Nick Saban, Come on Down...

I think the new head coach should be josh mcdaniels he is a proven winner he always has his offense prepared under any circumstance, Pagano is not the problem this team is put together to out score opponents which means the oc is horrible, I coach high school football, and I know to set up offensive schemes to beat blitzes, pep has not call but one screen pass this year nor has I saw once luck with a three step drop and then release the ball, our offensive play calling and design is horrible

I really love Josh as an OC but he is who he is because of Brady and Bill. He really bombed in Denver on many levels. Not saying he might not do well the second time around but a more proven HC might be the way to go.

Surprisingly I am from Baton Rouge Louisiana and I am a die hard colts fan since the year before peyton got there, Im only 33 years old and been a colts fan since I was 15, Luck is and have the potential to be the greatest in the game with the right guidance and pep Hamilton is not the answer unless he changes his scheme I think any offensive coordinator that comes in will make a lot of difference

I'll tell you one thing, our defense would be better. Not to mention, our team would have confidence. Right or wrong?

That doesn't mean he's the best option, but hay, I do see him offering things which we don't have and need to beat the elite teams i.e. Pittsburgh, NE, etc...

I don't get all the hate. OMG, he failed at his first NFL gig.......

I have never been a big fan of his but with Miami he never had the QB he wanted. That can be tough going from college where you get all the top college recruits to the NFL where finding a good QB is like a needle in a hay stack. Some guys are just best suited for college but I would like to see him give the NFL another go around. There is no question he has a brilliant football mind.

Did they go 0-13 and then quit...wouldʻnt be so hard on him if he just finished the season like a real man or shall I say real coach would...not to mention the team didʻnt like him either

Meh, I doubt we know all the details on that situation. Lots of players didn't like Jimmy Johnson....who cares.

Alabama and Saban are kinda like the Patriots and Belichick of college football. Usually they are both good teams, have well respected coaches, and have won several championships. However, they are also the teams and coaches people love to cheer against the most due to their successes. I am personally like most people and love to see the Patriots and Alabama lose, so I have a hard time looking at Saban objectively as a head coach option for the Colts. I personally think that Saban is a very talented coach and knows his football, but I don't know about his commitment to a team due to his early departure from the Dolphins. I don't really understand the huge hype with Saban, but I don't really see the huge hate either. I personally would rather have a few coaching candidates before Saban, but I would be willing to give him a chance with a great young QB to see what he can do in the NFL. The biggest obstacle here though is Grigson as I don't see Saban and him getting along and there will be a power pull in the ranks again like there is with Pagano and Grigson right now. I just don't see Grigson getting along with many HC candidates so I believe he needs to be relieved of his position as well in order to get a competent HC.

    • I wouldn't be shocked if we picked up a LB later in the draft or a cheaper FA for depth reasons... but TBH, I think we'll see EJ Speed get more reps at LB this year.  The coaching staff says he has as good of physical traits as any LB on the team, but coming from Tarleton State he needed a bit of NFL coaching refinement.     I also tend to think with our secondary we'll see a lot of plays with 4 DL, 2 LBs and 5 DBs.  Meaning Leonard and Oke likely get the bulk of the LB work if Walker walks (which seems inevitable).  With Leonard, Oke, Speed, Franklin, Adams I think we're OK at LB without adding another one (with Glasgow being a 6th man unlikely to see LB snaps, but on the roster for ST work).  We also have the potential of Skai Moore coming back from covid opt-out.     Ballard has said in numerous press conferences that he likes Walker but the price would have to be right for Walker and the Colts.  I see Walker demanding high dollar and Ballard letting him go try to get that $ elsewhere.  As I noted above, I think the coaching staff is pretty high on EJ Speed and we have pretty solid LBs (well a stud in Leonard) with Oke, Adams, Franklin already on the team.  Like you said, I won't be shocked to see Ballard go after a later round LB in the draft or bring in a cheaper vet for depth purposes, but I don't think we'll miss Walker all that much if he leaves (we especially won't miss him if he is demanding a huge contract as we have other areas where we can/need to spend $).
    • I don’t have a specific number.  But I’m doing some basic math.      Enough money was lost this year that the salary cap number could’ve been much lower.  But it would’ve blown things up for all 32 teams, so it was agreed that the absolute floor would be $175m.   A few revenue streams came in a little better than expected so the current number is $180.5.   It may go up another 1-2 mill, but that’s reportedly it.    The agreement between management and players called for a gradual increase as things returned to normal.  Neither side wanted a sharp increase like — you know — $40m in one year.   Makes things too volatile for everyone.  The goal was to return things to normal in 3-4 years depending on how long the Covid issue remains.   That’s what I know.    Im not saying you’re 100 percent wrong about the figure just yet.   Only that it’s (A) too soon to know, the decision is a ways off.   No one knows if, or how many tickets will be sold for the ‘21 season?   And (B) it’s likely a wrong figure because the talk of gradual and manageable figures to return to normal for the betterment of both sides.   Thats what I remember reading when things got settled last year.   I’m guessing we won’t know for quite some time until revenue figures for ‘21 are better understood.
    • That sounds good.    I would be fine with 6-8 pm and 9-11 pm ET with a 5 minute window for picks, so 16 picks should be done in 120 minutes. It would be like the real draft starting Day 3, where they get only 5 minutes between picks.     Would you have time around the beginning of April to help moderate this along with me? If it is a small window of time, it is a smaller time commitment on my front and yours, so I like this idea.   I can ask @NFLfan @csmopar and @danlhart87 again if they would be willing to make themselves available for those small windows of time thus giving us plenty of options. Let us bring this thread back up then.
