Gotta get a better interior. Maybe Thorton at LG for now. Reitz at RG if Herremans plays bad. Forget continuity. That goes out the window when guys don't play well.

But for the long term, I think we'll be looking to the draft and getting a new Center and guards.

You are correct, AJ is a route runner.  TY, IMO, has back slid to 2013.  He isn't running precise route, causing lack of separation under 20 yards.

 

Our O-line is the reason our TEs and RBs can't get into the short passing game.  The pocket is getting collapsed to fast to go with out help from RB and TEs.  If the TEs and RBs are chipping, they are basically out of the short passing game.

 

I agree that we have speed WRs, but speed doesn't help under 20 yards.  That is where precise route running helps a lot.

 

What I see doing what you suggest, comes down to the O-line.  They have to handle what comes at them with out help.
