Chargers release Donald Brown

  Last game of the season..vs Denver.....something like 75 yards on 21 carries..

 

He can still play.....Dosent cost much.  Colts?  Worth a phone call?

I loved Donald Brown's game.  I kind of wish the Colts would have kept him and got rid of Richardson in 2014.  I wouldn't mind bringing him back but I also think youth is needed at that position.

   He's 29...and he's a backup....now..for sure

But he's reliable.......doesn't fumble....knows his role.......knows Indy...can play social teams

 

We always seem to have a lot of injuries at running back.....On a playoff team..he's good bench strength

Yea I totally agree, he could be good depth.  I obviously think Gore will stay and I think the Colts will draft a running back, bring in one via free agency and/or sign an undrafted running back.

i dont think so, Boom Herron is the same type player but younger and better potential, if were going for a 3rd string RB like that just keep Boom

I was sad to see him let go.  He's not flashy, but he has been absolutely crucial in coming off the bench when injuries struck the last two years.  Good hands to catch the ball.  Good at pass pro on 3rd down.  I think he will do well for another team.  I wish him well.

As of today, as far as I can tell,  the back-up to Gore is Boom.

 

Or do you have someone else in mind?

Lamar Miller, Chris Ivory, Ahmad Bradshaw.

I thought he played Good for us in 2013, he was Good in the Playoffs that season too. Having said that, that was 2 seasons ago.

Brown is a better bet....(hes not better than Bradshaw..but Bradshaw is always hurt) and more experienced than Herron...You can have 3 backs..in fact...you need to.....

 

Keep Herron and Brown...Gore is over 30 and will need rest.

We're a playoff team (hopefully) not building for the future

Brown gets a harsh deal round here for not living up to being a 1st round pick, but doesn't necessarily make him a horrible player. I'd see him back as a change of pace back for the right price.  

 

As for Lamar Miller.. someone is going to overpay him.

Brown was with us....and has always been underrated...and Lamar Miller would cost a lot more.

Miami's probably resigning Miller...for more than we pay Frank Gore

I think boom holds his own. If he sees somewhere to go he hits it pretty hard. I like him.
