We Are Witnessing The Greatest Quarterbacks In Nfl History

Such a shame that Rivers can't get himself to be in that club. some of the most amazing passes I've ever seen have come from Rivers, but he seems to have regressed in 2011.

Roethlisberger ....I don't feel comfortable putting him up there with the rest of that bunch.

I agree

Ben is a tough SOB....a leader and a great deep tosser........but not really at the level of Manning, Brees and Brady.

I'm splitting hairs at the top of the list

wow..what about Elway, Montana, Young, Aikman...Farve, Simms?

I believe he was only highlighting QB's from this side of the 21st century, as in, the last decade.

EDIT: nevermind.....I see what you did there.

All at the sametime. Every decade had like one or two really great quarterbacks. As of this day:

Tom Brady

Aaron Rodgers

Drew Brees

Eli Manning

Ben Roethlisberger

And Peyton if hes healthy

that is a nice list there, but I think that we are getting carried away with recent memory influening our decision . . . for me the only two QBs that will stand the test of time is TB and PM . . .Rogers has had a great 4 years and he may very well continue, but if he does not, then he'll will not be remember as well . . . Brees has put together some good seasons so he could get into the all time lists . . . Eli has been doing great this year and winning a SB will help . .. but he does have a few years with some bumps in the road . . . Big Ben is solid and a winner, but is a 0.500 QB when his team is not a top 3 Defense, in the two years his D was not a top 3 D, he is a 500 QB . ..

i think also too, a lot of love to these this QBs are the stats, yards and QB, etc . .. but that has a LOT to do with the new rules . . .image how these QBs would do if their WRs were bump more and were taken off their routes or if they had to deal with nagging injuries due to get hit a few games ago . .

playing in domes (brees playing in domes 11 times this year) . . . for the most part being 100% healthy, without a great fear of getting smacked in the pocket after a throw, and WRs that for the most part are allowed to run free, all help to give the present day QB great numbers that the abover referenced qbs have accomplished . .

just look at yesterday AFCCG, and TB first pick, the welker jukes the defender and makes a move on him, the out of position defender reaches out his arm and disrupts welker, who as a result could not get his hands up in time and the balls goes through his hand and we have a int . .. there was a correctly called illegal contact (and that contact was the result in welker losing focus temporarily and thus could not catch the ball, so the contact caused the int) which turned around a pick . . .maybe 20 years ago that is not call althou i think that it would of been, but eitehr way there is a call that might not have been called 20 years ago and has an impact on the game, which older qbs had to deal with but not todays qbs

Rodgers and Rothlesberger are not in the same catagory as the Mannings and Brady.

Rodgers hasnt played long enough and Rothlesberger just isnt elite.

Quite frankly give any good qb the targets Brees had this season and they would do just as well. Jmo.

1. Tom Brady

2. Aaron Rodgers

3. Drew Brees

4. Eli Manning

5. Ben Roethlisberger

6. Peyton Manning

1. No Explanation

2. Hasn't played long enough

3. Can't play outside of a dome

4. Eli is elite, but when you talk about the best ever.......

5. What?

6. See #1

Could we really just be seeing some bad pass defenses and horrible officiating (including some pretty questionable rules interpretations from the commissioner)?

Very true....Blue...

You guys know what you could do to the recuver 30 or even 20 years ago...

....some of thees rules date back to that Indy-NE game in NE where the pats mugged Marvin Harrison and the other Colts receivers..

If you cant throw for 4,000 yards every year.... you are just average now..

I disagree with you. I think the change in rules to allow receivers to get less contact, plus free agency and more bend but don't break defensives have lead to inflated stats by QBs. After all, rookies like Cam Newton are putting up huge numbers. I don't think QBing has gotten so much better, but rather defenses have gotten worse.
