Zimmer From Runner

I just got a big tip that zimmer is favorite to land job. Tressel is a close second. Also, we interviewed Marc trestman yesterday. I repeat mike zimmer is favorite to land job.

Forgive me but I think I will wait until something is official. There was a big bunch of bad information from more reliable sources than a message board rumor.

I heard it from Dan graham @coltsinsider pretty good source. Been right a lot.

I hope its true. I would love to have Zim as our coach. IMO Tressel don't seem like a Grigson kind of guy. By all appearances Grigson seems like an intense individual much like Zimmer. Tressel on the other hand don't seem very intense at all. I still think Tressel would do ok but I just like Zimmer a lot more.

I hope its true! I don't want another Jim as head coach! We shall see this week. But please anyone but another Jim as HC! But I like Zimmer! Fingers crossed

People make too big of a deal about the coach's emotional output on the sidelines....it is perfectly possible to be a great coach and not be "intense" or "firery"...the problem i had with Caldwell was his coaching ability, not his attitude.

For the record, my use of the word "intense" was based purely on the fact that Grigson seems very intense and Zimmers personality is a closer match than Tressels. I don't put much stock in a coaches sideline demeanor, but Zimmer just seems like a Grigson kind of guy. Thats purely my opinion and may not be right but just the way I feel.

Hope this is true. We need a fiery leader for this team and Zimmer is just that. Plus it has been long overdue to fix and make this defense respectable. I can see many postseason appearances with Andrew Luck as our QB and Zimmer running a top 10 defense.

mike zimmer and Andrew luck is a great duo.

Hope this is true, because I believe besides the Colts, Tampa is the only other team in the running for Zimmer.

maybe if zimmer comes he bring Robert Mathis back. I believe Tampa is only other team chasing him. We better hurry up though, because I don't want bengals locking zimmer up with a contract extension.

i wasnt really talking about what you said, so much as everyone that says they dont want Tressel based on HIS demeanor etc.

I wonder if Tressel was actually being interviewed for a coordinator position. I could actually live with him working under ZImmer.

Like someone else stated a couple days ago. (I think it might have been chad72) said Zimmer as HC, Clyde as OC, and Tressel as OC assistant.

I'd be totally fine with that.

I'd be totally fine with that. Tressel is more of a defensive coach. I could see staff like this, zimmer as hc, tressel as dc, and Ken zampese as oc. Zampese was qb coach with Cincy. Developed dalton pretty well.

That is not how it works. If the Colts want Zimmer and he wants them, nothing the Bengals do with a contract extension offer will matter.

    • Was that the only good receiver taken in that draft? And did they give up multiple picks?
    • Yeah, I have no beef with MHJ as a prospect (I think some are pumping him up a little too much, and there's some name recognition probably influencing the way he's talked about). It would be awesome to have him on the Colts. But just like every other draft prospect in history, the possibility exists that he will not live up to the pre-draft expectations.    But during the pre-draft process, fans and media start falling in love with players. Terms like "generational talent," "future superstar," etc., start getting thrown around. And now we're talking about a prospect as if he's a lock for the HOF before he's even played a game in the NFL. That's fine, it's fun, we all do it. But that's different from actually scouting, setting a board, and making decisions for the team.   Each of us can point to a previous prospect that we loved and raved about and had them fitted for a gold jacket, but who bounced out of the league within 3-4 years. And the same is probably true for NFL scouts and decision makers. Which is why Ballard's comment today -- there is no such thing as a perfect prospect -- is so important to remember. I'm not against the team identifying a guy they really want and going up to get him, but I hope they're not just doing it with stars in their eyes.
    • Would Cincy have made the SB without taking Chase at #5. I got the answer, and it is easy, it is a FAT NO. They would have never got by KC as great as Burrow is. Giving up next years 1st round pick isn't the end of the world to land a generational WR. We still have picks in rounds 2-7 if we did that.
    • Definitely was, but essentially all of them received the same punishment initially.     Just thought it was curious, especially right before the draft. Has to put the CB spot for the Eagles in limbo.     Been wondering if Jontay Porter's NBA lifetime ban had any play in the decision.   Rodgers did bet on his own team.
    • sure hope he does we need a game changing pass catcher
