I'm personally fine with waiving Boom. We've seen his ceiling I think. Josh Robinsons? Not so much. And plus Vick looked freakin good that last game! Explosive.

Why couldn't he be put in the IR? Why did they kick him out all together? What am I missing?

If it's only a minor injury then why would he accept being put on IR? It sounds kind of like that's what the colts wanted to do...put him on IR bur boom believes he can play this year, so they waived him instead to give him a chance to play this season, albeit for a different team.

That is a terrible move if so. Seriously terrible.

Basically if that's why the thought process was... "Ballard is a nice guy and hasn't played a whole football game going on 3 seasons without being injured. He's a nice guy though. He played well 3 seasons ago! We have to keep him. Sorry Boom, we screwed you, good luck."

 

Or how about they think Ballard can play in the next week or two, and Boom won't be ready for a month? I don't know what Boom's recovery time is, but he's obviously not available right now, based on Grigson's comments today. 

 

Boom cleared waivers. He can recover without taking up a roster spot, and if he's still available in a couple weeks, he can come back. It's a gamble, but it's not like he's the foundation of this team. He's a backup RB.

What is also easy to overlook is that the staff may feel the shoulder has some probability of recurrence, even if he is able to get cleared in the near term.  While that may seem silly compared to Ballard's history, shoulders are different when you know the pounding they have to take.

I'm as big a Bradshaw fan as anyone here.....   but, unless I'm mistaken,  Ahmad Bradshaw is NOT on an NFL roster right now.

 

Perhaps he's just not healthy enough?

 

Perhaps he doesn't want to play for the veteran minimum?

 

I don't know the reason,  but I do know that at the moment,  he's not on a roster.      There's a reason.......

Ballard injured, Herron injured, Robinson injured will this team ever get solid at the RB position? Don't blame Pagano for Herron's injury, it happens at all phases of the game.
