If Varga is given the opportunity during the season he will be backing up Frank by the end of the season.

The kid is a winner, does not know what the word quit means.I have watched the kid since high school you

want players that are smart and will do whatever it takes to win.

I really like Varga but I think Robinson will be backing Gore with boom the 3rd. Varga might unseat boom but I don't know bout Robinson. We have 4 really good RBs this year folks..... 4.

Yeah I hope he sticks around too, plus idk what it is but Varga reminds me a lot of John Kuhn. I think he could be a interchangeable FB/RB like Kuhn and he definitely seems like a reliable runner, and a deadly pass catcher out of the backfield. I am excited about his potential.

The kid deserves a roster spot for running it in there with 9-10 in the box tonight .... without any blocking. Like I said before, this is your true overall #2 back ..... Has all the outside skills that Boom has plus size and toughness to run between the tackles. Plus great specials player, blocker and yes , could play FB if you put another 15-20lbs on him.  If he doesn't make the 53 then this whole process is an absolute sham!

I agree if given the opportunity Varga would prove to be our number 2. Yet somehow he sits on the bubble.

Ballard was done when he tore the achilles. No RB has come back from that injury but we keep wasting looks in him. Would have loved to see more Varga less Ballard who predictably couldn't make it through a half. Offered nothing on special teams. Being a good guy doesn't help win ball games.

I am sure you are probably the only one that noticed that Ballard got touches with 1's on the OL and regular offensive sets while Varga got to see 9-10 in the box with the parking lot crew for an OL, no pass threat QB and receivers who were lined up inside the numbers to make it impossible to run the ball anywhere. You can stack the odds against him but it's obvious that this kid is not going down and still makes highlights no matter what. Has been the same situation for four games now. He deserves better treatment than this and I think Frank Gore is the only one that has stepped up to recognize this and give him some props. Time for Charlie and Pep to stop the charade before the bad KARMA wipes out the remaining running backs!

Good god. Jim Irsay spoke glowingly about how impressed he was with Varga, unprovoked, while he was in the booth last night.

Is it your goal in life to + about anything and everything? Even things that don't exist?

It means he is definitely above the average athletic capabilities for a man who is 5'-11" and 225 lbs. I know what you are trying to get at, and I doubt it was the poster's intent....

Well, Edge was 6'0" 220 so not all that different. Is Varga fat or something? I've never seen him in regular clothes or wearing a g-string.

It's the second time I've seen him described that way...

Yup. I noticed. You know, Ballard has been through some tough times and has grown "iron" all over his resume. Enough of it to sharpen other iron.

Meanwhile, Varga is an Ivy-League plebe who has benefitted from lower competition and, therefore, has barely sprouted tin nubbies.

While he was in the game not injured on the bench, Ballard showed to Pags that he can still run. Pags will pick Ballard. Varga will get picked up by another team immediately.

I'm almost willing to bet everyone on the forum $10 this will happen.

Who makes the decisions on the cuts? If it's Pags, I fear Varga will get cut due to lack of "experience".

It will be disappointing if he is cut in favor of Ballard which would be rediculous.

I hope we keep 4 RBs...

Gore

Robinson

Herron

Varga

I agree with your depth chart. I'm not a Pags basher by any means, but I think if the decision was solely up to him, he would pick Ballard.

I do think in light of Irsay's comments, Grigs will retain Varga over Ballard and Pags won't object.

Just a thought. Speculative. But that's kind of a strange thing to do..single out a player for praise who will be fairly low on the depth chart regardless.

Perhaps he noticed the starting lineup and had some concern that his braintrust was placing Ballard over Varga, so he shot out those comments to publically let his feelings known and cut them off at the pass, so to speak.

You keep saying this "No running back has ever come back from an achilles thing" over and over but Ballard was running well last night.  It didn't have anything to do with his achilles.  It was a hamstring which everyone knows is a result of him not playing.

Talk is cheap! That is all media posturing. If Ballard does something it would be easy to continue the story and say " Oh well Vick looks to be back so we don't need another back ... it was a hard decision but Varga we wish you luck". This may very well still be the case? I am telling you, I can feel the bad KARMA coming from the lies and deceit.

Thank god I'm pretty sure that won't be the case......but if it is, that's a horrible decision.  I'm sure he has input, but I'm also sure it's not Pagano's choice 100% who to cut.

    • Fries has proven to be a diamond find.  Figure our salary cap will determine how our OL future pans out. Starting WRs are some of the best in the league.  Can AR connect with them like Menshew done?    TE room wouldn’t mind adding Fannin but team needs devalue him as BPA.  Conyers is great in run blocking and can catch hoping falls to R4-6 range.    DL help is a major area of need agreed.  Think I had a Day 3 initial grade on NT Rene Konga but each week he has impressed.  Between Konga and Michigan’s Benny probably our two best choices for Stewart’s role.  See my recent Week 4 top 10-15 players posted especially for LB and DB options.
    • I would personally like to see more bootlegs, and more throws on the run. AR is SO good at that.   Especially since they love playing out of shotgun so much.
    • Army is playing mistake free football, very impressive so far. One of a handful of unbeaten Group of 5 schools.
