Official Colts Forum 2016 Mock Draft - Selection Thread (Make your picks here)

With the 54th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Tyler Boyd, WR from the University of Pittsburgh.

Good route-running was sorely lacking on the Vikings following the departure of Greg Jennings. Boyd is a good route runner and has good hands to catch all passes. Per Gil Brandt:

"Boyd (6-1 1/2, 197, 4.5 40) ran better at Pittsburgh's pro day than at the NFL Scouting Combine. He is a very good route-runner, and made 254 catches in three seasons. Boyd also brings an ability to return kickoffs and punts. He has outstanding hands."

@danlhart87 Cincinnati is on the clock.

Sorry for the delay, time difference was a killer here ;) - with the 55th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select DT Kenny Clark from UCLA.

Really liked Calhoun as well at this spot, would love the Colts to draft him in the second, if he's available, but he isn't strong enough to play up front replacing Malik Jackson. So I went with Clark - surprised he was still available here - kind of shows the depth of the position in the draft!

@aaron11 Seahawks are on the clock!

The Colts could have drafted him, but Grigson fell asleep at the wheel and some poor scout intern grabbed the wrong card handed it in. Thought he was drafting Calhoun, but instead drafted Kenneth Dixon.

im more open than most here to drafting a back early, but dixon would be a horrible pick for the colts in the second

he seems like the kind of guy you can get late, not a levon bell type

Should we stop this draft after 2 rounds if we want to extend the mock 2.0 version to the full 7 rounds? Just curious what people think.

I don't think there's any reason to stop after 2 rounds - I think it was put to a vote before anyway.  I just don't remember if it was 3 or 4 rounds.

Yeah, I'm not really opposed to drafting an RB if the right guy is there, I'm just not convinced there will be one worth taking at 48.

no reason to kill this draft for that one.  its not moving much faster and has different people playing

We still need more help in our backfield. The only other way I can see of going in this round is WR, since

Martavis is gone this season, and we don't know if he can stop the weed. With all that in mind,

With the 58th pick in the 2016 Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select S Darian Thompson from Boise St.

With the 60th pick the Dallas Cowboys select Austin Johnson, Penn State

With the 61st pick the Dallas Cowboys select Shilique Calhoun, Michigan State

After addressing the offensive end in the first, the Cowboys traded down in the second to get two picks at the back end of the second round in order to address two of the bigger needs for the team. Johnson is one of the best run-stopping interior linemen this year(ranks no. 3 against the run by PFF) and has some good pass-rushing potential.

Getting Shilique Calhoun at the end of the second is a coup for the Cowboys as they hope he will boost their pass-rush next year.

@Footballlax31and Carolina Panthers are on the clock.

I already pick my QB of the future. Now it's time to find some weapons to him.

With 70th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the LA Rams select Leonte Carroo, Rutgers.

Nice pick.

The Bears know that keeping Jay Cutler clean is the best thing they can do. Jeremy Langford also showed great promise last year when he had room to run. Upgrading the offensive line is huge priority in this draft.

with the 72nd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Shon Coleman, Offensive Tackle out of Auburn.

Looks like Detroit is on the clock. @bap03Colts

With the top two needs at CB and Safety, and no eye catching corners left seeing as we already brought in a couple through FA, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Jalen Mills, FS, LSU!!

@Exodus and the Oakland Raiders are now on the clock!!

Cool deal. There's no denying we need help in the secondary, especially with Charles Woodson retiring.

With that in mind, the Oakland Raiders are proud to select Miles Killebrew, S, Southern Utah. A thumper in the secondary for years to come.

@The Brazilian Ninja and the Rams? are on the clock

QB, check. WR, check. TE, no. We're trying to give Wentz some weapons to work with. Now that Jared Cook is out we don't have a good TE.

So with the 76th overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft, the LA Rams select Austin Hooper, Stanford.

    • He did, however the versatility of the Colts defense  was far less than I would like to see in 2019. Actually, for me, one the most intriquing queston right now is how much different the Colts defense will be in 2019? I want Eberflush to spice it up, using less soft zone and more press, man, etc. The fact that they drafted Ya-Sin and Okereke is a good sign. This indicates that 2018 was just a milestone in Eberflus's plans, but not the final destination.
    • If he “raises the play” of the Oline, and they can stay healthy, this is gonna be a fun year.   The 1-5 start had backups at the tackle position and I don’t think it’s a coincidence we started winning games, once Castonzo and Smith started.     In the article, he mentions Howard Jones as the best he’s coached. I was getting an autograph from Freeney once and asked him who’s the best he’s faced. I then asked “what about the pair from the Bengals” and he conceded they were “athletic”.     https://www.colts.com/news/howard-mudd-talks-blocking-technique-quenton-nelson-on-move-the-sticks-podcast
    • Peyton 3-1 vs he and Brady in AFC Title games
    • As long as you win 1 championship to go along with a great career nobody can question your resume. Just 1. It may not be right but people bash Dan Marino all the time for not winning 1. Before Peyton won 1, almost everyone said - yeah he is great but no championships. Before Michael Jordan won his 1st, everyone had Magic Johnson as the far superior player and I know this because I followed the NBA back then everyday. People thought Bird was better too. It took a 3-peat by Jordan before most people in the media crowned Jordan better than Magic.   In Football winning 2 SB's or more as a starter puts a QB in an elite group, so it was cool seeing Peyton at least get that regarding winning. Only 11 QB's have done that in 53 years. I was happy for him winning that 2nd one and then retiring on top.
    • I think you started a bad thread with poorly chosen words and followed it up with more nonsense. I’d bail if I were you.
