That's who I'm puling for if the Giants lose out. I think it would only be poetic for Harbaugh to get a ring in Indy!

not sold on the pats ability to win it all. they looked great last night, but they were essentially playing the 1985 oklahoma sooners

Yeah what a difference a good coach can make. The talent was there but it seemed like it wasn't being utilized properly.

Don't forget he brought in Vic Fangio to be defensive coordinator and now they have a top ranked defense. Remember when we had Fangio and he supposedly couldn't coach a defense?

It's a team sport.

To gauge a QB against a QB you have to go elsewhere for your measurements.

Archie Manning was a very good QB. He played for like 42 years and only won half a game.

How should we compare two QB's that play in the same time frame and in the same conference then? Brady has the edge on Manning in stats and intangibles.

Would like a NE and NYG rematch.

Tom Brady is the anti-christ! Lol. Really i can't stand that guy. watchin him in last nights game i just wanted to reach though the tv and give him a good backhand. I guess its bitterness from being a colts fan. I hope the ravens beat the heck outta him next week.

I agree. The dark side of the force is strong in that one. Darth Brady and the Evil One in sweatpants defeated the Chosen One in embarrassing fashion, but good always triumphs in the end! ;o)

Hmm, interesting. Yeah it seems we only had him for a couple years, he could've just significantly improved since then or just simply has outstanding talent to work with there in SF. I really don't remember him nor really can remember what style of defense we used back then.

It was the same problem we've always had with our defense. Personnel not matching the scheme. Mora was told to fire Fangio and he wouldn't do it because he knew it wasn't a coaching problem. So Mora and Fangio both got fired and then we got Dungy (who was a defensive specialist).

Ahhh.... THOSE were the days

I would utterly disagree - and I won't say more than that because we should all be tired of Manning/Brady debates.

They are both great QBs, and you decide between them by watching them play. It's entirely subjective.

Nobody ever said that. He just ran a complicated defense that the Colts didn't have the personel to properly staff. He refused to change his defense, Mora refused to fire him, and the Colts didn't want to obtain the high end players he needed - they were focusing on building the offense around Manning. Seeing as it's kind of important that the coach, front office, and owner be on the front page about things like this, they fired both of them. Just like if Caldwell isn't on the same page now as Irsay and Grigson, he will be fired.

Yea, I'm not even entertaining the idea of having this discussion again.

Well that's because there's not a lot of objectivity on the discussion. But the argument is dynamic meaning that seasons w/l and stats are constantly changing so their bodies of work are changing as well. That's why the discussion goes on every year - each one pads their resume.

If Brady hoists the SB trophy with the last ranked defense in the league then what more as a player can he accomplish? How could anyone say that there's anyone of this recent era that's better? (rhetorical questions so the discussion can die).

Peyton isn't even the best Manning in the league anymore.

Only considering that he isn't playing. If you are a Giants fan delirious from victory, you may be able to get away with that for about ten minutes - preferably on a Giants board. Otherwise it's a pretty ridiculous comment.

Yep, Peyton carried a team for the better part of a decade... Single handedly.

Petyon is the "ultimate" competitor. I am sure he doesn't give a darn about "who" wins the SB.

They are very hard to win.... and teh ones that get the prize... deserve it.

I disagree I am sure he is pulling very hard for the Giants because of his brother. At least if the G men come to town Peyton wont have to travel far to watch him play this time.

Every year, we all get caught up in the great offenses and almost every year, defense wins. We've already seen the 3 best defenses in the playoffs win. The Pats would be defeating all odds if they won the Super Bowl with the worst defense in the NFL. I want a Harbaugh Bowl.

The Pats D played lights out last night.....but it was against the Broncos. Not a true test....Fox's game plan was terrible as the Pats were ready for the option after the first matchup. But with Decker out that really hurt the Broncos' chances through the air. The Ravens will provide a much stiffer test and have historically played the Pats tough. If they can keep Brady off the field they have a shot...The Giants can also pressure Brady. The 49ers are the wild card of the bunch...Should be interesting....

I guess I can see the point of this thread, but once the ball is kicked off, it's little more than a 100 yard-long piece of turf.

And I don't know what the "great debate" ramifications would be if the Patriots somehow do win it all. They have a very tough test this weekend and if they happen to win they'll have another one waiting for them in the 49ers or Giants.

The one thing that another SB win would mean, for Brady and Belichick anyway, would be be a little vindication for Spygate and the legions of opposing fans who like to point out that they haven't won a title since that all happened. That doesn't consider, of course, the fact that they were one helmet catch away from accomplishing that four years ago, but I understand that the result is all that matters.

I def agree, i gotta root for Peyton's little brother. Go Eli!

I'm a little perplexed why Colts fans would want Eli to win another one. I know many of you have 'adopted' the Giants and Eli as a rooting interest because hes is Peytons brother and that somehow reflects on Peyton...but if Eli wins more than Peyton...you're gonna have a whole new angle to defend against in the great 'Peyton Manning legacy' debate that so many here obsess about.

Ditto that.

You'll hear a lot of detractors say, "He's not even the GOAT of his own FAMILY!!!"
