Was Eli looking for a flag or is it the usual "aw shucks" Eli?

I have my own idea of  what was going on with Eli, and I could be way off base...

But when I saw that clip, I said to my husband,  Eli looks a little sad and my thought of what was going through his head was the realization that he was watching his brother walk off the field for the very last time and it was hard to take :dunno:

I guess the reason I thought that is because I kind of had the same look on my face, when my family thought I should be jumping for joy that the Broncos just won,  I was just like   well... This is probably it.

That moment you realize your back to playing in the shadow of your big brother.

Honestly he likely saw something like that flag on the last play and waiting to hear the call on the field. The Mannings typically are so focused on playing to the last second they have a hard time enjoying the moment. Glad Peyton got to enjoy one last shining moment. He even completed that last 2pt conversion. Nothing left to play for but happiness....and watching him with his kids...hard to believe his happiness doesn't involve spending every moment with them.

Just as I suspected Tmz caught him after the game and asked him about the memes and he said they were funny and that he was just focused on if they should go for Two and that they still had to stop the Panthers and how much time was left....like I said focused on the game and doing calculations. Eli does seem to have a pretty boring personality....all the Manning faces lol without the funny commercials and outgoing personality....saw it in the Manning family videos...and not much different now lol.

No one is buying that "aw shucks" act when the first person you kiss after winning the Super Bowl is friggin' Papa Johns and then endorse Budweiser right after.

COME ON, MAN

New evolution of product placement lmao

How does this have any relevance to this topic?

You know what Gramz? You're probably right on the money there. Eli & Peyton have watched each other play football for so long that it's bitter sweet now. Well said Gramz. Well said.

I know this commercial is an old one back when Peyton played in INDY, but I can so picture Eli doing this once the sheriff got home. Can't you? The competitive spirit among siblings never, ever dies...I just love how Easy E says "I don't know."

That never gets old. Like son of a gun, there goes my ace in the hole what I used to rub in Peyton's nose all the time & can't do anymore. Just joking!

I think there is a grain of possibility to this, from all anecdotal pieces on the Mannings growing up Eli is portrayed as hero worshipping Peyton and Cooper and this by all accounts has carried through today.

It's impossibly to put any normal yard stick on their relationship really, I'm no expert on NFL history but I can't imagine there's many QBs who have won a SB, have a brother who is also a SB winner, both went #1 in the draft oh and you're also the son of Archie Manning?

Why do you think the Panthers played up this "underdog" label all year, it's much easier to perform as an underdog rather than being someone who's expectations as a millstone round your neck. There's a lot of parallels with Luck obviously and it will be interesting to see if he can handle the hatred you get for happening to be a highly touted prospect who's the son of a former NFL QB.

Honestly you look at some of the shots fired at Manning and you question people. you really do. Sure he's going to rub people up the wrong way, but if you're a true fan of football you should be able to stand back from that, appreciate his career and at least be respectful of his achievements on the turf now it's come to end.

What's the saying? Haters gonna hate.

That's true, and Cooper  too for the most part...   at the end Cooper exhales a Big sigh of relief

We all did....well after that 2pt conversion. I had such bad heart burn I could barely eat during the game....then that moment...I tore into some nice spicey chicken wings and smiled from ear to ear. I mean if anyone understands this its Colts fans...we've seen onside kicks go wrong in the SB.

    • Seems like this team gets a lot of untimely injuries that come out of nowhere. Smith and Kelly, Lewis injuries just appeared out of nowhere. None of those injuries were even mentioned after the Bears game.
    • Yep. He must of woke up Thursday with it. I assume Pinter will play center if he can’t go. That tackle slot is worrisome if smith can’t go. The defense is looking ridiculously banged up.
    • QB is hard.  It's easy to sit back and expect guys to look like Marino but every QB has a different ceiling and a different path to that ceiling.  And again getting there is a long and tough road and the toughness in that road includes everything from injuries to quality of the team around them.   Richardson still looks like the guy we saw on tape in college.  He is an elite run threat who can put the ball anywhere on the field, but his consistency in ball placement is not good.  I used to believe that can't be fixed.  Until Josh Allen.  Now these types of QBs are guys teams will take a flyer on, because of supply and demand, and the immense impact if you can hit on one of them.  But here we are and he's still the same QB, which is a bit of a concern to me at this point.   It's not like he doesn't still have time to get his game in order.  He does.  And even if he fails in Indy he'll have another chance with another team due to his talent level.  So it's still too early to get all crazy about where he's at.   For myself I'll say what I keep saying about him: he needs to learn to move the offense from the protection of the pocket.  That is how you have a long career and end up in the Hall with a million passing yards.  If he does not develop that part of his game the end result will be his teams will use his legs to move the offense and he'll get hurt and miss time and demonstrate why RBs have such a short shelf life.  So his career is in his hands.  He has to learn and do it or he'll suffer the results.
    • I wonder how Kelly got his neck injury he seemed fine and even practiced on Wednesday right,
    • Seems like every time the Colts face the Steelers the OL gets injured smh.
