Jets vs Patriots

Are we still allowed to smoke a cigarette after a game like this?  The Jets are a good team.  Not looking forward to playing them in New Jersey.  Hopefully, neither team will be playing for anything.  I think losing takes a back seat to injuries for the Jets.  They lost some guys today.  It's on to Miami!

15 seconds left and you attempt a 10 yard pass instead of a Hail Mary.

How about no timeout coming out of the 2 minute warning on the first down play for 4 yards? Bowles just let it tick down to 1:20 then brought the all out blitz and Brady hit Gronk for the walk in TD. Unbelievable the bad coaching in pats games by opposing teams ...

you never, ever really think the Jest will beat New England

I think that both teams circle the date on their calendar.  I'm always nervous about this matchup.  Seven points today is HUGE compared to other recent games.  I was uncharacteristically calm after the onsides kick, though.

New England could go 16-0 this year given their schedule is so weak. If the Jets are their biggest competition, we're screwed with seeing this team lose a game.

I have no faith at all Denver or the Giants will beat them. None whatsoever.

It was encouraging to see Brady hang 30 on the best defense in the league. I  hope they can keep it rolling ... it has been a joy to watch.

That might be one of Brady's best games. He pretty much single handily willed that game after being stymied early on against that jet defense. He was even the rushing leader lol.

According to the NFL, Denver still holds the top spot for Defense. Although, I do recall one of the talking heads saying best D against best O. But, NFL still shows Denver at the top.

I don't look at NFL "lump sum yards" type stats.  However football outsider which has more realistic stats still had Denver #1 as of last week.

I loved his QB sneak on 4th and goal. Just when you think he is going low, he goes high over the top. Best QB sneaker ever. lol.

Yeah right. He didn't look too happy sitting on the bench with those long Jet drives. His eyes were like I need to get back in there and right this ship. :)

Fitz cracks me up chewing his cud with that long beard and very little other facial expressions. He played pretty good today.

Jets were the number one defense in terms of yards and points coming into today's game.

Sunday should be an interesting test, then, because the Jets come into the game boasting the league’s top-ranked defense, both in yards allowed (269.2 per game) and points allowed (75).

Yeah, he looked anxious to get out there and score points. His receivers dropped 11 balls today. If that did not happen, it would not have been close. Brady was on all day. Slicing and dicing. His fourth quarter was spectacular.

So Bill Polian was right... I thought I heard him say he didn't think the Patriots would even try running the ball.  And lo and behold.... Brady was the leading rusher with 4 carries for 15 yards.  They only handed off 5 times for 1 yard. Blount was 3 carries for -3 yards.  Brady threw it 54 times.

Pats said, OK, we won't even try to run against you, and we'll only pass, and we'll still find a way to beat you.  Pretty amazing really.

Bill said that huh.   I was thinking traditional football is guessing run or pass and when a team just does one or the other all the time you just tee off.  Passing has changed- teams are throwing short for runs- the 4 yd passes. Then Brady will hit the 17 yard passes in between and occasionally the long ball.

The Jets defense doesn't get to the QB much either.

I think a lot of teams are doing roughly the same type passing as Brady, it's just that he's done it longer and is more seasoned. Not to mention  he's pretty good.

Just heard on Mike & Mike-

Brady is 4 - 0 when throwing more than 80% of the time.

The rest of the league, all time:   3 - 109

I am dumbfounded.  They crush us with the run, yet appears immaterial.

They didn't run as much the last game because your run D was better than last season. If you can run on a team yeah you keep doing what works.

Still that's an amazing stat you just posted.

    • Yep. He must of woke up Thursday with it. I assume Pinter will play center if he can’t go. That tackle slot is worrisome if smith can’t go. The defense is looking ridiculously banged up.
    • QB is hard.  It's easy to sit back and expect guys to look like Marino but every QB has a different ceiling and a different path to that ceiling.  And again getting there is a long and tough road and the toughness in that road includes everything from injuries to quality of the team around them.   Richardson still looks like the guy we saw on tape in college.  He is an elite run threat who can put the ball anywhere on the field, but his consistency in ball placement is not good.  I used to believe that can't be fixed.  Until Josh Allen.  Now these types of QBs are guys teams will take a flyer on, because of supply and demand, and the immense impact if you can hit on one of them.  But here we are and he's still the same QB, which is a bit of a concern to me at this point.   It's not like he doesn't still have time to get his game in order.  He does.  And even if he fails in Indy he'll have another chance with another team due to his talent level.  So it's still too early to get all crazy about where he's at.   For myself I'll say what I keep saying about him: he needs to learn to move the offense from the protection of the pocket.  That is how you have a long career and end up in the Hall with a million passing yards.  If he does not develop that part of his game the end result will be his teams will use his legs to move the offense and he'll get hurt and miss time and demonstrate why RBs have such a short shelf life.  So his career is in his hands.  He has to learn and do it or he'll suffer the results.
    • I wonder how Kelly got his neck injury he seemed fine and even practiced on Wednesday right,
    • Seems like every time the Colts face the Steelers the OL gets injured smh.
    • Through three games, Richardson is tied for sixth among QBs with 18 rushing attempts (6.0 per game). That's about half of the rushing attempts of league leaders Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/nfl-qb-rushing-yards-leaders-2024
