Dr. T's Annual Colts Draft Contest: 2016!

Recommended Posts

Welcome once again to Dr. T’s annual official Colts Draft Contest for 2016! With only six choices this year, the rules again needed to be changed. Therefore, contestants will be asked to select an A, B, and C choice for rounds 1 and 2, and A and B choices for all rounds thereafter. In rounds one and two, correctly choosing choice A merits 5 points, while correctly choosing choice B or C instead will merit 4 and 3 points respectively. In the other rounds, correctly picking an A choice in the correct round wins 4 points, while correctly picking a B choice in the correct round merits 3 points. If one of your "A" selections is chosen but in a different round than you predicted, you get 2 points, if one of your "B" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 1 point, and if one of your "C" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 0.5 points. In addition, you will also get to choose three free agent predictions and will get 0.5 points for any of these that the Colts actually draft. If AND ONLY IF there is no clear winner at the end of the 7 rounds of the draft, the contest will be extended for ALL participants in which everyone will also get one point for each collegiate free agent you predicted will be signed by the Colts after the draft, as well as 0.5 points for any other selection you made in the draft that was instead chosen by the Colts as a free agent.

Make your choices here by listing the round, choice A, B (or C only in rounds 1 and 2 only), for each round, and 3 free agent choices with the name of the player, position and school. You may also write with each choice a little blurb explaining why you chose that person.

Your Colts 17 selections this year are as follows:

Round 1 - #18 A, B, C

Round 2 - #48 A, B, C

Round 3 - #82 A, B

Round 4 - #116 A, B

Round 5 - #155 A, B

Round 7 - #239 A, B

Free Agents: 3 choices

Please be a good sport and do not just copy other contestant's selections. You can easily do some research on your own, since plenty of free draft services are available on the web. You can make changes to your selections, but this can only be done before the contest is closed on Thursday at noon CST April 28, 2016, on the first day of the draft. Good luck and let the best GM win!

Heck of a shot in the dark...

1)         a. Darron Lee, OLB, Ohio State- not sure where his best position is, but living in Ohio watched every game last year and it seemed like his name was called almost every defensive play.

b. Leonard Floyd, OLB/Edge, Georgia- Rather have Spence, but Floyd would not be disappointing at all especially with a year behind Mathis (and the fact that he is from Georgia, Go Dawgs!). Only worry is that he is tall and thin, not a lot of power, but that could be changed with some time in the weight room

c. Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama- seems a little early for a C, but he is the best at the position available

2)         a.  Nick Martin, C/OG, Notre Dame- day one starter at C, probably stay there until Luck retires

b. Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State- if he fell to us, almost couldn’t pass him up as a future starter at S. Like him on the backend, especially paired with Geathers in run support

c. Jordan Jenkins, OLB, Georgia- with really no backup to Erick Walden, find his future replacement in Jenkins.

3)         a. DeAndre Houston-Carson, S, William & Mary- would like to see a developmental S early, Adams can’t play forever and we need some S depth for sure. Like that he can play some CB as well, good to have versatility in our secondary guys

b.  Kyler Frackrell, OLB, Utah State- if he falls here, would be great value, can probably play on either end at OLB

4)         a. Willie Beavers, OL, Western Michigan- big man for G or swing T

            b. Connor McGovern, OL, Missouri

 5)        a.  Stephen Weatherly, OLB, Vanderbilt- backup for Walden

            b. Tajae Sharpe, WR, Massachusetts

7)         a. Wendell Smallwood, RB, West Virginia

b.  De’Vondre Campbell, OLB, Minnesota

I personally thought that #18 was too high for a center but MANY of you knew otherwise.

Ryan Kelly was a choice of 24 participants: 18 in the first round and 6 in the second round.

Out of that, a record breaking EIGHT participants NAILED the pick at 1A and they should be recognized:

Jacob Clem

Blue Shoe

SevaColt

Traines

outofstatefan

theanarachist

Archer and

Horse Shoe Heaven

After running this contest for over a decade, I have never seen anything like this!

Congrats to all and let the battle continue!
