Spags Will Sign With Saints

Lacanfora reports that spags will be signing with the Saints. We need to get moving on our HC search as many posts have already mentioned I would really like to have Zimmer. Seems like the players love him and he was able to be successful in Cincy of all places.

I expected this to happen. Anyhow, we haven't hired a head coach yet, so it was unlikely we would hire Spags.

There is still a couple good defensive coordinators out there such as Jack Del Rio and Jim Leavitt

i know what killed it. having Caldwell sit in the interview, and then pulling the plug the day later. Spags probably laughed off Irsay right there. He was tight with Payton to begin with, but that move told him everything he needed to know.

Wanted Spags as our DC, but I still think the answer is to bring in Perry Fewell as the head coach.

Ah man, that's not what I wanted to hear. Their offense is solid and Spags knows how to run a good 4-3, so that will improve their defense too

If we hire Zimmer, it won't be as big of a blow to lose Spags since Zimmer is a defensive-minded guy anyway.

Good hire for them. Im glad the Colts tried for Spags but its obvious if he wasnt going to get another HC job that he wanted to be DC on a contending team.

Well we have interviewed two people already and have a third one set up and the job has been open for what a little over 48 hours? If that's not moving I don't know what is.

Spags taking this job makes me believe what I thought at first when Caldwell was fired. That the Colts were okay with Caldwell coming bak if they could get the right DC and when Spags didn't take the job that sealed his fate.
