Thanksgiving Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Happy Turkey Day here is a mock draft.

Charles Harris OLB

Could Missouri be Dline U? Sheldon Richardson, Aldon Smith, Kony Ealy and Shane Ray has all had success in the NFL. Charles Harris shouldn't be any different. He comes in with quick hands and a decent spin move.

6'3 235lbs

Pro Comparison: Dee Ford

Jordan Lewis CB

A smaller CB that excells in man coverage who doesn't mind tackling. He falls because of his lack of size but with the slot wr being more of a showcase in offenses this is a good pick up. Getting Lewis gives us a chance to resign and move Butler to the safety spot.

5'10 175lbs

Pro Comparison: Buster Skrine

Bucky Hodges TE/WR

I know the grumbling going on about mocking a offensive player in the 3rd round. But we live and die on Andrew Luck. Bucky is basically a reciever who has nice hands and deceptive speed who can become a nightmare match up against LBs and Safety. He gives us a huge red zone target and boost our TE core even if Doyle leaves for money.

6'6 245lbs

Pro Comparison: Kelvin Benjamin

Samaje Perine RB

Built like a small tank Perine isn't afraid to run through defenders. He has decent speed but doesn't posses break away speed. He provides willingness to help in pass protection and minimize the drop off from Frank Gore to Josh Ferguson.

5'10 230lbs

Pro Comparison: Alfred Morris

Ejuan Price OLB Pittsburgh

Leverage, speed and power is Price game. He has a non stop motor.

6ft 255lbs

Pro Comparison: Elvis Dumervile

Eddie Jackson safety

A converted cb that could be a hidden gem due to injury. He is aggressive when trying to create turn overs.

 6ft 195lbs

Pro Comparison: Roman Harper

Fabian Moreau CB

Decent CB who looks to tip the ball away and make the correct football play over trying to get interceptions.

6 ft 195lbs

Pro Comparison: Greg Toler

Here is my Thanksgiving Mock Draft with 1 trade down...

-Indy trades 16th overall pick and 4th(comp pick) to Detroit for their 1st, 2nd, 4th (Detroit moves up to select RB Dalvin Cook)

Round 1 Pick 21 (DET): Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
Round 2 Pick 16: Marquis Haynes, OLB, Ole Miss
Round 2 Pick 21 (DET): Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
Round 3 Pick 16: Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama
Round 4 Pick 16: Eddie Jackson, FS, Alabama
Round 4 Pick 21 (DET): Elijah Hood, RB, North Carolina
Round 5 Pick 16: Kevin King, CB, Washington
Round 6 Pick 16: Joe Mathis, DE/OLB, Washington

In free agency...

Indy signs RG Kevin Zeitler (Takes over for Denzelle Good who is too inconsistent at this early stage of his career. Good can be a quality backup at RG.)

Indy signs NT Johnathan Hankins (Indy needs a true presence at NT, and Hankins can provide that. Parry can still share time and be brought in to spell Hankins.)

Analysis - This secondary for Indy could be lethal after this draft. Adding Lewis and King at CB gives them very good depth with Davis, Peterson, and Melvin already in the fold. And adding Jackson at FS could allow Green or Geathers to fully man the SS spot while the other plays the freelance role near the line of scrimmage. Also, Indy's LBs dramatically improve by adding Foster as their top ILB, and OLBs Haynes, Anderson, and Mathis. Hood is a very good RB to be had in the 4th.

I like everything about that except we still go into the following season with no true upgrade for 2017 at pass rusher. Haynes and Anderson are both good players but I wouldn't feel comfortable relying on two rookies to be our pass rush in 2017. We need to make a splash during FA for a proven OLB IMO. We could still draft one of them during the draft as well.

We are a long way off from April 27. The combine will dictate a lot for the ILB in this draft. If guys like Cunningham and McMillan keep rising, it's entirely possible Foster could be sitting there late-teens, early-twenties.

As a FYI, here some current mock drafts for Foster as of 11/28:

SB Nation- 18th

Draft Site - 18th

Walter Football - 19th and 27th (2 mocks)

CBS - 12th and 13th (2 mocks)

DraftTek - 13th

Interesting to note that most of these mocks have Cunningham leapfrogging Foster now.

What a surprise!?    (Not!!)      Walter Football had the Colts mocked picking 27th.     Unless that Mock was done back around the Super Bowl,  then that's just Walter Football being Walter Football.

Goodness gracious.

To be clear, those picks are where those sites are predicting Foster will be picked. I think the Colts were picking somewhere between 10-15 on all of those sites.

Oh.....     OK.....     that's completely different.

Thanks for straightening that out!     Much appreciated!

we need to lose some more let say we get into the top 10 then use i would trade down a little bit to get another 1 draft pic for next year if we get the 7 to 10 draft i would move down two spot nothing more next year 1 round draft better be in that trade down too.

Trading down to get a future #1 is hugely expensive.

You'd likely have to trade down OUT OF the 2017 1st round to get a 2018 1st round.

That's not something I would want to do.
