Hasslebeck was scheduled not to practice today.  Chuck talked like he should also be ready for Sunday early in the week. We'll know more tommorow.

There's no way Luck plays this week. He's been idle for weeks now, no way he's ready to see action on the field

Seems you're ruling it out before Luck even ruled himself out.  He didn't even rule his own self out of playing Sunday.

I agree he won't play but I have been hearing such conflicting reports about what he has and has not been doing. They range from he still isn't lifting or running (i.e., isn't increasing heart rate) to he has been lifting and running sprints (i.e., he is healed enough to increase heart rate). Who knows. Obviously want him to play this week IF healthy but really think he practices this week and then plays next week. I suppose they could shut him down for the year if we lose this week. Who knows...just wait and see.

Luck has to be PC and watch what he says. Just my thoughts, obviously. I'd bet the farm that he doesn't play

See my post above. Yesterday I literally saw contradictory reports. I tend to believe he has been lifting, throwing, and running but really we don't know.

the fact that he was able to practice is a good sign by itself. whether he plays or not we'll have to wait and see, but completely jumping to assumpation he wont play is premature

If they asked him if he could play last week against the Jags do you think he would have been PC?  No he would have said no.  Irsay had already projected him playing this week as a possibility.  I don't have high hopes he'll play, but there seem to be some good signs.

I agree, that's definitely a good sign. And if I'm wrong then so be it, I'm wrong everyday. Like Larry Horseman said, I've read contradicting reports too. Bottom line, despite what any of us think we know about the situation, we're all in the dark.

I have been excited to go to this game all season. It is crucial that we keep the Texans winless at LOS, and regain control of the division. If we win Sunday, do we clinch the division with a second win over the Texans? Either way, all I want for Christmas is to see Andrew suit up against the Texans and blow them away! Let's go 'Shoe!

Well sure. I will be interested to see if we get info on how limited he was. If he practices all week, that's a good sign. I assume then they will scan him on Saturday to see how the kidney is, and clear or not clear him to play. He'll be listed as questionable regardless, I assume...

He went through all the same drills that Whitehurst did. Made all the same throws, long, short, intermediate. I think he'll practice all week. Just a matter of getting medical clearance. If he is medically cleared I would assume he will play.

There was a report the other day that said the docs and trainers were not allowing him to run because of the kidney.  I don't know if it's true.

I don't know where that came from. I've heard Luck himself say he's been running.

The best news has been that once his kidney is healed, he presents no more risk to it than any other player does in any other game.  It could be gamesmanship making Houston wonder who will be playing, or better that perhaps he's ready and they held him for this exact game knowing it would likely be the key matchup to make the playoffs and likely it is (if Luck can finish the season they would be favored against Miami and Tenn I expect, if they beat Houston).  But if he can't go, at least it may force Houston to gameplan for all 3 of our QB's.  If it is Whitehurst, only Gore could win the game for us and I don't think he has it in him.  So, we can hope but without Luck or Hasselbeck, the season is over and even with Hasselbeck should he somehow eek us into the playoffs (due to the heinous play of our division) we're not beating Pitt who I predict will have the #5 seed at season's end).  With Luck we'd have a slim shot at a shootout in the 50's.

I'm all for Andrew playing if he is 100% but if he is even 95-99% I don't want him out there. I mean that kidney and abdominal injury have to be 100% healed. Last thing we need is him ending up with a worse kidney injury and possibly ending his career. I know HE wants to play...and the COLTS want him to play...and WE want him to play but honestly we have to protect the future of this franchise...we can't be short-sighted here and risk the next 10 yrs because we MIGHT get a playoff game. I really hope Andrew heals up...I hate the thought of putting him at an increased risk by pressuring him to come back early. I think the fair thing is to let Matt start...win or lose Andrew wouldn't feel pressured to come back too soon. He would come back on his own time with no pressure of worrying about making the playoffs.

Promising but as usual we all really don't know a great deal. If Andrew cant go I pray that Hass is ready because with Charlie out there it's time to just cover your eye's. I expect Hass to play at worse and with the Texans QB situation and their in ability to be able to beat us here in the Watt era we should pull the game out.

    • Yeah... Richardson needs players who can separate and who can get open deep. IMO "give the inaccurate QB a contested catch receiver with large catch radius" is one of the tropes that hasn't proven to work well. Contested catches have about 50-55% success rate even with the best of contested catch receivers and with relatively accurate QBs... now if you think AR's accuracy is not good, drop that rate even more. The best way to give a relatively inaccurate QB better chance to complete passes is to give him a WR who separates and and who is open so the QB would have more of a margin for error to throw the ball a little behind or ahead or a little higher or lower than ideal. (we are not talking about uncatchable balls here... those will be uncatchable for anyone really). In that regard, one thing I would agree about is - we need WRs who have good hands and have good ball skills.   And this is ignoring that AR has indeed been pretty good with his accuracy on passes at intermediate and long range. His biggest problem coming into the league was the short stuff and he was already showing improvements in that deparment before he got injured.    And Worthy is the WR who created the most separation from anybody in this draft :
    • Richardson  accuracy  on deep balls is his strength.  Hence why you pair an elite deep threat in worthy.
    • No.   You weren’t.   If you were the least bit sincere, we’d be having these conversations in private.  But you’ve repeatedly ignored my efforts to do that.  Your call.      Then you avoid me until I’m in an uncomfortable conversation with another poster.   You use that awkward moment as an excuse for you to come in with some sincere friendly advice.   The problem is, you’re neither sincere, nor friendly.  And you’ve been doing this for months now.  This is not new.   The pattern is clear and obvious.     And the shame of it all is that even with our different views on Ballard we have enough in common that we should be friendly.  Maybe not friends, but friendly.  You wouldn’t need to address me as “Sir.”    “Good deed going unpunished”.  You flatter yourself.     But your actions speak much louder than your words.   There’s no reason for me to trust you.  And here we are.  A real shame.
    • In a year when the Colts were in serious need of a QB and in position to draft one, Ballard came up in front of the media 3 days before the draft and straight up said something to the effect of "That guy everybody in media is talking about(Levis), we are not taking him". I don't know why you think the Colts are trying to throw us off the scent this year specifically. They are not trying to give us away the pick(thus the vagueness), but I also don't really think they are trying to mislead anybody. This usually becomes specifically apparent in retrospect after the draft when you look back at a lot of those quotes in the videos they release pre-draft... and they were talking precisely about players we ended up drafting, which they reveal in the post-draft video by extending some of those quotes(they did that with AR last year for example).    And about why people are doing it(guessing who they are talking about) - because it is fun. Nobody has the illusion that we will be right in our guesses 100% of the time... or anywhere close really... but it's still fun. And it's part of why the Colts release those videos with those quotes - to create engagement with the fanbase... part of which, and the entirety of which that 70 pages thread and whole board is about in the offseason. is to guess who the Colts might take and how they might feel about specific prospects.
