The issue isn't having a loss.  The issue is the same problems as before are what's hurting us again this year.  Undisciplined and unprepared players is usually due to coaching, in my opinion.  Defense couldn't stop their offense.  OL couldn't give Andrew time to throw.  WRs couldn't get that open.  One loss isn't a big deal.  The problem is we've had these issues before and they haven't been fixed

Infinite number of "the sky is falling" threads. I'm going to stay away from them, and get on with my life. Yes, I'm disappointed, but I remember going 0-2 last year, and we came real close. Not worried. Not worried at all.

People are saying it's the same old problems.  But I don't think they're giving credit to how good Buffalo is, especially on D.

Some of the holding calls were, I hate to use the word, necessary.  Sometimes they get away with them.  But bottom line, they were getting beat.  We all know the O line isn't going to be great.  Hopefully it will be good enough.

And even when he had enough time, Andrew rushed some throws.

Yes, there's a lot to work on, and the season can go either way.  Yet there's one thing we have to agree on - it's a long season.

Sky isn't falling. What bothers me is I see the same trends reoccurring year in and year out. Extreme inconsistency on defense and slow starts. Great play on d is followed up with a play where two thirds of the guys out there appear paralyzed and forget how to tackle read or react...

It'll get better. I promise.

Its not just that we lost ... I could live with a loss; but we got dominated in every facet of the game, and we still look to have the same problems we had last year.

Might want to worry a bit... this team was unprepared to play, looked soft, confused (including Luck) and were badly outcoached. They had the whole offseason and preseason to prepare for this game, Buffalo did, Colts didn't. For a team that needs home field in the playoffs, they didn't look like they were ready at all. This looks all too familiar....

It's only one game.  That D is pretty good.  They get Marcell Dareus back for the Pats next week.  If they do the same thing to Brady, maybe they are that good.

If the Pats put up 40 on that D, with Dareus, and we can't score more than 14 against the Jets next week, then we have a problem.

At least we know we can stop the run and run the ball.

The "sky was falling" at the beginning of the year for the eventual SB champs last year, so let's not freak out after week 1.

How dare you be reasonable!  The sky is falling! :P

Long season.  Both Colts and Pats started 0-2 last year.

Yeah, this team has a few concerning problems but the good news is that they're all correctable.

The best news of the day was that we dodged a bullet with T.Y. Hilton.

lets all calm down. its just week one. keep your fire grigs fire pags fire everyone t-shirts in the closet

Its not just the forum thats talking about pagano and grigson ... and if they had not fielded a team that looked as bad as last year, unprepared, and have a horrible game plan there wouldn't be any need to get the "t-shirts out"

Correctable?  We have been saying this the past four years.  When do we go into a season saying, things are now corrected?

This is a lie! Pats were 2-2 at one point and lost week 4

For the most part we don't want to fire Grigson.

But it would be nice to have Coach Chuck gone...like a breath of fresh air....and Chuck MUST take Pep with him.

@ this. I wouldn't have been that disappointed with a close, semi error free game. In fact, I picked the Colts to lose this one. The problem is seeing all the same issues that have continued to plague this team. Slow starts, lack of discipline, preparedness, abandoning the running game, turovers add in penalties and bad special teams play, ugh!!!

The past 3 years we went to the playoffs and improved our performance in the playoffs in each of those 3 appearances.

I'd say things, in general, are being corrected.

Also, football is a sport in which, week-in, week-out, teams experience certain problems (scheme, tackling, positioning, pre-snap reads, and on and on) that can be learned from and corrected for the next game.

That's why 11-5, 12-4, etc. = good records in the NFL.  You simply aren't going to play perfect every week when the guys on the other sideline get paid too.

Good grief.

The whole "sky is falling" shtick is old.  Let's all just wait until the season is a complete loss and grigson/pagano whoever is responsible has run the team into the ground to the point we need another "rebuild" before we complain.  You should get a job in government.

If we had confidence in our coaches like Patriot and Seahawk fans I would say you are right.  However, this team gets to a point in the season where they are good and then get slaughtered by really good teams.

So we should blow it up now?

I mean in all seriousness it would be a crazy move to fire anyone at this stage. End of the season maybe...

I wouldn't call for their heads now, it is a bit early for that ... I would give them a little more rope to hang themselves ... but I wouldn't be opposed to start considering chopping heads week 10-12ish if it was obvious we weren't going to contend for the SB so we could see what we have in the assistants, and also go ahead and get an early start looking at replacements.

And its not just that we lost ... its that we were dominated in all facets and we looked unprepared and out-coached yet again.

If we get there and aren't going to the play offs....

Yeah heads will be rolling I feel.

I agree ... but I also don't think just "squeaking into the playoffs" with no legitimate shot at making a SB run will cut it either.  We also need to go toe to toe with both, and beat at least one of the Patriots & Broncos ... as well as dominate several of the lesser teams on the schedule.

Once you're in though you've always got the chance of running the table so you have to go with it until you're not..

Though ok I get the point that we don't want to end up with Marvin Lewis syndrome.
