You're the GM: The Colts Are On The Clock

I keep thinking that it is very possible for 3 quarterbacks to be taken before we pick. How lucky would we be if that did indeed happen?

1    Tennessee    Laremy Tunsil    OL    Mississippi
2    Cleveland    Jared Goff    QB    California
3    San Diego    Joey Bosa    DL    Ohio St.
4    Dallas    Carson Wentz    QB    North Dakota St.
5    Jacksonville    Jalen Ramsey    S    Florida St.
6    Baltimore    Ronnie Stanley    OL    Notre Dame
7    San Francisco    Ezekiel Elliott    RB    Ohio St.
8    Miami    Vernon Hargreaves    DB    Florida
9    Tampa Bay    Myles Jack    LB    UCLA
10    New York Giants    DeForest Buckner    DL    Oregon
11    Chicago    Shaq Lawson    DL    Clemson
12    New Orleans    A'Shawn Robinson    DL    Alabama
13    Philadelphia    Paxton Lynch    QB    Memphis
14    Oakland    Reggie Ragland    LB    Alabama
15    Los Angeles    Laquon Treadwell    WR    Mississippi
16    Detroit    Jack Conklin    OL    Michigan St.
17    Atlanta    Leonard Floyd    LB    Georgia

You are sitting in Grigson's seat and it is time to make a call. Who are we taking?

Notable players on the board:

Jarran Reed    DL    Alabama
Mackensie Alexander    DB    Clemson
Sheldon Rankins    DL    Louisville
Andrew Billings    DL    Baylor
Robert Nkemdiche    DL    Mississippi (Not likely)
Kevin Dodd    DL    Clemson
Darron Lee    LB    Ohio St.
Corey Coleman    WR    Baylor

Noah Spence.

Even with all of the character concerns?

"Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky: When you are declared permanently ineligible from an entire college football conference, as Spence was from the Big Ten, that would definitely be considered a red-flag incident. Spence failed multiple drug tests while at Ohio State and was banned from the Big Ten in November of 2014. Spence has admitted an addiction to the drug Ecstasy and spent time at a treatment center battling his addiction with the full support of his former coach, Urban Meyer. Spence, who transferred to Eastern Kentucky, was also arrested in May of this year for alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct. Spence has passed multiple drug tests since his treatment, but teams still will come calling with question after question for him."

I believe Grigson has learned his lesson by taking risky players. I don't see us taking any of the following:

Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers
Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss
Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor
Gionni Paul, LB, Utah
Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky
D'haquille Williams, WR, Auburn

Rashard Robinson, DB, LSU

Yep, even with the character concerns.

Not happening. Grigson will not gamble this #18 pick. He may trade down but no way will he take a chance on a miss on this pick. Even if he considered it this might be the time Irsay does step in.

Taylor Decker
I'm going to move Denzil Good inside to guard.
This draft is so deep at the D line and secondary. I can get either position in the 2nd round and be very happy. A guy like Eli Apple Kenny Clark for example with the 2nd round pick.
My thought behind this is if were going to give Andrew 6 years $120,000,000 we might as well protecting.

Is Jaylon Smith's pre-draft medical report good in this scenario?

If so then him, otherwise, Mackensie Alexander

That would be interesting. It doesn't sound like it will happen that way though.

No such thing as a risk-free choice.

That is true but picking a player who has already shown a problem sends that risk way up. Grigson has already said he would not be taking any risky character within the first three rounds.

I think Leonard Floyd may be there if so take him or Ogbah. If not I like Taylor Decker. I am no expert in this but been studying lately :-) I always have had gut feeling and a feel for football things.

I like Ogbah a little better than Floyd for pass rush. The dude is fast.

Also I don't understand how everyone is draft and Ryan Kelly in the 1st round. Are there not better players at more desirable positions. Even if you go based on the teams needs versus BPA?

Cant argue that either, he looks great. You follow it more than me. I do love Ogbah though. What is your opinion on Ogbah? and Decker for O.Line, both look Great to me.

I like Ogbah but 2 things jump out at me as reason for pause:

1. Runs hot and cold in the tape I watched. Not sure if it's a motor or talent issue.

2. Blew up the combine but looks limited scheme wise as he wins with power and doesn't have any bend.

I'm not convinced he can play OLB. In that regard, I like Calhoun better.

He's been clean for over a year, and passed every drug test he's taken in that time. Depending on how his interviews went, I don't see him as a character risk.
