Colts Vs. Eagles Preseason Game Night Thread

Hi, Colts fans! :)  Our Indianapolis Colts both won at Buffalo, but lost to Baltimore with identical 19-18 scores in their first preseason games,  Hopefully the Colts can score more points, and win by a bigger margin tonight as the host the visiting and 2-0 Philadelphia Eagles at Lucas Oil Stadium (the building).  Colts seek to win their first preseason win over the Eagles in seven years.

Traditionally, the veteran starting players  in both offense and defense perform, and are involved in the most playing time during game action in the third preseason game.  Later by the second half, in this game at the discretion and decision by both the Colts and Eagles coaching staffs, the starters would then be benched and replaced by the drafted and undrafted rookies, and free agents signed, to show their talents on the playing field during the remainder of tonight's game, especially those players on the bubble, to try to make, and survive, next Tuesday's mandatory cutdown from 90 to 75 players by Tuesday afternoon.

Tonight is the 21st all-time preseason meeting between Indianapolis and Philadelphia, each team winning 10 games. Colts and Eagles last met both teams  preseason opener last year, with Philadelphia winning 36-10 over Indianapolis, played at Lincoln Financial Field back on August 16, 2015.  However,  won their last preseason meeting over the Eagles, in Philadelphia's last visit to Indianapolis, winning 23-15, back on August 20, 2009.

Colts though lead the Eagles in the all-time regular season series 10 games to 9, with their rivalry that began in 1950. Eagles won the last regular season meeting, defeating our Colts 30-27, and played at LOS back on September 15, 2014.

Don Fischer and Rick Venturi are announcing the live TV commentary locally on WTTV CBS Channel 4 in Indianapolis, and the Colts Preseason Telelevison Network, live on HD.

Bob Lamey and Jim Sorgi are also broadcasting the live radio game play-by-play and analysis, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Matt Taylor, simulcast on Colts flagship stations WFNI ESPN Radio 1070AM, and WLHK Country 97.1, and the Colts Radio Network.

LOS's roof should be closed again to protect both the Colts and Eagles, and the fans attending tonight to protect the outside elements, because mostly cloudy skies at 88 degrees, feels like 95 degrees, is the game forecast for the 7:05PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with 15% precipitation, 58% humidity, and southern winds at 8 miles per hour.

NO injuries to both the Colts and Eagles, as we wish all the players the best of luck as they try to impress their coaching staffs after tonight's game to try to make the cut from 90 to 75 players, heading into the preseason finale at Cincinnati. Go for Win #2 tonight, and  LET'S GO COLTS!!!!!    :cheer: :coltslogo:  :1colts:  :colts:   :coltshelmet:    :cheer: :coltslogo:

What a crazy preseason it has been already with the cancelled HOF game, the impressive play of our rookies and all of the injuries we are dealing with.

Hopefully everybody gets away from this one healthy. I want to see more 3 wide sets from the offense and somebody, anybody to step up at cb on defense.

I'm going tonight, any suggestions on getting autographs before or after game

Prob too late, but I've had pretty good luck at the seats above the field entrance/exit. Not sure where you're sitting, but you just have to make your way down there and be aggressive with the autograph snakes(dealers). Enjoy the game!

    • I think it's the sophomore class that I am really following this year and see how well these young men continue to grow.    DI: Mason Graham, Michigan (Sophomore) highest-graded true freshman IDL in the country in 2022 with an 80.3 grade.  2023 PFF TOW 2 honors   SS: Jaden Hicks, Washington State (Sophomore) – 2023 PFF TOW 2 honors   RB Quinshon Judkins (Ole Miss) Sophomore 2022 PFF TOW 9 honors had 14 broken tackles against Texas A&M, 5 breakaway runs of 15+ yards in company with likes of Derick Henry, Alvin Kamara and Chuba Hubbard.  Judkins came to Ole Miss as just a three-star recruit but, like Will Johnson at No. 21, dominated in Year 1.  He ranked in the top 10 in college football in rushing yards (1,567), rushing touchdowns (16), yards after contact (929) and forced missed tackles (76). • Coleman transferred from Michigan State.  Agree he has showed strong hands making several tough catches in traffic and has impressive speed for his size.  Not sure we need another WR-Z like Alec Pierce who is signed until 2025.    Some other players have been interested in are:   RG Justin Osborne, SMU – best in zone, gap or man schemes – PFF early honorable mention before the season for the ACC.  Earned 2023 PFF TOW 1 honors.   LG Wesley Ndago, Air Force – PFF TOW 1 and 4 – 2023.   TE Benjamin Yurosek, Stanford - Displayed athletic ability making several tough catches.    SS Tyler Nubin, Minnesota - Got two top traits, football IQ and impressive ball production.  Versus Nebraska he had 2 picks earning PFF TOW 1 honors in 2023.   Edge Kaimon Rucker, North Carolina Tar Heels – 2022 PFF TOW 0 honors.  Rucker became first Tar Heel in 10-years to be named the Walker Camp Defensive Player of the Week.  Versus South Carolina he had 5.5 TFLs and 2 sacks.    LCB Josh Newton (TCU) - solid QB passer ratings, 56.4 in 2022 and 86.2 in 2021  LCB D.J. James (Auburn) - solid QB passer ratings, 61.3 in 2022 and 64.9 in 2021
    • stafford has a very quick release, dont know if we can pressure him
    • I agree that AR is our guy, that's obviously why we drafted him, lol.  Minshew performed as well, and better than many of the starters I've seen, so far in the first 2 games this season.  I think if AR can stay healthy, we are set at the QB position for a long time, but after today's game, I am comfortable with Minshew coming in.
