Are you seriously putting Whalen's inability to hold onto the football onto Andrew Luck? 

 

These two plays were completely unrelated. Two different scenarios, and two different phases of the team. 

 

Whalen managed to fumble three times today (four with a penalty) and keep his job. Dorsett only got two chances before he was pulled from Punt duty. If it wasn't on that kickoff, then it would have come at another time. The dude's hands were covered in butter today. There is no deflecting that.

Whalen was only playing up to the standards of the rest of the team ... He didn't want to outshine our super-stars.

I always preferred Whalen as a WR who would not try to get too many YAC.  He does not have the speed to try and get big yards in the return game.

 

If Whalen played instead of AJ, and we instead spent AJ's $7million per year on a RT or a CB (if any were available), we'd be better off.

Please release him! If I were the opposing team I would kick it to him everytime. The chance of him fumbling or not making it past the 15 yd line on kickoffs is pretty good. He definitely hurt the team yesterday!
