We'd have to win out, and Houston would have to go 1-1, and then it's about tie breakers. If we win out and Houston loses out, we win the division at 8-8.

It would go down to the 5th tie breaker and Houston seems to have the edge there. But I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Losing to a team of backups, when winning basically guarantees the division and a playoff spot.

Can someone explain why this joke of a team never drafts offensive lineman? Andrew Luck has been getting killed for his entire career, yet they'd rather draft third string wide receivers.

Cannot wait until Bill Cowher or Sean Payton comes in, along with a new GM. Andrew Luck's career has been completely botched so far.

Good lord. I Goofed.

Idk then.

I think I heard we have to win out and they have to lose out, but that could be wrong.

Yup, playoff machine says the Texans can clinch with a win in either of the next two weeks. I don't know how, but they have a tie breaker over us.

They play @ TN next week, and Mariota might not play. Then they host the Jags in Week 17. Not a difficult schedule at all.

There's a ton of things that could happen, but I think strength of victory would do us in.

My take on this is that Chuck was coaching with a handicap of Grison being a micromanager (via the reports Grigs was making some coaching decisions).  Going on that assumption I don't think we have really seen how well Chuck can do.  I agree that he still seems to have player support.

Luck and Chud had one game together and Luck had his best game of the year.  If you bring in a new coach you probably let the coach bring in a new system though Chud may also do the same in the off-season.  The difference is that Chud and Luck already have a relationship.  How much better would this team be if Chuck had a Chud/Luck combo?

That is what Irsay has to figure out.  From there he has to look at the relationship between Grigs and Chuck along with his draft choices.  Does Grigs deserve aa chance to improve or has he seen enough and he finds another GM.

Personally, I think Chuck and Chud could work, but i think we should get rid of Grigs.  I would prefer someone with better draft success.  Fix the darn O-Line!

That entire staff needs to go. 10 points? So much on the line and that's what we come with? Their 2nd and 3rd Qbs out there looking like regular starters. It's pathetic. It really is. Last week a 50 burger and this week u can't close this game out against Weeden??? Weeden got 0 wins without Romo. Come play us and he looks like a nice regular starting Qb...not only that. HE WON A GAME! !! Weeden don't win games. We let this man just do anything and people think our staff deserves honors?? Our staff is the reason our Qb injured in the 1st place. Our drafting stinks. Everything about our scouting is horrible. Jags are looking like the future of this division. They draft very well. In fact, just think of that last play. We have over 1 min left. Why the heck would that play even be called? Forget the players execution. Why is something like that even an option on 1st down? I mean, u just give them the game. OC, DC, HC....everybody need to go. Clean house.

the team has now the draft which will be possibly a top 15 pick to rebuild the roster to an already talented team, we can get a new HC, preferably sean payton if hes available, and most importantly we can shut luck down for the season and give him 8 months to get fully healthy. this was a very tough season for all of us because we all had super bowl aspirations, but one must first face turmoil before facing success is my mantra. this team will only get better I promise you. the fans that truly bleed blue, stay true. we'll be back next season with a better team, a better HC, and we'll have a healthy andrew luck. I love the colts. Thank you for another special season.

Having a pick 10 guys or so higher is NOT REMOTELY going to rebuild anything.  Ridiculous comment.

Yes I know all the problems this team has (o-line, defense, etc). But in the end a franchise QB is worth a few games. Hasslebeck did as well as he could for a few games...but anyone expecting him to start 6 games and the Colts makes the playoffs, well that was wishful thinking. He is a backup for a reason. A good one, but an old one. When Luck went down the 2nd time I knew we were going to be in trouble....my fandom thought we could get it done....but it was just too much. I was there today. He was just "off". And looked old and tired. With a few exceptions (Frank Reich, Jeff Hostetler) when a franchise QB goes down for more than a game or two...the season is done. Matt did a fine job but he just couldn't do what Luck would have been able to do....despite the flaws with this team.

That said, I am glad this happened, as much as it sucks. It exposed what Luck covered up. Cracks were forming with the terrible start to the season, but him being out these past 5 games opened the flood gates.

Time to start fresh with a new GM and HC.

I thought I read we have to win out and houson has to lose out for us to get in.

What a disappointing season. Its hard watching this team.

From Week 1... Lots of injuries since then, but this team wasn't performing well from the very start of the season.

I blame Dwayne Allen for letting the words "Dream Team" escape his brain.

