Anderson - Also plays DT

with Bedford and Chick fighting it out for the PS.......though if Chick doesn't make the roster I would bet he went back to the CFL

At the Defensive Tackle Position I have making the roster:

Johnson

Moala

Mathews

Nevis

Harris

Foster - also plays DE

with Gill, Ogbu and Pressley fighting it out for the PS

At the Linebacker Position I have making the roster:

Brackett - MLB

Angerer - SLB

Sims - WLB

Connor

Wheeler

and Glenn, Tripplett, Neal, Colasanti and Moten fighting it out for the last LB spot and a PS slot

At the Special Teams positions I have making the roster:

Vinatieri

Snow

McAfee

with Baltz (Punter) getting cut outright after camp

At the Quarterback Position I have making the roster:

Manning

Painter - unfortunately I think they will play the "familiarity" card again and retain his services.......

Hartline - gets the roster exemption bonus so nobady can snag him off the PS and can carry the extra QB on gameday

with Orlovsky cut and Davis going to the PS

At the Runningback Position I have making the roster:

Addai

Brown

Carter

with a battle between James, Moore, Evans and Spann for the last spot and PS depending on who offers more in the ST's arena

At the Widereceiver Position I have making the roster:

Wayne

Garcon

Collie

Gonzalez

White

with a battle between Smith, Brooks, Gilreath, Horn, Heckendorf and Moore (and the above mentioned RB's) for a ST's spot and the PS

At the Tightend Position I have making the roster:

Clark

Tamme

Eldridge

and the winner of the Myers, McNeil and DeVree battle to see who wins a roster spot and/or PS (though I think the Colts will pick-up a waiver wire cut from another team towards the end of pre-season)

At the Offensive Tackle Position I have making the roster:

Castonzo

Linkenbach

Diem

with a battle between Iljana (currently listed as a Guard), Toudouze, Tepper, Bender, Williams and Reitz for the final spot and the PS

At the Offensive Guard Position I have making the roster:

Ijalana

McClendon

Pollack

DeVan

Kirkpatrick

with Thomas and Richard cut at the end of camp

At the Center Position I have making the roster:

Saturday

That puts the Colts at 52 with one RB and/or WR making the roster as a return man possibly to fill out the 53! Thoughts?

I feel Gilreath and Afalava will make the final cut....I agree with most everything else tho.

Gilreath is a good option, but, just like all the other rookie widereceivers and runningbacks there is a lot of competition among them, so we shall see! Afalva on the other hand I already had making the roster because he was productive before AND he plays a position of need currently!

Gilreath was the best return man in the big 10, so I have high expectations for him. he was also a hybrid WR type player. Even if he doesn't make the initial roster I feel there will be an injury and he will be the first to step in.
