I think it depends on what the Raiders do honestly. I would say their biggest weakness is OT so if they take Conklin or Decker there's a chance Smith drops.

Remember these words: Jaylon Smith WILL be the best player in this class.

I agree with you. I think he slips a little but not all the way to 18 for the Colts. A team in the top 10 probably won't because those teams either have new head coaches or coaches currently on the hotseat and they'll likely be under pressure to bring in immediate help. The Raiders with a second year coach in Del Rio and a clear rising trajectory makes sense, but like you said, they do need an OT to protect Carr.

I do like Boone but I highly doubt Grigson goes after him.

I could see Grigson going after Mack

If we signed Mack and drafted Whitehair our OL would be really good. But I had rather sign Osemele and draft a Center in the 2nd.

You better have a back-up to Osemele....   because odds are that Baltimore will find a way to keep him....

And then what?

Who is your target instead?

I think we need to go all in for Osemele. But if he stays in Baltimore, I think our best bet is to draft Whitehair and sign Alex Mack. I think Whitehair is going to be really, really good, but I'd still hate to use our 1st rounder on a G. That's why I think we should go all in for Osemele and use our 1st on D. But there are some other free agent guards that would be good options. Brandon Brooks, Alex Boone, Ramon Foster, Jeff Allen, or even Ritchie Incognito. But IMO those guys aren't as good as Osemele. Brandon Brooks is too inconsistent IMO. Incognito was actually better than Osemele this year but he's getting older and he's never been as good as he was this year. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we sign Mack honestly. But I worry about him a little too. He wasn't as good as usual this year. But I'm thinking its because of injury issues. But then again he's also on the wrong side of 30. IDK. There's several possibilities, and I think we'll figure it out one way or another and have a much better line next year.

Thanks.....     appreciate the thoughtful response.....

Believe me,  I'd be thrilled if somehow Baltimore doesn't keep him and we manage to sign him....

I'm just trying to cover ourselves in case we never get a chance to step-up and offer him.

We can't draft our way out of having a poor line.    Free Agency is going to have to play a part in fixing this.

Whether it's a center or a guard -- or even both -- and then we draft a tackle,  I'm beyond exhausted in having a subpar o-line.      I still think we can get a good OL in R2,  and save R1 for the pass rush.

Grab a corner in R3 and I think the team will look dramatically better....   (at least,  that's my hope!)

You can remove Incognito off your wish list of guards. The hiring of Joe Philbin throws that one out the window lol.

He's not the smart pick at that spot. That would be a major reach, disregarding the BPA ideology used now

I think that this is really turning into a good center draft.  Nick Martin and Ryan Kelly would be good 2nd rounders.  Graham Glasgow (Michigan) is coming on at East West Shrine and could join them in the 2nd.  Matt Tuerk (USC) is a wildcard whose medicals will be key, and Jack Allen is a mid-round guy who would STILL be an upgrade for us (eventually).  With this many possibilities, along with my skepticism towards Wiesniewski and Mack, I'd definitely target a center as early as practical in the draft (2nd, with any luck).

As far as OG, I'd target Brandon Brooks (Texans) or Mike Harris (Vikings) in FA.  We'll overpay, but we can get our man and add a much-needed veteran presence to the interior of the line.

    • Kelly, Nelson and Smith did OK from Day 1. I just don't see the Colts spending money on a left tackle. I think we draft one and he starts.
    • I was talking about him going to Pittsburgh. I don't think the Colts will offer him the amount of money he expects. Tennessee is more likely.
    • It's almost upon us.   Indiana is not going to be represented well.   Outside of winning the conference tournaments, I think Purdue may be the only school making it.  No Butler, No Ball State, No Notre Dame, No IU, No Valpo.
    • Actually if you look at the entire picture since the divisions got re-aligned in 2002 we would be the only team out of the 4 teams (others being the Texans, Titans, and Jags) that have even been relevant. Those other teams have never even played in a SB (Titans did in 1999) but I am talking since the AFC South was formed. We have been to 2 SB's and won 1. No other teams have ever been scared of the Texans, Titans, or Jags I would be safe to say but when we had Peyton that were scared poopless to face us and even when we had a healthy Luck teams were scared as well. In 2018 when we won the playoff game at Houston with Luck that showed everyone that we were the better team when healthy. Houston was loaded that season with Watson, Hopkins, Watt, and Clowney and the game was over at halftime with Luck healthy.   As long as we make the playoffs it doesn't even bother me that we don't win the division. A lot of teams that win their division stink it up in the playoffs. I would rather make a Title Game or a SB than win my division if I had to choose between the choices.
    • Based on this, we can actually get the Browns' 1st rounder No.26 and pick No.91 for our pick No.21 if we move back just 5 spots, I like it     I have read Rich Hill's articles on PatsPulpit. He is good with numbers. Of course, there will always be a Patriots bias on a Patriots SB Nation article, especially when there are gray areas for interpretation but the quality of his numbers he puts out is a good one. Similarly, I like Scott Kacsmar articles too.    Ultimately, in trades, two hands need to be willing to clap based on a value agreed. The rest is pundit and draft day fan speak fodder.