I don't think many people realize the damage done to the Colts for years to come by Pagano, Grigson and the rest of the jokers we call coaches. Only if you really follow this team did you know the Super Bowl talk this year was fairy dust sprinkled in some talking head's mind and we were never anything beyond a .500 team vs. the rest of the league. They have destroyed the Colts from the inside out and you can't run these guys out of Indy fast enough for me. I've got many posts on SB 16 months ago requesting these unprepared losers hit the door. I'd like to take some money for a u-haul or offer my truck to help speed up the process. Good riddance!!!

No excuse to lose today against a teams 3rd string QB

And we got gashed by their backup 2nd, 3rd and 4th string running backs.  It was pathetic all around.  All coaches will be gone, unless Luck asks for a particular specialist coach to hang around.  Next season will be all about transition and waiting for Brady to finally end up in a retirement community along with Ben before we'll be challenging anyone.  We are so many miles away from even being a competitive team.  A decimated Houston club just beat us down at home.  The same one that gave up what, 42 points in the first half against a horrible Miami team?  I truly think that our 2-14 team would have stomped our team today.  We'll likely get smoked by Miami and struggle perhaps to a loss against TN unless Luck is playing.  Our roster is RIDICULOUS, our coaching calls are RIDICULOUS.... even our frigging coaching challenges are laughably terrible.  And who called that final heave to start the drive without any Colt receiver even nearby to try and catch it?  We had nearly 2 minutes to move the ball and we threw it away on the worst offensive play call of the season.  I thought we should have left Whitehurst in, he actually had velocity and some accuracy on a few passes, which is more than Matt had left to give, but they got that wrong too.  Right now I don't know if we could beat any team in the league with this roster and don't use the injury excuse, Houston beat us with an even worse injury issue today.  Fire all the bums.

I don't buy the whole it covered up thing. Grigs had to be blind not to see what this team issues are even with Luck

The offensive issues weren't personnel. They were coaching and substandard QBing. The line needs some help, but for the most part, the offense is fine, personnel-wise.

The defense is another story.

However, none of this is new. Four years under Grigson, we don't have a championship caliber roster, and the last three weeks, we don't even look close. Irsay purposely hired first time guys at GM and head coach, so patience was implied, but this season has been a disaster, compared with reasonable expectations.

I think it's going to be a Black Monday in Indy on January 4.

Just wondering how much different this thread would be if we would have won.

Depends on how we won. If you give us a TD on that last drive, this was still a pathetic game. If we came out and looked like a contender all game, then it's a different story.

There were stretches in the second half where the defense continued to make stupid mistakes to keep the Texans' drives alive, while the offense couldn't even pick up positive yardage on third and short, much less actually convert. The line let MH get battered, and MH was gun-shy and totally incapable of making a play. The defense couldn't tackle, committed bad penalties, and then our typical weakness across the middle got exposed as D'Qwell Jackson was asked to stick with Jaelen Strong on a crossing route.

This was a bad game. Third bad game in a row, during a stretch where we had a chance to lock up the division. The terrible way the team has played is a reflection of substandard coaching.

I think this may be the happiest I've been all season.

1. Everyone gets fired. No more bozo decisions with the team

2. Luck gets healthy

3. We get rid of what we don't need (players) and we keep who we really need.

4. Restructuring contracts-ty hilton, castonzo. Save some money

5. No resigning players like Dwayne, fleener and toler.

6. 30% off lucks contract for his poor play this season. Jk that's on the oline.

7. More time to save up for the super bowl for us fans.

8. Top 10 pick to get another wide receiver.

Excited to see what comes next this offseason. This team ain't going down without a fight as long as luck is the quarterback. He's a leader and will turn this team around if we can build a good line finally.

But wait here is the catch. Hopefully everyone gets fired tomorrow and if we somehow make it to the playoffs miraculously, no more bonehead grigson making decisions for the team.

I agree, had we even won I wouldn't of talked smack because we just didn't look good all day. I thought our Defense played great in the 1st Half but we just played sloppy at many times, committed dumb penalties, and our Offense without Andrew is wishy-washy. Hass is decent but Andrew is a Top 10, if not Top 5 QB today.

I do agree that personnel has been an issue. Luck masked a lot those first 3 years. But this year was too much for even him before he got hurt. I was just saying, for THIS SEASON, had he been healthy the whole way I think we are 10-6 or so and playoff bound. That said, I do hope big changes are made...so we don't waste his prime years. Irsay did it after Mannings 4th year...you know he's mad right now, especially with the hopes of this being a SB contender
